Also really don't like this new transfer portal thing.... basically means the bowl game roster could be a significantly different team. This isn't just an OSU issue - makes me much less interested in all of College Football.

Seems like neither Oregon team drew really well. Of course Notre Dame has that "Brand" right?

Norte Dame draw is great, better than I expected.

Just the depressing future of maybe being relegated to the mountain west that's so much more depressing. The way Smith possibly gave up and the transfers out won't help but it's 99% the shit conference future that's depressing.

More about location. I agree drawing Notre Dame is probably the best they could hope for.

Yep Beavs are screwed. I don't expect we'll be competitive with P5(4?) teams for decades.

Pretty much. Would take a pretty big miracle to fix this situation. Beavers simply were bad and they had absolutely no power in the situation.

It sucks because we turned the program around last year. We were on an ascending trajectory and now we are getting hosed.

They were maybe starting to come into their own? Bunches of bad decisions and there just isn’t the money there.
Maybe they should go to the mountain west?
I honestly see no real path to relevancy.

The Ducks had a similar rumor when Mario left. I find it hard to believe.
 
Anyone seen the video going around of all of Smith's OSU gear at goodwill. Someone took a video showing a entire rack all with his name in it. Makes it look like he dropped it off on his way out of town.
 
With all the players likely leaving via the portal, the Beavs might end up being a MWC doormat.

it won't be that bad, they still have talent, especially at RB and WR

but that will be losing players to the portal, and between all the seniors, especially on defense and early entries to the draft (especially on the OLine) they will be losing plenty of talent
 
I noticed somebody posted about the Beavs men’s soccer team making the NCAA Final Four. Unfortunately they played a player last round that was supposed to have been suspended because of yellow/red card accumulation. Not sure what’s going to happen.
 
Looks like the player and coach are out for the rest of the season.
 
Well, at least I have my degree from a good college. I regularly get to hear OSU faculty on national news.

Can't argue with that take at all. I don't blame Smith at all but yes it could have happened more gracefully for sure.
To me this is more than just football though. There are other sports that will be affected. Baseball and Basketball are also going to be in the mix in the next couple months. You expect the baseball team will also be in the top 10 of the nation. How does a school with a top 10 Football and Baseball team not even get considered by another conference? That answer seems to have something to do with why Smith jumped ship quite so easily.
Blow after Blow that nightmare seems to be at the top of Oregon State Athletics.
 
Washington supreme court declines to review Pac-12 appeal

The Washington state supreme court will not review a lower court's decision that granted control of the Pac-12 board of directors to Oregon State and Washington State, the court ruled Friday.

With the ruling, a previous stay of the lower court's decision has been lifted, granting immediate control of the board to OSU and WSU.
