Time to poach some UCLA players
Chip can't recruit. And UCLA isn't really serious about football anymore. He got big off a gimmick offense that served us well, but is no longer relevant. I'm not convinced that he still has it.

Kelly or not, UCLA hasn't been serious about it's football program. Kelly mentioned the lack of competitive NIL money available for players, which is absolutely required if a school wants to put together a winning roster. Unless they make some big changes quick, it doesn't matter who they hire to head the program.Chip Kelly to Ohio St as OC

Chip Kelly is someone who had some success then let it go to his head and to be honest never really lived up to the hype. I am not saying he has not had a moment or two but he is all style not much substance in my opinion.
If I were Ohio State, I wouldn’t even send him out on the road.NIL or not, recruiting has never really interested Chip. Hopefully some of the position coaches can help him out in Columbus.
He (and Scott Frost) have some pretty solid play designs. The speed was a gimmick. The play design was not.Kind of gimmick coach. I mean he had some success in the NFL. But his offense in college kind of got adapted to.

Frost was an absolute dumpster fire as a head coach. Would be curious to see how he does as an OC.Frost’s career sure spiraled as well. It seems as though coaches never really have as much success when they leave Eugene.
Coaches when they leave O do seem to struggle. Curious why that would be.
Running an uptempto offense like Kelly did at Oregon is a guaranteed way to lose the time of possession & put that team's D on the field a lot. A team going in that direction has to be willing to liberally use it's defensive depth. With much smaller active rosters game day in the NFL then college, I couldn't see how an uptempto approach could succeed there but I think it still can in college. According to rivals, Ohio State's last 5 classes were ranked 4, 4, 4, 2 & 5. They've got the horses...Kind of gimmick coach. I mean he had some success in the NFL. And you would honestly think that using that depth would be a huge selling point to recruits. Everybody will get to play, and get tons of reps.Running an uptempto offense like Kelly did at Oregon is a guaranteed way to lose the time of possession & put that team's D on the field a lot. That’s true, I’d be curious to see how many coaches move on from Alabama/Saban and struggle.UO has a self sustainable program. Winning is hard.
They’ll also probably have the best defense in college next year…Running an uptempto offense like Kelly did at Oregon is a guaranteed way to lose the time of possession & put that team's D on the field a lot. Similar with Chip. Curious how it shakes out with tOSU. Ton of talent. Arguably 2 of the best RBs in the B1G as well.

Sure did.Wasn't Frost the HC at UCF the year they went undefeated and were one of only a couple undefeated teams for the season?
Why is this thread here? It should be in the Ducks forum….
Buckeye's HC Ryan Day played QB at New Hampshire when Kelly was the OC there. Day went on to coach QBs in the NFL (Eagles, 49ers) under Kelly. Pretty sure he knows whats really what with the KellyChip Kelly is someone who had some success then let it go to his head and to be honest never really lived up to the hype. This Ducks basketball team looks like they’ll get bounced in the first round.
