The vocals on this track, both lead and backing, are the best vocals on Stadium Arcadium. That's one of my biggest criticisms of Stadium Arcadium, that Kiedis' vocals were off and Frusciante didn't sing backing vocals enough. This song's perfect though. The lyrics are still sort of lacking, but it is true, their music, especially this song, definitely makes me feel better.

New Song:

The White Stripes - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

This band gets such a bad rep because of how bad their drummer is, but I've always looked at it as a Jack White solo project, with just sort of a drum machine in the background like John Frusciante uses on his solo projects. With that said, Jack White's arguably the best guitar player alive today. He's tremendously underrated. I know Rolling Stone magazine caught a lot of crap for ranking him #17 on the all-time guitarists list, but I personally think he should have been even higher. He's a creative and technical genius when it comes to guitar.

B... I like the White Stripes (or should I say Jack White) and I do agree that they get tons of crap for having such a terrible drummer. That particular song is just alright IMO but the video is very nice

Sublime- Seed

Hard to choose one Sublime song but this is one of my favorites. If you like it also check out Badfish, Santeria, Don't Push, Get Out, Boss DJ, Roots of Creation (and everything else they recorded).

A+

I love Sublime songs with the frenzied tempos that have a mellow break down. This song wasn't a huge commercial success, but it's always been one of my three or four favorites off of the self-titled. R.I.P. Brad Nowell.

New Song:

Scott McKenzie - San Francisco

Scott McKenzie - San Francisco - A

I love this song, you'd be surprised how often this is played on the radio here in France everyday when I'm driving around with people. Doesn't get boring for me though. I enjoy the vocals especially the way he sings "San Fran-cisco." With that little stretch in the tone of his voice. Relaxing tune to just drive around wherever, whenever. Thanks bro.

New song is from Mika - Grace Kelly

Invalid Video Link

Definitely not one of my favorite artists, but this song is fun and I wanted to post a video. Reminds me of this one you posted a while, but I forget the name at the moment. I like the vocals, not because they're amazing or anything, but they sure as hell aren't easy to sing right and the song is just fun in general. A good one to blast in your car once in a great while.

Mika - Grace Kelly B+

I'm not usually into that kind of stuff but I really like this song for some reason. Although I could do without that guy's red pajamas.

Since you guys aren't down with the emo, i'll post my favorite Sinatra track... My Way

Invalid Video Link

D

Everyone always talks about what a great singer Sinatra is, and I'm not someone who knows the technical aspects of singing, but I just know that I don't like his voice, nor do I like pop standards in general. I know he's considered possibly the greatest singer ever, but it's painful for me to get through one of his songs personally.

New Song:

The Doors - Unhappy Girl

Kinda a stupid video, but that's YouTube for ya.

C... I don't like the Doors in general, that song is decent though.

Primus- Too Many Puppies

Don't like the Doors?

Anyway...

Primus - A+

I love Primus but haven't rec'ed them in a while because no one else in this thread seemed to dig them. It's great to see someone else into them though. Claypool is a god when it comes to the bass. My brother's always playing this song in particular. He loves to play Primus stuff. He's sort of a novice on the bass, but he really puts in a lot of time on some of these Claypool songs and gets them down. So that's what I'm always reminded of when I hear this song.

New Song:

Run BJM's favorite band, the Doors, with "The Crystal Ship."

The Doors - Crystal Ship - B

Not my favorite Doors song, but you can't really not enjoy any of their music because they're all so easy on the ears. I like the video with the paintings too.

Next song is from Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Invalid Video Link

One of the greatest bands, ever. No further explaination on this song.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody - B

That song is weird as hell but it's cool nonetheless. Queen is really a unique group.

Ok, if you guys (VC) don't like this song then you suck.

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

A+

Finally you got it right, lol. Elton John is the greatest. I saw him live recently, and he really hasn't lost it yet, even at 60 years of age. I really admire the way he came out of the closet in a time when that was a lot more uncommon than it is today. He was really a pioneer for gay rights. I hate that his sexual orientation turns some people off to his music, because it's really the most well-written stuff to come out of that era, an era in which most groups from the 60's were disseminating.

New Song:

B- I love the drumming but the rythem he sings it in just throws it off IMO. I guess it's not my genre like you always say. I like the RHCP, don't get me wrong, but I didn't really like this song.

The Bravery - "Time Won't Let Me Go"

Invalid Video Link

C+

I liked this song when I first heard it, but the novelty of it has worn off. It's still a decent song musically, but the lead singer's voice is horrible. He whines more than he sings. It's unfortunate, because his lyrics are actually decent, and he's got a well-written song to work with. "Honest Mistake" and "Swollen Summer" are the only songs I really like from the Bravery because of his vocal cadences though.

