Is it safe to say he has a problem with his shot yet?
He needs to spend the offseason working with Phil Beckner.

It's kind of weird to me how little anyone discusses him starting to wear glasses. I mean, OF COURSE he can't shoot from distance if he can't see the fuckin' hoop.
I had laser surgery on my eyes when I was 24. I'd never worn glasses, and was mostly blind in one eye. Before then I was a pretty mediocre shot with a shotgun, despite having shot since I was literally 11. Within a few years I became one of the better shots anywhere I went. I could just judge distances so much better. I had depth perception.
I rapidly improved because I'd spent a dozen years working really hard at this craft to go from completely horrible (I sucked soooo badly at age 11--I literally hit about 5% of what I aimed at in the first three years) to mediocre at 24. It suddenly seemed so much easier for me, and I wanted to do shoot more and more.
I'm not saying Scoot will suddenly become a deadeye, but having a guard suddenly able to see may have an impact similar to growing several inches over a year. The results won't come all at once, but you look back a few years later and it's just mind blowing how much progress has been made.

drafted #4, Russell Westbrook rookie season started off a bit janky. It took about 20 games for Russ to catch a rhythm. By January of 09' Westbrook was dropping 30 point games. The biggest difference between Westbrook's inaugural season and Scoot's, is Russ wasn't toeing the line. He was getting to the rack and earning some free throws.
Being Blazer fans, we can say the refs suck, Scoot gets fouled on every play, and he should be shooting more free throws. Or, we can be honest and say the transition from G-League defense to NBA defense has pushed Scoot out of his comfort zone. Henderson hasn't found those easier 14 footers. The goliaths in the NBA have him launching from 18+ feet away.
I have the utmost confidence that Scoot will figure out his own niche in the Blazers offense soon. It's still very early in the season, and there is no hurry to disrupt the flow of natural basketball that will begin to flourish with Scoot Henderson on the court.
There are "degress" here, I have in no way given up on him, just think he is a lot more "raw" thin I thought he would be and its likely going to take significantly longer for him to get to a higher level. I fo not thing he is any kind of "generational talent, think he can be a solid stI’m ashamed of how quickly some of this fanbase has given up on this kid. It’s embarrassing.
russ was approx 19 1/2 when drafted, he turned 20 om Nov 12 2008, Scoot is roughly 3 months youngerWhat age was Russ his rookie year?
Also Russ was getting way more reps than Scoot from day one playing 30+ minutes a game and Russ was drafted after his sophomore year at UCLA at 19 years old but he turned 20 during his first month of his rookie season.drafted #4, Russell Westbrook rookie season started off a bit janky. Green font? Just this last game Haberstroh said that second spectrum has clocked Scoot as the fastest player in the league this season, meaning he's reached the highest speed on the court. I think he's looked pretty explosive too... so quick, not just fast. The guy also seems to have a pretty impressive vertical... Westbrook's was probably more impressive in his prime. I see Scoot's lateral movement to be right on par with a guy like Russ as well and both are absolute beasts for their height in terms of build and strength. Athletically he's about the closest thing to a Russ clone that the league has ever seen. Also Russ is 10x the athlete Scoot is, don’t forget that
What age was Russ his rookie year?
Not sure you want to compare Scoot to Westbrook on here. He’s a glorified G-League here, NOT a 1st ballot HOFamer!
Shot pocket is low yes.He needs to square his feet to the hoop. He also brings the ball down too far. Defenses can easily recover and contest when you waste that much time bringing the ball down after you catch it.
is this a broken jumper like Frank Nkilitna?

Didn’t realize we had professional shooting coaches on here. VERY impressive.
we'll get there. Eventually Scoot's minutes will pick up. It's almost a guarantee they'll be slight changes to the roster. Cronin has a big stack of counterfeit injury cards to hand out to league officials. Once the paperwork is cleared, Portland will become Scoot City. Also Russ was getting way more reps than Scoot from day one playing 30+ minutes a game and Russ was drafted after his sophomore year at UCLA at 19 years old but he turned 20 during his first month of his rookie season.
You watch plenty of basketball. You know when a shot doesn't look right? Pretty certain you do. I'm also sure you see when a shooter has a really good stroke. Scoot might work through his problems shooting the ball but even you must see that he needs to work with a coach (Which he is obviously doing in this video). Glad to see it. Hope he gets results from the work he is putting in.Didn’t realize we had professional shooting coaches on here. VERY impressive.
It should be easier to find someone who had a big turn around amongst the players that came into the league at the youngest ages. And you couldn't find an example among those 41. Ok, then how many examples can you give me of any rookie who played as bad as Scoot their rookie year and went on to make an all star game? I bet there are a few, but not more than 5, in NBA history, vs thousands that didn't.
Point being: "losing hope in Scoot" isn't a character flaw, it's just understanding probability. If Scoot goes onto become an all-star level player, it will be one of the most impressive development journies in NBA history.
No, I didn't even try because I have better things to do then pore over stats for a sports forum. Kobe was pretty trash his rookie season so there you go he only averaged 7.5pts a game 1.3 assists and 2 boards pretty comparable to Scoot although definitely more efficient as a scorer (not Scoot's job). Compare to Scoots 9.7pts 4.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds. Scoot less efficient but pretty similar output in more minutes.
+11 tonight.
Best game by far.
You mean he wasn't a total bust after like 11 games?
Fuck 'em! I mean those douchebag youtubers.Dude... I was trying to find a highlight package for this game and if you type in Scoot Henderson the entire first page is literally nothing but "Scoot is a bust" videos from douchebag youtubers.
right now hes had more bad games than good. the narrative is hes a bust. a good game does not negate a bad nor a bad the good. if he keeps having these games they will come. Not a single highlight package for his game. WTF....
What happened to the youtubers that would have these things cranked out before the game was even over?
