OT Portland Recommandation

I am coming to Portland early July (8th until 11th) and am looking for a place to stay. My Hotel just had to cancel and I am looking for another one. Maybe some of you could be helpful in that research? I don't want to pay 250 dollars a night if possible (seems possible) but still find something comfortable.

And second question: give me your go-to move regarding food places, visits and activities to in Portland and region.

I will have a car so it doesn't really matter. I will be here with my girlfriend on a 3 weeks road trip and want to enjoy a little of the PNW during this trip.

I have friends that stay here because it's right on the river with free parking. Nice walking area and restaurant on river. Very reasonably priced. In Oregon City but straight shot into Portland 20 minutes away.

Good recommendation. It also offers an opportunity to spend some time in and around Oregon City exploring. Some good restaurants and a lot of American history to be found there. Also good access to I-205 and the options it offers.

Yeah, we eat there fairly often. It's always enjoyable.

I'd definitely check out Multnomah falls and the Gorge. And drive 101 along the coast. Spend at least a day doing each if you have the time.

Mo's clam chowder bread bowl is good if you're along the coast, and most have good location with a view of the beach or bay depending on the location.

But most places will have good chowder and seafood on the coast even if they lack a view.

On the Portland waterfront overlooking a marina.We sometimes stay there to watch the Christmas ships that use the marina as a staging area in December. Decent restaurant and next to Tom McCall waterfront park and downtown.

And if you do the Gorge, take it at least as far as Hood River. Outstanding place to spend an afternoon. Also Portland has an excellent craft beer culture, with Wine Country just down the valley. As far as the coast goes, Astoria (especially if you're a Goonies fan) and Cannon Beach would be easy options. Avoid Lincoln City unless you want a classic American trashy, touristy beach town experience. Powells's City of Books (if you're into that kind of thing). The ubiquitous food carts. Swissblazer's 3-4 days are gonna be jammed packed.......

I recommend that you stay in Beaverton. Much nicer and safer than Portland.

Portland City Grill is also great (incredible views of the city from above), but it's expensive.

Also, the Tram is kind of a fun experience.

If you like falls and hiking (and if you didn't get enough of both in the Columbia Gorge) you might check out Silver Falls

Ditto. Like Wilsonville, there is no "there" there. With exponentially worse traffic. The price we pay for living in the 'burbs. Oregon City is the exception to the rule.....they have a very nice "there"..........

If you have the time, spend one night on Mt Hood in Timberline Lodge. The scenery, craftsmanship, everything is amazing.

If you can get here a day earlier, the Blues Fest ends on the 7th. It's fun, downtown, and shows off the city.

As the Blues Fest ends every night some of the artists board a ship and you can watch them play there as it cruises up and down the river. Very cool.