New Song:

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - What I Am

They've got a lot of good songs outside of this one hit, but it's really the only song I could find on YouTube that I liked.

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - What I Am - B

I used to always listen to this on the radio when I was younger, but for some reason even though I'd always crank it I never really cared much for it. The reason I gave it a B instead of a C is because I've always liked the bass lines going on in the song and the simple guitar work. This is the only song I know from this group though, you mention that they have other good songs?

New song is from !!! (Chk Chk Chk) - Heart of Hearts

Use their website's radio function at the bottom right to click over to the correct song.

Decided to finally post something from these guys. Definitely a band for you, VC. Sasha, you might know these guys I think.

Yup, I love !!!. Here's an easier link btw...

Ah nice, there you go, thanks. No need to look on the site then although their layout is bitchin'.

Heart of Hearts - A

Wow, this was surprisingly good. It reminded me of something from Kasabian meets something from Death from Above. Really great, energetic live performance too. When you have a frontman who's not afraid to get out there and dance to the music like that, it really makes it easier for you to do the same and get into the music. I'm on a bit of a Limewire downloading binge at the moment, so I'll definitely have to get some of their work.

BTW - I googled them after the song around ten times before realizing that "!!!" was not a valid search entry. Just thought I'd share a great moment of genius I just had.

Oh, and yeah, as for Edie Brickell, if you're not that into that song, you probably wouldn't be into her other stuff. We've got some similar tastes on a lot of levels but differ when it comes to music like that. I've got a weird niche for hippie stuff like her music for some reason.

New Song:

? and the Mysterians - 96 Tears

B- This classic rock somewhat entertains me at first but then it just starts to bore me. I guess I like music that is more upbeat, and move along a lot faster.

Rock Kills Kid - "Paralyzed"

Invalid Video Link

I found these guys on Myspace, not sure if they're popular or what....

A-

I liked the song. Nothing really mindblowingly creative or different, but its been pretty nice to listen to.

next song:

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Weapon of Choice

The user doesn't allow embedding (Grrr), but its probably the only version with decent quality.

A- That song was pretty sick. I liked the upbeat rock a lot, but the lyrics didn't seem all that creative.

Dave Matthews & Blue Man Group - "Sing Along"

Invalid Video Link

Oh man, I can't believe Black Rebel Motorcycle Club actually sold out. I looked in Best Buy advertising on a weekend when their latest album released and I was stunned to see, "Find 'Em First!" and "Great New Band!" I mean, how lost are these people? This is their fourth damn album, it just took most people in the US nearly a decade to finally notice them after they've been huge in Europe the entire time. Reminds me of Muse's scenario.

Sing Along - C

I didn't like the music, but Dave's voice was good. The reason for that probably that it was done by the Blue Man Group and not the Dave Matthews Band. I'm not a big fan of their music, or college rock in general for that matter, but they definitely would have been better backing him.

New Song:

Some random Chilis jam in between songs...

Invalid Video Link

A+++++++++++
An amazing jam, you can really feel the emotion in there. And then they turn it into californication...God, I love Slane...

someone can post a video, I'm on vacation, I just dropped by to check up on JBB.

Probably my favourite Incubus song, or at least the one I'm loving the most at the moment. They sound amazing live.

Incubus - In my Room

Invalid Video Link

A+

I think that's probably my favorite Incubus song as well, from the new era at least. I've really been getting into a lot of their older material lately, and it really doesn't compare. Everyone loves this song though. It's great when it comes on and everyone just starts singing along... "here in my room, here in my room," in unison.

I love the line - "You enter in fullblown technicolor, Nothing is the same after tonight."

Brandon's voice is also great live in this clip, and I didn't realize he played guitar.

New Song:

Mountain - Theme from an Imaginary Western

"You have now entered a deep sleep....."

C- Wow, talk about some boring music. Listening to this song makes watching paint dry look fun. I just don't feel these oldies rock songs you put on here, just not my type I guess....

Well, you have to understand that those songs aren't geared towards the A.D.D. 12-year old angsty pre-teen market like the **** you listen to.

D
For my taste, litsening to the vocals was an absolute chore. I'm not really into that kind of music or any Rob Zombie stuff for that matter.

Edit: Little harsh wasn't that VC? I mean the man obviously likes faster paced music, I guess he just needs to be exposed to the more slower melodic songs to "get the ears for it". I hated a lot of slow songs before as well but I became exposed to stuff like Under the Bridge and that slowly bridged the gap for me.

Edit#2: Tehehe "Bridged the gap" with the song Under the Bridge. I didn't realize it after I posted. Damn I'm good.

Oh, that piercing voice! Just horrible, dude needs some voice lessons as soon as possible.

Next up is something by an Australian band named Karnivool. They're a bit nu-metalish and I'll probably get some flack for that, but I love them.
