Re: Philly danced on our floor tonight and WE BENT OVER

Ok, I think some of y'all need to try the stomp and shout method too -- as ugly as it was, the sky is STILL not falling. Put away your concrete umbrellas.

Re: Philly danced on our floor tonight and WE BENT OVER

You guys should just shut the fuck up about "Oh we're losing our chance at HCA!" In fact, you should have never mentioned it in the first place... you're just making yourselves butthurt over an never-could-have-been. We weren't in the playoffs last year. But we will be this year. One fucking step at a time!

Perspective! It's what's for dinner!

Exactly, although it's still not a given that the team is making the playoffs.

by the way, did anyone catch the angle of the dangle on Trout's finger....YOUCH

No shit. Pop's goin' KRAZY KONG on the boards tonight!

Re: Philly danced on our floor tonight and WE BENT OVER

it was one f'ing game

Unfortunately, at this point in the season, "one f'ing game' is a big deal. Can be the difference between challenging for the #2 seed and falling to the #8 seed.

So... you're saying I shouldn't get mad about losing to an inferior team, and just about end our hopes of advancing in the playoffs.

Gotcha.

These losses happen. We matchup very poorly against Philly, but this was about as much of a "must win" as there is during this homestand. It was especially more important after finding out the Denver lost. I don't understand your problem with people venting out their frustrations over the loss.

Re: Philadelphia 76ers @ Portland Trail Blazers 3/23/2009 Game Thread

and how many games has he won us, to even get us in a position to be in the playoffs?

So no criticism of player when they post a bad game? Yes he's our best player by far. Just not tonight. Tonight he was in a word, terrible.

Re: Philadelphia 76ers @ Portland Trail Blazers 3/23/2009 Game Thread

as i have been saying all year... this team wont get in. The suns schedule maybe has them losing 2 more games if we are lucky. its gonna be a nail biter for us just to get the 8th spot.

Seriously you are thick. :sigh:

I am starting to pity your ignorance.

Re: Philadelphia 76ers @ Portland Trail Blazers 3/23/2009 Game Thread

5 on 8 cant win w/those odds.

and all you people complaining about roy? go get your paxil or something. holy shit are you even blazer fans?

No we are not fans. I bow down to Roy, regardless of his play. When he plays like he's kin to Zbo, I'll say it. This was easily his worst game that I've ever seen him play. Playing bad happens, playing selfish all fucking game and whining to the refs while the rest of the team is trying to stop a fast break started by your selfish play is bullshit.

Criticism is fine. But saying he's a greedy asshole like some others above, is overboard.

The guy deserves more respect than that, even if he has a bad game....

and if Philly's defense can shut him down, so be it, but I saw a lot of standing around from our other guards/fowards (except LMA).

Re: Philly danced on our floor tonight and WE BENT OVER

Brandon Roy shot 1 FT tonight. Iguodola and Miller each shot 11.

That's the story of the game.

Haven't you been listening to Sodapopinski? It was Brandon's fault he didn't get calls when he got hacked over and over.

Get over it. Go root for the lakers man.. seriously. you guys are way to sensitive about the blazers.

He got mugged. My opinion is the ref's blew some calls. Yours isn't. but no need to come on here throwing shit on our best player on the team were supposed to support.

I never called him greedy, just saying he forced the issues on a night when the defense was shutting him down.

It's Brandon's fault he deferred and deferred and deferred and then expected to get superstar calls at the end of the game. You heard Mike and Mike say it several times throughout the game that the officials reward the aggressive teams and aggressive players. Brandon spent the entire evening dancing around the perimeter and getting scared of double-teams.

If he plays like he normally does and attacks early and often, (A) we're probably not in a close game at the end; and (B) he'd get those calls at the end of the game.

They were bad calls, but Brandon didn't deserve calls with the way he played tonight. That's just the way the NBA works.

So in your NBA, obvious fouls should not called if you feel a player doesn't deserve them.

Re: Philly danced on our floor tonight and I'M SHOUTING LIKE A MORON!

So... you're saying I shouldn't get mad about losing to an inferior team, and just about end our hopes of advancing in the playoffs.

You seem to be illiterate.

Illiterate means you can't read.

