So stand with me and let's give waiters a good hard foul. Let's welcome him to America!
First time I've seen someone repost all their posts for analysis. It's like an analog echoplex
Waiters is a fucking bitch! If muslims pledge not to give respect for the country that gives him millions, they should get the fuck out of America
I'm proud of Julius for stepping into the non-stop arguing void left by PapaG.

your big words don't impress me (quickly checking google to find out what that meant)...
Psst!Forcing Chris Jackson to stand for the Anthem sure made the U.S. look bad to other countries. Imagine your reaction if another country did that. The best American propaganda is when it behaves liberally.
A tip to all you conservatives.
There is two players I would be totally scared of though. There names are Charles Oakley and Ron Artest
It's interesting that he loses his starting position and suddenly he's Muslim.
You know what Karl Malone or Derrick Coleman would have done to this kid in the locker room after a statement like that? It wouldn't have been pretty.
and has the right not to stand/be present if that's what he believes.
I may not agree with him, but it's entirely his right to not be present during the anthem. It doesn't mean he doesn't respect those who served, or respect the country, or not believe in the values of country.

I actually don't have a problem with refusing to adhere to a patriotic ceremony. Rabid patriotism is like a religion as well....
Can anyone remind me how this is different from the Chris Jackson (MAR) case?
Thank you, I was wondering that myself. Probably the difference is that that happened before 9/11 and now everybody's super-touchy. Of course, they were pretty touchy then, too.
Simple solution: stop playing the anthem at basketball games. I really don't understand why North Americans do that anyway. I'm pretty sure they don't play God Save the Queen (either the anthem or the Sex Pistols song) before Arsenal plays Tottenham. What the fuck have sports got to do with the National Anthem?
I'd say it's the opposite and we're more PC now (even if it's hypocritical). See post 117--Jackson was suspended immediately and until he said he'd stand out there quietly. No one from the NBA has told Juggler to STFU and take his paycheck until he gets over himself.Thank you, I was wondering that myself. Why does the country have to change its cultural mores for one person/one group/one subset? For instance, I don't recommend you attempt to enter Mecca.
"Solution: stop segregating between Muslims and non-Muslims in Mecca. I don't understand why they have to do that anyway. I'm pretty sure they let anyone they want to into Jerusalem. What does Islam have to do with formerly-camel-bandit oil magnates who somehow created a monarchy?"
Not only that but the national anthem blows. Wasnt it Daniel tosh who asked who had it on their ipod?
We should play Damian lillard raps before games.
Chris Haynes is a dumbass. So glad that fool is outta town.

...NBC said:This wasn’t one of those tidbits that came from anonymous sources, however; Waiters himself was quoted in the original story:
“Waiters informed Northeast Ohio Media Group that he is a Muslim and that’s the reason he excused himself prior to the national anthem.”
“It’s because of my religion,” Waiters told NEOMG. “That’s why I stayed in the locker room.”
“Waiters says he is rededicating himself more to his Muslim faith. He appears to be in a happier state.”
A day later, Waiters denied the entire thing.
Waiters' Tweet said:Lol I wasn't going to even say anything about the situation but whoever made that up about me & the national anthem is a damn lie....

I've never quite understood the "that's a lie" defense when you're quoted.![]()
From last night per CBS:
"Waiters informed Northeast Ohio Media Group that he is a Muslim and that he plans to excuse himself prior to the national anthem from here on out.
"It's because of my religion," Waiters told NEOMG. "That's why I stayed in the locker room."
From today: "Waiters informed Northeast Ohio Media Group that he is a Muslim and that's the reason he excused himself prior to the national anthem.

because it was a lie that he was going to refrain from being present during the anthem. That's the lie he's referring to (at least, imho). The link from realgm showed that there was a difference in the quotes.
One implies he said he would excuse himself for the rest of the time he plays, the other says he excused himself for the one game due to religious beliefs.
He could be covering his ass, but maybe there was a reason. No idea what the reason could be though. Maybe it was time for prayer?
