KBergCBS: The Blazers and Clips are discussing a deal that would send Jamal Crawford to L.A. for Eric Bledsoe and Ryan Gomes, sources say. [via Twitter]

I don't know much about this kid, but I looked him up. 18.7 PPG, 40% FG (why do PGs shoot so fucking poorly?), 33% from three, 5.6 APG, 1.5 steals and 2.2 TO. Since I can only look "on paper", nothing about this kid jumps out at me.

Because most of the time a point guard is (or should be) "shooter of last resort." Often they aren't being set up or they are trying to score at the end of the clock. That's why guys like Paul and Nash are so remarkable for their shooting efficiency
Ahhh but what about years ago? I mean Stockton, Payton, Anderson, Stickland and so many more all shot extremely well.
Gomes makes 4 million next year. Not sure why we'd grab him, we likely won't play him.
As a rule though, most point guards shoot around 40% from the field ... if they're exceptional then they usually become all-stars or hall-of-famers like some of the guys on your list.
I like Bledsoe as a prospect, but he's got a LONG way to go.insurance? Basically we could get our starting PG of the future for only 1.6 mil per. That's pretty damn good. The other 4 mil is just to make the deal pass. Could we have future picks? Maybe?
He definitely isn't dropping 50 point games though, and that's what I meant.
Bledsoe is NOT A POINT GUARD. He's about Armon Johnson level.

lol. You do realize Johnson was the #3 pick last year right? Minny is not gonna give him up AND a pick for a Crawful rental.Minny for something, maybe Ridnour, maybe Beasley, maybe Johnson and a pick

He's terrible right now. His A/T ratio last year was 1.5, and he played a lot of significant minutes and games. His PER was 10.8. He was about as bad as Felton this year. Not really. Bledsoe played SG at UK because they had Wall there with him. And he's in a similar situation now with Mo Williams and CP at PG. His court vision is actually decent.
I don't really have much hope for him being our definite PGotF, but he's better than the lot we have now.
Why wouldn't we? He's a competent 3/4. Better than some of the alternatives we have on the bench.

I like his potential, but he stinks right now.

Augustin would be such a massive upgrade.
