OT: Baseball coming to Portland in the near future (AGAIN?)

Bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, cleanup batter at the plate. Full count. Guy with a wicked slider on the mound. Crowd standing and roaring!! All with the smell of a backyard picnic and your kid might catch that homerun ball and keep it forever. No game has the drama of baseball.

It hurts that this day and age everything has a "timer"... Baseball is still the only (major) sport without a "clock". That's what makes it the best sport in the world. But, we live in an instantaneous world that can't sit through stuff like that and enjoy it. Oh well.

I don't love them, but I have played fun ones.
I'd much rather play a game of basketball than a video game. It's probably been over two years since I turned my Wii on.

Good baseball rocks! It's a great game. Portland would benefit from a major league bb franchise. I've watched the Ems in Eugene many times and it's a real family friendly atmosphere.

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes! They almost always have a quality team, and for several years, that stadium was considered one of the best in the minors.

Plus, they're affiliated with my beloved Giants! We had season tix for a few years, and I've seen several major leaguers play there, including several that have won a ring in 2010 and 2012.

Forget the Rose Quarter, a baseball stadium should be the anchor for new development. Industrial NW Portland is the best place, between Washington Park and the River. Lots of land underdeveloped there. Use the stadium to be the anchor for the next Pearl district. A baseball stadium would only clog up an over-congested Rose Quarter and/or OMSI area.

I don't see any way we get enother major league team without the Mayor leading the charge. And even then here's so many groups that are against sports and taxes that you'd need someone like Paul Allen to come in and pay for it himself. With the way this city operates it's a miracle we still have the Blazers.
