Maybe. He has tools. He just hasn't had the basketball smarts or the confidence to use them. For Meyers this summer was about gaining some semblance of basketball smarts and the confidence to put them to good use. If he's playing hard and physical, and with confidence, then he shouldn't suck. Fingers crossed.

I expect nothing from Meyers so I won't get disappointed again. if he actually has a decent season then its a win/win

Sure. I think Caleb gets his PT at C, no? Vonleh isn't in his way at all.

Swanigan? I think he's going to earn PT pretty quick. I trust Stotts will play his best players.
By midseason, but not out of the gate. He'll start with players he trusts.

This is the correct approach to Leonard, and life in general lmao.

...I liked how Dame was trying to stay PC when they specifically asked him what he noticed from Meyers so far in camp -- basically saying that from a basketball skill perspective nothing has changed, but from a mental standpoint he could tell the Meyers is in a better place and definitely playing like he has something to prove and playing A LOT more physical (saying he would have fouled out of every pickup game so far LOL)

I swear if this dumb fuck injures someone...

If Caleb Swanigan looks head and shoulders better than the rest at PF, I can even see him starting. I don't think the competition is all that good at this point.

I don't know for sure, of course. I don't/won't see the team practice, and it remains to be seen if the SL performance is a portend of things to come.

What I do know is that Vonleh better be ready for a fight, and that Leonard better be ready, too.

That's a big if, but it's possible.
I don't see practices, either.
If the team is winning, then whoever our inaugural starting PF will be difficult to unseat.
Biebs can't move his feet, so he SHOULD only be fighting for backup C minutes.

Biebs better be ready or he won't get any minutes. He at least needs to show something in practice, and then on the court. At either position.

Again, that's my take.

I'm sure he's showing plenty of things in practice, but mostly pictures of his dog.

And the hate continues.....
Meyers Leonard hired his own personal trainer with his own money. Which most were asking him to do. He worked on his game hard all summer. Which most were asking him to do. He worked on elements like rebounding and power game around the hoop. Which most were asking him to do. He got gleaming evaluation from not only his trainer but other players including Blazers like Damian Lillard.
But there are simply those who just cannot and will not stop hating on him. Even if his game is way better this year they will only see the occasional turnover or missed assignment that is sure to happen. Missed shots will be an accumulation from years past.
Meyers truly needs to go to another team and start over. There is simply no way Blazer fans can get over their problem. And yes it's their problem.

The only way to silence the haters is to prove them wrong, and that's up to Meyers to do. Talk is cheap. Let's see results.

BTW, I'm not a Meyers hater. I was a Meyers supporter for four years, but at this point he needs to produce. Simple as that.

My "like" does not necessarily indicate support for the bolded line. I'm hoping Meyers finally breaks through and proves his value this year, on our squad, not on another.

Yeah. Just hope he fouls out. That is the perfect thing for the Blazers. The season has not started but the hate continues.

It was a joke. Lighten up Lucy. I was one of the biggest Meyers supporters on this board for four years. I don't hate the guy and would still love to see him succeed, but I need to see positive results on the floor during real games. I don't think that's unreasonable, or hateful.

Its not that. He talks and talks and never produces. When he does it consistently, we will cheer him. Until then, hes proven nothing to give him of the benefit of the doubt. He can do all the stuff we say we want him to do, but if in 6 months its the same meyers leonard... Then im not gonna look foolish for the 6th year in a row.

All good--I got you. I'm more than willing to look foolish all by myself on the Meyers bandwagon.

With Caleb, Vonleh, Zach, and Aminu on the roster, I want Meyers to play backup center. Period.

With Vonleh injured, I could see Caleb starting. He'll be hard to unseat if he does.

Nurk + Caleb = The Northwest Bruise Brothers

Blazers fans are going to love those guys.

I can see Biggie having a Nic-like start to his career - impress the team's star player, earn the starting spot due to no other viable options, long-term starting PF secured!

I see him having more of a ZBo start to his career. Come off the bench and play so well people are clamoring to see him start by mid-season. Yeah, we don't have a Sheed-quality starter for him to compete with so it should be an easier task for him. Just hope he takes a pass on the Hoops Family stuff.

Only Hoops Family I see Biggie forming is a family of foster kids whom he can help develop into solid citizens with legit futures the way his dad did for him.

Gerald Wallace is one of the latest blooming players ever. And he started becoming good at age 23. Another example is Jermaine O'Neal, but he was an all-star at age 23. Leonard is 25, I think the only reason he's in the nba is that Neil doesn't want to admit he goofed on the #10 pick.

Someone with skills needs to photoshop Nurk and Biggie on a Blues Brothers poster.
