Well, he is from there. After going to school at Cal, and then the Celtics, maybe he wants to move back home.
Although that does not mean he is demanding to be traded there.

There isn't a fair offer that leaves Portland with enough to contend, thus a trade doesn't make sense.

A fair offer, if Embiid were available, would be more than you propose and less than the farm (#5 #23 Ant Nurk Sharpe 3 unprotected picks 3 unprotected swaps). Different posters and different teams fans would have different opinions of what is fair. The truth (what a majority of competent GMs would agree on in negotiations) would be somewhere between those two groups opinions.

If he chokes in the playoffs, or misses a bunch of games the process cost may dwindle some.

When I look at it though, I think there would have to be a second team involved that had more of a need at guard because you're right that the Knicks seem to have that spot covered. So I think that package depends on if the Knicks have a mid to late first rounder that they like in this draft and if either team can find a fit from a third team that makes more sense for the Knicks roster than Ant does.

Why the Knicks might be ready to move on from Randle is that he has been kind of inconsistent for them on both ends and they might like Toppin and/or who is available to them at 23 or higher if they want to use future picks to move up. I would include another future first if it were needed. I also like Hartenstein as a backup which I'm sure they do too but if it were Randle and Hartenstein I would be willing to give up Ant, Nas, #23 and all three future firsts that we would be able to send out. Then we'd have to find a home for Nurk maybe the Knicks would like him backing up Robinson and would find value in dumping Fournier on us.

Dame, Shae, Jerami, Randle, Wemby, Matisse, Hartenstein, TPMLE, and whoever wins minutes out of Fournier, Trendon, Mays, pick 43, Knox, Jabari and Keon.

Like I said to begin this whole thing, there are a ton of ifs so I could see why you would say this is really iffy.
 
Blazers get #3 in draft. Trade pick , future 1st / Ant to Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges. Re-sign Grant. Sign UFA Seth Curry , Matisse Thybulle , Eubanks, Skylar Mays , Knox, and make other potential trade involving Nas. I just don't see the Blazers able to get an upgrade for Nurk in a deal. Nurks needs to finally play up to his contract. Starting Line up: Nurk, Grant, Bridges, Sharpe, and Dame. Bench: Curry, Thybulle, Eubanks, Watford, Mays, Knox, and add surprise through trade (Draymond Green ?).

Who has more trade value right now, Nas or Cam? My guess is it might be Cam despite what a few posters here might think of him. If it is then I say sign him and trade him before the season starts. You can still trade Nas as well, but I like the way his 3 ball improved this last season.

pretty sure if they sign him they can't trade him to Dec 15 (but it might be for 60 days?) unless it's a S&T. But no team is going to had cap themselves for Reddish

Little has no trade value other than as filler, but I'd imagine having 4 years left on his deal makes it negative value

So what is the answer to the question? Which one of the two has a better chance of being included in a secondary trade as Tykendo suggested? Neither?

KAT is only 27. And not long ago, the GM poll said KAT is the player they choose to start a new team.
 
No way would Kat be ok with being on a team that is starting over again. At 27 he is ready to go deep into the playoffs.
A Dame for Kat is not a good idea.

I don't know....I was just pointing out that signing Reddish and trading him this summer might not be possible

I'd think Little could be filler salary in a primary trade where the moving parts are substantial enough that Little's 4-years-remaining on his contract would be insignificant. But I'd also think that "secondary" trades are much more likely heading into next season's trade deadline than this summer

Little has more trade value because he’s on a very reasonable contract.

he's also missed dozens of game because of injury and has had several surgeries, including his current 2nd core muscle surgery.

his salary is not good but it's also not an albatross salary, more like a speculation-for-filler salary. Having 4 years left on his deal only has positive value if he quickly generates production and efficiency in the next 4 seasons he hasn't yet generated in the previous 4 seasons.

I guess it depends on the other team. First, we do not know what Cam's new contract will be. Maybe it will just be the one-year qualifying offer and then he is a free agent. That could be a negative or a positive for the other team if they want an ending contract for some reason.

Little has somewhere between a little bit of value to no value to a little bit of negative value.

I could see a team like the Spurs happy to take him on in the hope he becomes a good role player worth a first round pick(s) on a very cheap contract. Him having injury history could be a positive, in that if he becomes more healthy he could be worth more. If he doesn't improve his contract isn't that much dead weight.

I could see a team like the Raptors not wanting him at all as they have so many wings and might prefer salary flexibility.

For a trade of a star his value is nearly irrelevant as the contract matching is more critical. In a lesser player trade his value is likely pretty low but we don't know for certain it will be negative.
 
I had a weird dream that the Blazers roster next season included Dame, Giannis and Embiid. Not sure if anyone else was on the team.
 
Just read that the Bucks fired coach Bud....can we trade Brooks for him?

Dame is likely to push the team to acquire DeRozen if he's available IMO. I would prefer DeRozen on the roster over Nurk. Losing picks hurts, I'm not wild about the DeRozen part just thought it was interesting to consider.

As I said still have MLE/TE to improve the defense. Maybe defense or rebounding is a problem but it would be fun to at least see how that core plays. Maybe with a few key role players those issues aren't catastrophic. Offensively the group is great.

Nurk is the better rebounder and defender between the two. Those were pur two biggest weaknesses. Don't see why we'd make those areas worse for a guy that needs the ball in his hands to be effective on offense.

With Nurk injury history and the league having so few traditional centers I'm just not as high on Nurk as you are.

But they are valid points you bring up: and possibly some good GMs would agree with.

I didn't see why we'd hard cap the team to sign a 3rd string PG, or trade away Hart if we're trying to get vets to win urgently with Dame; but here we are. In that context DeRozen seems like the exact type of addition these Blazers would do.

Good luck finding a starting C without an injury history. It's very common. So unless you want no legitimage bigs (we only had 1 last year and it hurt us) then I don't see a way around this. He started shooting 3s, so what does "traditional" even mean at this point?

Yeah, Cronin and Jody may continue to suck, wouldn't surprise me one bit!

he may have been director of scouting back then, although, IIRC, it might have been scouting players already in the NBA

I think pretty clearly that Chad Buchannen was the main reason why the Blazers landed Lillard. He was the head of college scouting; and after elevated to interim GM he engineered the Gerald Wallace-->Nets trade that returned the 6th pick. Both Jason Quick and Chris Haynes talked about how it was Buchannen that had long targeted Lillard and that Dame was the main motivation behind the Wallace trade. This was all set up and in motion before Olshey arrived by the way
