Rumor is that Memphis wants a 1st round pick back in any Iggy trade. Are you willing to include that?
I am willing to include that. Iguodala is exactly the type of player the Blazers need and they ain’t going to get someone like him who is 25 years old like Pascal Siakam.
Iggy was born in 1984, same as Lebron James. I think we’d take Lebron despite that.
I don’t know his plans for next season or if he would re-sign with the Blazers or his physical condition right now but if they were all good for another two seasons I’d definitely want him, he’d be a huge upgrade over Bazemore.

What do you think the Spurs want for Aldridge?

Watching him and embiid go at it right now and it's clear he's still got it.

Is there any realistic version of a Whiteside/Bazemore for LaMarcus Aldridge?
.

last season, Portland was 9th in defensive rebounding rate; This season, Portland is 30th, dead last....and it's killing them. Whiteside has a defensive rebounding rate above 29%; Aldridge has a rate under 16%

all summer, Olshey sold the notion that Portland could sacrifice defense and rebounding in favor of offense and spacing. That sure ain't working. But I guess the Whiteside for Aldridge swap could be a case of in-for-a-penny-in-for-a-pound. Not sure it will work like some expect though....Blazers really seem to have offended the gods of unintended consequences this season

Bazemore for Aldridge? It would have to be more salary going out for Portland, and even if the Blazers included their 1st (which they'd have to in a Hassan for LMA swap), I'd doubt the Spurs would accept. They may not be any more willing to write off the season than the Blazers are

I just figured because every thread is a fire Stotts and Olshey and trade thread this might be another 3000 plus post thread.
I'm betting if you started merging all the Trade CJ, Fire Stotts, waive Tolliver, what can we get for such and such, you could actually beat the Super Melo with extra fiber thread which by the way is another trade isn't it?

What do y’all think CJ can get us? You’re fooling yourselves if you think it’s an all-star.

We’d be lucky to get a good starter+young player for him, imo.

Think like Julius Randle and Kevin Knox for example.

Giving up a pick for Iggy would be horrible.

it's really looking like even if the Blazers squeak into the playoffs (likely), they'd have a pick in the 15-18 range. They should be careful about giving that up for what would probably be a marginal upgrade at best, and maybe not even that

CJ for Randle, Knox, and Ntilikina

Whiteside+’21 1st for OPJ

Baze+cash for Tristan Thompson

Dame / Ntilikina
Hood / Simons / Trent
OPJ / Knox / Little
Randle / Skal / Tolliver / Rio
Nurk / Thompson / Zach (hurt)

Cut Melo when Nurk is back

first off...no way either Cleveland or Chicago go for those deals

and, I've thought CJ should be traded for 3 years now, and I think he's been heavily overrated by a lot of fans and especially the GM whenever CJ was due for a new contract

but I'd like to try for a better deal then that one. CJ + a pick for Tobias Harris maybe. I'd even consider a CJ for Love deal. As overrated as I think CJ is, I still think he's better than Aaron Gordon...a frequently mentioned trade. But maybe, the fact that CJ has a 5 year contract now that ranks 7th in the NBA in guranteed money means his trade value is really low....I don't know

Idk, does Cleveland really care? OPJ May take two firsts though.

Giving away a first rounder for Iguodala would be absolutely ridiculous. Spending 2020 unprotected first to slightly improve the roster is exactly what I expect from Olshey though.

I really fear that we are going to spend our assets on someone like Blake or Love and screw our franchise for the next years (it’s already kind of screwed with Dame’s and CJ’s deals).

Why they should help us though? At least Tristan has history with them why ship him for nothing?
Because we have helped them many times in past years, we have a good FO to FO relationship with Cleveland.

i still don't see why they would give up Tristan Thompson for that. Actually i think they might want to renew his contract.

They have a lot of money tied to Love and Nance, I think they wouldn’t mind letting him go and rolling with Zizic, and drafting a center like Wiseman.

I think their focus is on trading Love right now. He is the one that doesn't fit and has some value. Trade Love and renew Tristan with a way lower contract (he won't find much in FA) is what i would do if i was their GM.

I don't think any team wants garbage from a 5-12 team, only promising young talent or picks. Why on earth would anyone want Baze or Hassan? Only players desirable are Dame CJ Ant Hood and probably Little: the exact pieces Portland will never part with, for better or worse. With this playing style I am not sure any realistic roster options could get much done. This style of ISO offense and zero defense has got to go. Surely, surely Stotts is capable of that. Nurk should just not get on the court until he is at 110%.

At the trade deadline Baze and Hassan will be valuable for their big expiring contracts. I expect Neil to leverage their value and possibly the value of a draft pick to get an impact player at the deadline.

@hoopsjock I should have probably put my Andre Iguodala thread here but at the time didn't see this thread...you know I'm not a big trade machine guy but reading about Iggy and Memphis refusing to give him to the Lakers for nothing, I think we could get him

You could definitely be right, but I think the only other option is going nuclear and doing the we’ll try to be good again in 3-4 years if things go right. Which is a viable strategy.

I obviously hope I'm right with this but the Blazers might be one of the few teams willing to give up picks to take an expensive contract with multiple years left.
