Just done watching the game it was pretty good game except all the fouling. Nurk and Zach work pretty good together and more they play on the floor better they will be on both ends. CJ shot the ball well and Dame did what Dame does in crutch time. Melo was very good and we need that the rest of the way. I just love Trent how he plays. I thought Whiteside play better in the 2nd half he still has his hands down when shooting over him away from the basket. He needs to contest them shots. Memphis does great job on the secondary break especially when we did a good job stopping the ball. Memphis is young but there going make noise in the near future.

I don’t think it’s that far fetched to say he’s not that far away from Jokic in all honesty. The impact on the game they both have is obvious... I’m not sure jokic impact is....that much bigger.....

I don't think Nurk is quite at Jokic level but he's right up there and has plenty of improvement in him. Mostly around the rim staying under control and finishing. But I'd muuuuuuccccchhhhhh rather have Nurk than the Stay-Puff Marsh... I mean Nikola Jokic. More fire and waaaayyyyy cooler.

"Jusif Nurkic clap clap, clap clap clap!!"

just for comparison sake (I'd screenshot bbref but they have re-formatted and their website is kind of bollixed right now), Jokic, Gobert, and Embiid this year and Nurkic last year

PER: Embid 26.0....Gobert 21.6....Jokic 25.0....Nurkic 23.4
TS%: Embid .593....Gobert .698....Jokic .604....Nurkic .570
FT Rate: Embid .545....Gobert .722....Jokic .277....Nurkic .442
Reb Rate: Embid 21.6%....Gobert 21.7%....Jokic 17.6....Nurkic 20.2%
Assist Rate: Embid 17.3%....Gobert 6.2%....Jokic 34.3%....Nurkic 17.9%
block rate: Embid 3.7%....Gobert 4.9%....Jokic 1.9%....Nurkic 4.2%
winshares/48: Embid .203....Gobert .223....Jokic .209....Nurkic .189
Box PM: Embid 5.2....Gobert 3.6....Jokic 7.6....Nurkic 3.7

these stats are not perfect but they are a decent representation of impact and efficiency. To me it's really hard to argue objectively that Nurkic is 1st. Looks more like he's 4th to me, especially considering he's played 1 game in the last 18 months. He needs to put together a healthy season before he moves up that list, IMO

That gives a good look, and I would say those are the top 4 centers in the league. Who rounds out the 5th spot? Also, Nurk does get a little X-factor of just being back and firing up the team. The fact he could beat up ANY other player in the league in a cage match carries something.

RPM basically says the same thing.

2018-19 Real Plus-Minus - Centers
RK NAME TEAM GP MPG ORPM DRPM RPM WINS
1 Nikola Jokic DEN 80 31.3 3.89 2.59 6.48 14.91
2 Joel Embiid PHI 64 33.7 2.68 3.72 6.40 12.90
3 Nikola Vucevic ORL 80 31.4 1.90 3.59 5.49 13.67
4 Rudy Gobert UTAH 81 31.8 0.29 4.35 4.64 13.10
5 Al Horford BOS 68 29.0 1.77 2.66 4.43 9.51
6 Jusuf Nurkic POR 72 27.4 0.81 3.35 4.16 9.04

2019-20 Real Plus-Minus - Centers
RK NAME TEAM GP MPG ORPM DRPM RPM WINS
1 Nikola Jokic DEN 66 32.3 2.41 3.15 5.55 11.14
2 Rudy Gobert UTAH 64 34.5 -0.95 4.84 3.89 9.29
3 Joel Embiid PHI 45 30.3 1.90 1.15 3.05 4.96

Nurk better defender then jokic due he a lot quicker. Now offensely Denver plays through Jokic majority of the time. Portland sometimes plays through Nurk but not like Denver does with Jokic. Jokic got 3 ball weapon in his arsenal and Nurk trying to get there right now. Put this way both teams relie on there big man to be successful.

I realize I short-changed KAT by not putting him on that list. Here are his advanced stats:

even playing on a bad team, he crushes Nurk in PER, TS%, winshare/48, and BPM. And he even has a higher assist rate. Nurk is quite a bit better defensively, but Kat is much better on offense. In fact, if you added KAT to that list of 4, making a top-5, KAT would probably be the best offensive C. A 7' C who takes 8 three's a game, shooting 41% on them, while adding 4.4 assists is an elite offensive weapon.

offensively, it would probably be KAT, Embiid, Jokic followed by Nurk and Gobert. Defensively though, it would be Gobert on top with Nurkic 2nd. Embiid would be a close 3rd. But Jokic and KAT would lag quite a ways behind. And it's still important for a C to be a defensive force in the paint

All these centers are pretty good but look overall performance that's includes playing both ends and there's only 2 of them is good at both ends that is Nurk and Embiid the others are with good on offense or defense not both.

I watched the game again early this morning. I like even more of what i'm seeing overall. most of the issues seem to be correctable and really, we played damned good overall. This is a game of runs. Very rarely does a team jump out to a lead and the other team doesn't surge back to at least make it close.
We persevered under pressure even when Dame didn't have a superb shooting night. I saw great team ball overall.

If we continue to dust off the rust, we will be polished going into the playoffs. I somewhat expect improvement each game th0ugh, even if marginal.
