Like it would be shocking that Oden would be seen out partying in South Beach. The only team that should sign this booze hound is Utah. At this point, why should anyone give Greggers the benefit of the doubt? As a human being, I'm concerned for him, and hope this is his rock bottom before he hurts someone else.

I know for a fact that Oden drinks a lot. What I'm questioning is some reporter getting on the radio and claiming that he witnessed some things last season when Oden played for the Heat. If he really witnessed things when didn't he report them? There was a ton of speculation why Oden wasn't playing much last season. Why didn't this reporter speak up then?

Yeah that reporter is guilty. If you are witness to abuse and not tell, you are just as guilty as the dude or woman that abused

Someone needs to burn an Oden Blazers Jersey and put it on youtube!

Denny and I got into a a debate about statutory rape. He feels if the parents don't want to prosecute (say some 45 yr old dude having sex with a 12 yr old) then the state should not prosecute.

I think they should prosecute in that case and in this case. Judge can always consider the victim's desires and concerns during the sentencing stage.

She's well over the age of consent. This isn't a rape situation.

You think parents should be able to decide if they prosecute when a 45 yr old has sex with a 12 yr old . . . and I'm the one that is crazy.

But let me explain to see if you follow this. You think a victim's parent should decide if someone should be prosecuted in rape case. How about when the victim is not a kid, but is an adult in assault case. Should they be able to decide to prosecute. Following your logic I would think the answer would be yes which is why I asked. Follow?

In fact it seems more palatable in a DV situation that a victim decide vs your situation where parents decide on a rape case. But either case, it's the prosecutor's decision and it should be.

Oden charged with a felony. What an asshole. Some people saw right through his act years ago; others still make excuses. I'm going out on a limb and guessing this isn't the first time he laid hands on her, either.

NBA free agent Greg Oden is now facing a felony charge after police said he attacked his former girlfriend after a night of drinking.

Court documents filed today say the 7-foot-tall, 285-pound Oden is accused of punching Christina Green in the face three times and fracturing a bone in her nose.

His mother, awoken by the commotion, had to pull the former No. 1 draft pick off his bloodied former girlfriend to bring the incident to an end, documents state.

Oden, 26, was charged today in Marion Superior Court with one count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and battery resulting in bodily injury.

His felony offense carries a penalty of one to six years behind bars.

Oden was arrested shortly after 3:30 a.m. Thursday in his mother's Lawrence home, according to a Lawrence Police Department report. He is slated to appear in court for his initial hearing Tuesday afternoon.

According to court documents, police were called to the home in the 7200 block of Maple Bluff Place for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers began speaking with Oden, who was outside the home.

Inside, Green was lying on the sofa with blood on her face, documents state. She had swelling and cuts to her nose, as well as cuts to her forehead.

Blood could be seen on the floor and sofa, documents state. Dirt from a knocked over flower pot also was scattered on the floor.

As Green cried and refused medical treatment, her best friend told police that Oden punched Green in the face, documents state.

Police said Green initially told investigators that she fell. She did not respond to questions about the incident and would not allow officials to photograph her injuries.

Oden's mother, Zoe Oden, was home at the time and was awoken by the argument, documents state. Zoe Oden told police that every time the two visited and went out an argument ensued.

Oden was calm and cooperative with police, court documents state.

He is quoted as saying: "Thing go out of control, and I started to go after Christina. My mother and Toni tried to hold me back, but I swung my arms to move them out of the way and then punched Christina in the face. I was wrong, and I know what has to happen."

After her son's arrest, Zoe Oden told police that things appeared to be fine between the on-and-off couple before the incident, court documents state. She added that she did not see what happened, but she had to pull her son off of Green.

After the altercation, Green was taken to Community North Hospital for three stitches to her face and additional treatment. Documents state that she also had a closed fracture on the upper portion of the bridge of her nasal bone and may need surgery in the future.

Green later told police that she went to a club the night before the incident with Oden and Fields, documents state. She said that Oden had been drinking while they were out, stating that he sometimes gets upset when he drinks.

Green also told investigators that he only stopped hitting her when he saw blood on her face, documents state.

A prep star at Lawrence North, Oden and teammate Mike Conley Jr. led the Wildcats to three successive state titles (2004-2006) and continued their success at Ohio State, where they led the Buckeyes to the national title game as freshmen.

After one year of college, Oden entered the NBA Draft and was the No. 1 overall selection by Portland, one pick ahead of NBA superstar Kevin Durant. Oden missed his entire rookie season following microfracture surgery on his right knee as missed time would soon become the theme of Oden's pro career. He managed to play 82 games over two years with the Blazers before missing three entire seasons to ongoing knee ailments (2011-13).

Oden made a comeback last season, signing a free agent deal with the Miami Heat.

He is now a free agent.

The victim's Twitter account is being posted on Reddit, but I won't post it here. Interesting reading, though. I will say she is the niece of a former NBA player from Portland, too, which will be obvious if the above article is read.

I think parents should decide if there's a close age difference, not if it's a 45 year old and 12 year old. All I ever said is the law as written allows for a simple burden of proof: "she was underage." Period.

Poor Greggers. He accidentally punched her in the face three times.