They're all of equal importance, especially with 12 (now 11) to go, and make no mistake, I was mad as hell, at Roy (for whining at the non-calls) as well as Philly for out-playing us. But you guys are acting like andro-raging idiots.

Portland will bounce back.

Alright, keep drinking the kool aid. Anyone with any semblance of intelligence can see that Roy played like Corey Magette tonight, which is very uncharacteristic of him.

I agree with the observation, if not the way you... "people" are expressing it.

Oden with the game winner on a dunk! That was an awesome game. Wait....a blocking foul on LMA. Game goes to overtime. What a horrible loss.

Don't tell me games aren't decided by the refs. Not saying LMA didn't slide into him, just that it almost always comes down to the refs because most calls can go either way. This why I love and hate NBA basketball. In OT down by two and LMA gets wacked across the arm and no foul? And I mean wacked! Very frustrating. Very inconsistent.

Yeah, you can curb the condescension and personal attacks. As it is, you seem to be perfectly satisfied with keeping "perspective," which is just as good as lowering expectations, in my mind.

Actually, it's you that seems to be illiterate. All I said originally was that this loss "just about" sealed our fate of not having HCA for the playoffs, and you interpreted that as an andro-raging act (whatever the fuck that means).

Roy played his worst game of the season. Philly was unconscious in the first half. The refs were pretty bad. That being said, our perimeter defense once again was just horrible. Everytime Philly needed a bucket Iguodala or Miller drove by whoever was guarding them at will and got a layup or got fouled. I could see it coming before it happened every time, including the last play of regulation. They did it all night. VERY frustrating to watch.

Tough loss at home, but not completely unexpected since the first game back from a long road trip is pretty much the same thing as an away game (especially with only 1 day of rest). Hopefully they get rested up, get their heads screwed on straight and are ready to go against Phoenix on Thursday.

But hey, really nice outing from GO only picking up 2 fouls in 23 minutes after the quick 3, and he was absolutely beasting on the defensive end.

Cheer up guys, you can't win 'em all.

Re: Philly danced on our floor tonight and WE BENT OVER

I'm not saying that's the way the game should be officiated, I'm saying that's the way it is officiated. Aggressiveness gets you the benefit of the doubt more times than not. You can't skip around two feet behind the three point line for the first 51 minutes of regulation and OT and then expect the officials to suddenly reward you in the final two.

And if you put that question to Brandon, or D-Wade, or Lebron, or Kobe that exact same way I'm framing it, I can guarantee you they'd agree with me.

Brandon crapped the bed tonight, and I'm sure his postgame comments will reflect the opinion that he wasn't aggressive enough.

Will do. Sorry, I was just venting.

My trick was never to raise them stratospherically high, so I never had to lower them back down.

Sorry, I'm not buying that excuse when we were playing a team in the last game of a five-game road trip and on the second night of a back-to-back. Couple that with the fact that this is the team that humiliated us in Philly earlier this season and the "first game back doldrums" argument falls flat.

Blazers needed this win, and their leader and go-to guy didn't come to play. Simple as that.

I just got back. Sat 10 rows up across the sixers bench. This game was decided by Javie. He had to have money on this game. Could hebe next rouge ref?I couldn't believe my eyes on the LAM foul at the end. He was hacked and no call. Seriously there were about 8-10 no calls in the 4th and OT, all benefiting Philly. Horrible, horrible (no) calls.

make no mistake... this was a bad bad loss.

should the suns beat the jazz.... and then beat us....

blazers will be 3 games up with the tie breaker to suns with 10 left. and if it comes down to the suns last 3 games... they are losing facing grizz, minny, sac

we get denver and okc(philly of the west)... how nice

I wasn't responding entirely to you. Before the thread got absorbed into the game thread, Pop was... being Pop. I was more reacting to that.

Andro-rage is another way of saying roid-rage (a rather obtuse and cruddy way, I see now). It sucks that I can't write sometimes.

And yet if Brandon would have stepped up for even just one offensive possession at any point in regulation the refs would have been irrelevant. As it was, we played with fire and got burned.

Lesson learned ... I hope.

Brandon having an off night hurt us. Philly's D sure helped but he was definitely not the Brandon we're used to. Cannot lose to PHX. Go Blazers.
