So he got busted for having weed as a 19 year old, but he is disputing actually being under the influence.

...allegedly, officers smelled freshly smoked cannabis after pulling him over for "running a red light" :dunno: idk about the rest of Beaver Nation, but I prefer my running backs to not stop until they are in the end zone!!

Looks like OSU is going to not let him play in the bowl game

I was pulled over in Corvallis many years ago taking my young son to an afternoon movie. Pulled me over literally because I changed lanes a couple of times on a four lane stretch of Hwy 99W to get in front of slowpokes. He held me up for a good 30 minutes, repeatedly insisting he smelled alcohol, which was completely absurd, as a pretext to look around inside my car. Utter bullshit. Yeah, my son missed the movie.

Another time I was coming into town over the bridge to go to a Beavers game. As I entered the intersection, with a green light, the car in front of me stopped for no apparent reason, then pulled up quickly as the light changed. I had no alternative but to continue through the intersection. Cop pulled me over, and even as I got him to acknowledge what happened, he gave me a very hefty ticket.

I am not a fan of Corvallis policing.

Yes?

Cops have historically used the "I smell weed" bullshit to search a car or detain someone. The whole thing seems sketchy. I'd love to see the dash cam footage of him actually running a red light. I have seen so many people run full on red lights up here in front of cops and nothing happens.

The search of his car sounds sketchy right now.

This is why we need more cameras on our roads. If you were simply changing lanes you should not have been stopped. If you were reckless while changing lanes, like so many others are, then the ticket should be extremely expensive. I trust that you were innocent, but most are not. I feel like I risk my life every time I have to drive on the LA freeways.

LA freeways (and even surface streets) are nothing like Hwy99 in Corvallis fwiw

Yeah... Double Dude?

Damien Martinez ran for 146 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to lead No. 12 Oregon State to a victory over Stanford.

Stanford colors: Red and Black

It's instinctive for Martinez to run through red, not stop for it!

Oregon St., Washington St. to face MWC teams in scheduling deal

The Mountain West Conference has agreed to a scheduling agreement with Oregon Stateand Washington State that will see its football teams play seven conference games plus an additional contest against either the Beavers or Cougars next season.

Oregon State and Washington State will each play six MWC opponents in 2024, three at home and three on the road. The games will not count toward the MWC standings, and neither school is eligible for the conference championship game.

Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes said in a statement that, along with the six MWC matchups, the team will also face five Power 5 opponents and one FCS school.

Friday's announcement mentioned football only, though sources told ESPN that discussions between the MWC and the two Pac-12 schools are expected to result in similar scheduling agreements in other sports, including basketball.

With the transfer portal window for football set to open Monday, there was more urgency to finalize an agreement for football to provide clarity for what next year's season will look like.

If Oregon State and Washington State take control of the Pac-12, it's possible down the line there will be a more formal merger with the Mountain West under the Pac-12 brand. That likely would not happen for at least two years, coinciding with the end of the Mountain West's current media rights agreement. Sources stressed to ESPN that the complexity of such a merger makes forecasting with much accuracy how or when that could come together.

When I was at OSU almost 20 years ago got pulled over for driving with fog lights. They were automatic tiny lights on the vehicle that were barely noticeable. Cop tried to justify it that they could be distracting to other drivers. I was sober and white guy so they let me go. Never heard or saw that anywhere else driving the car for 100k miles.

Always believed it was just an excuse to pull me over and start building probable cause to justify searches or something else.

I don't see the point of the FCS game... Maybe it was already on the schedule or they couldn't get that date filled. Interesting that it says five power5 conference opponents.

1. Beavers already had Purdue on the schedule right?
2 Would assume Ducks are on it. Yeah some Duck posters here think the matchup could die eventually but I can't imagine UO wants that backlash now as well as they want less travel so seems like the "civil war" would have to take place for at least a number of years.
3 WSU

So what could be the other two power 5 games?

Could the Beavers and Cougars play twice? A home and home. Don't know if that has ever happened in college football but if it was to happen this would be the year to do it.

They could play a third time in the Pac 2 championship game! Vegas Baby!

OSU needs to get Stanford on the schedule. Stanford kinda sucks AND they play Notre Dame every year. You beat Standford and Notre Dame beats Stanford and you look as good as Notre Dame if you go undefeated and trying to get into the expanded playoffs.

Only had 38 yards against Oregon, so it's clearly not instinctive to run through green.

Oh, I was in a hurry. I passed on the left and on the right. Nothing reckless IMO, but sure, pull me over. The bullshit was the whole alcohol ruse, and the lengthy detainment. I wasn't cited.

So how did the #19 OSU Beavers end up playing #16 Notre Dame and the #8 Ducks end up with #23 Liberty?
This is a better bowl matchup just that it's in El Paso Texas where pretty much nobody wants to go.

My understanding is Liberty got an automatic berth to a premier "BCS" bowl since they were the best team of the non power5 conferences and hit so many wins/rankings. So the Fiesta Bowl got stuck having to accept them. Someone else might know more precisely.

As a Beavs fan not sure what to make of the Sun bowl game. Yeah I like the idea of smacking down Notre Dame in a 3rd bowl.

But just seems kind of insignificant with the chaos going on in the program and the depressing future.

Also really don't like this new transfer portal thing.... basically means the bowl game roster could be a significantly different team. This isn't just an OSU issue - makes me much less interested in all of College Football Bowls.