Court filing at link.

http://www.wthr.com/story/26249847/2014/08/11/greg-oden-faces-felony-charge-in-battery-arrest

She told police it started as an argument and she went upstairs to wake up Oden's mother, hoping she could calm down her son. As she came down the stairs, "Oden attacked her, grabbing her by the left arm and began to shove her around the family room," the affidavit says. Oden then pushed her onto the couch, leaned over and "punched her with a closed right fist three times," the affidavit says. She said Oden hit her once in the left eye, once in the forehead and once in the nose.

Oden finally stopped, she said, "when he saw the blood on her face." Two people called 911 that night, including Oden, who told a 911 operator, "And I already know how this [redacted] gon' go."

Court documents say the victim needed three stitches between her eyebrows. Her left eye was nearly swollen shut and she will have to wait for the swelling to subside before a nasal bone fracture can be straightened and set. The woman told hospital staff she had fallen, but Oden admitted to striking her.

I'm not the one beating the shit out of women. You have weird priorities, dude. It appears you're more upset at me than the guy who put his girlfriend in the hospital.

Very odd post.

What a piece of shit. I knew alcohol was involved. I hope he serves time.

Where's the accidentedly part?

Gregger's initial excuse to police was that he was being held back by his mom and a friend, and that as he was trying to break free one of his arms hit his girlfriend in the face on accident. I don't believe for a second this is the first time this piece of shit has hit a woman.

I love how I'm a "dick" for posting a legitimate update on a thread with 130+ posts. Greg Oden is not a good person. I hope he learns his lesson in prison and doesn't harm any more women in his life.

Oden will quickly work out a plea deal with the DA. He'll plea to a couple of misdemeanors, be sentenced to community service and fine and get everything done quickly so there will be legal problems hanging over his head by training camp.

I'm not sure. He's no Ray Rice, and the victim has packed up her shit and moved back home. Ray Rice got a deal because his wife wasn't going to cooperate with the police unless diversion was involved.

Then he'll just have to find a training camp to go to.

I'm guessing the try-out with the Clippers a few days before this crime didn't go very well. Had he looked at all decent, the Clips would have signed him.

No prior record. They won't go too hard at him. IMO. Not a lawyer but I get to play judge on an internet basketball forum.

Did he actually have it? I heard they were going to bring him and Bynum in for tryouts but I didn't know if it happened.

Depends on how much of what has to be a dwindling stack of money Greggers has left for an attorney, I suppose. Any bets on how in 5 years, he's living at home with his mom, if she'll still have him?

Looks like it didn't. Oden was too busy beating the hell out of his girlfriend to schedule a trip to LA?

He'll be broke. She'll eventually have to sell the house that he bought her and then they'll all end up back where they started. Sad.

Also I know that his brother was a promising football player but I think he got bounced from college for drinking/DUIs. I haven't heard of him trying to go anywhere else to play football.

Good timing Oden, right after Ray Rice's drama. You'll probably get more than 2 games.. :D

Why was my post edited? It was entirely unnecessary. I didn't mention any member of this forum by name, and therefore, didn't violate any forum rule or guideline. Please restore my original post.

Still no comment on Oden being charged with a felony. You'd rather berate the poster who posted the information. Classic.

And stuff like this...never going to change, time to leave s2 forever....

Throwing insensitive crap at me in the OT is one thing. Taking over this forum is another, really going to deter people from coming to the boards.

Nice strawman. Where did anyone say you were beating the shit out of women? You may want to brush up on your reading comprehension skills, rookie.

I didn't refer to you. I referenced a former member of this forum who was banned for being an insufferable asshole.

You have weird priorities, dude. It appears you're more upset at me than the guy who put his girlfriend in the hospital.

Here's a quote from my first post in this thread:

Boob-No-More said:
But, punching a woman is unforgivable in my book. Anyone who strikes someone out of anger is a coward, a bully and a piece of shit in my book - especially if the victim is physically smaller than the attacker. I'm a big guy and I absolutely abhor violence against women and children. Yeah, I know to some people that may sound sexist, and I agree all violence is wrong, but in general, and very specifically in this case, the men are much bigger than, and have a huge physical advantage over, the women and children they assault. Yeah, he's contrite and willing to accept responsibility for his actions. He's been charged with a misdemeanor, but I'd still like to see him do some jail time for his assault. Letting him off without jail time will just send the message to other men it's OK to use a woman as a punching bag as long as you say you're sorry. That's just wrong.

Again you may want to work on your reading comprehension skills. Where did I say you, or any other member of this forum, past or present, should do jail time for being a dick? So, in your world, calling an anonymous poster a dick in an internet forum is worse that saying someone deserves to go to jail? Very odd response - unless, of course, your entire sense of self-worth is dependent upon what a bunch of strangers in an online forum think of you as a human being. If, to you, being called a dick in an online forum is worse punishment than going to jail, I can see why you're upset.

Although, again, I didn't refer to you by name, I referred to someone who was "permanently" banned from this forum due to their constant immature behavior. If you don't want to be lumped in with that banned individual, stop acting like them.

I didn't berate the poster. Never even mentioned him.

And, if you've actually read this thread, you'll see I was calling for jail time for Oden even before he was charged with a felony. I didn't wait to jump on the Oden-should-go-to-jail bandwagon until the charges were bumped up to a felony. I was calling for jail time from the very start (based on eye witness testimony and Oden's own admission).
