I think Blazers will win this one; Houston will not be up for this game, especially after their game against Bucks.

i voted for Stotts, but it was a combination of Stotts, Dame and Nurkic.

Nurkic' lazy one-armed ball handling, shooting, and passing lost us many possessions. But he isn't on the list, so I didn't vote.

How will portland stop the threes? Terrible defense overall and even worse on long balls. If houston is hitting them, then lights out. Harden could go for 50.

Watching the Bucks defend the Rockets was Bizarre.

People love to call Terry stubborn...Bud was on a different level.

Our perimeter creation will help vs all of Houston's switching.

Going to come down to defending without fouling imo. Haven't been able to do it through 2 games though (fouls are way up for all teams btw).

When we vote for an opposing player for Our loss, it proves we lacked the will to take this game.

You guard Harden and let Westbrook shoot the ball. The Bucks tried it but Westbrook actually made some shots. Russ also got to the line.
I expect the Blazers will follow suit and the way they have been fouling teams, the Rockets will shoot 50 free throws at least.

One thing I have noticed is that our bigs do not get close enough to 3 pt. shooters and so they shoot right over them, I think with two bigs always in, they have to just give the offense the drive and then look to rotate.

A few weeks ago, members of the Trail Blazers tried to persuade Trevor Ariza to reconsider joining them in the bubble, sources told Yahoo Sports. Ariza opted out of the restart due to a one-month visitation window he had long scheduled with his son.

But because his visitation period had been amended with a conclusion date now near the start of August, there was some optimism among the players that Ariza might be allowed into the bubble to further strengthen their chances of a deep playoff run.

If the Trail Blazers were to snag the final playoff spot, they would face LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round and a pesky Ariza would have been useful guarding James.

The possibility was explored, but sources said the Trail Blazers had to have previously applied for a hardship waiver or a late-arrival form for Ariza to be considered for entry into the bubble. Even if those steps were taken, the league would have likely denied the request because Ariza chose to opt out, wasn’t included on the restart roster and didn’t arrive with his team on July 9.

Players within the organization were upset with the outcome, sources said. Portland added Jaylen Adams to the roster as a replacement player.

The idea of checking in with Ariza arose when New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson and Los Angeles Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell left the bubble to tend to family matters. Ariza’s situation is different, but it’s still a family matter.

To be with his son, the 15-year veteran sacrificed at minimum $1.2 million in salary and $1.8 million if the Trail Blazers were to qualify for the playoffs. But that was the only time he could spend with his son, and the organization fully supported his decision.

It was important for Ariza that he be with his son, and he should be commended for that.

But with his visitation dates changing, Ariza could have accompanied his team for most of the restart.

Well this fucking blows. It seems like he's not being allowed for primarily technical reasons, which is dumb. We could really use him.

If it would have benefited Zion and the Pelicans guaranteed they would have said ok

If his visitation window got moved up and he can join the team now, why is that information not taken into consideration by the NBA? This was information that was not available at the time the decision was made. And given the fact that the Blazers lost another player who opted out of the bubble why can't they just follow the same quarantine procedures and allow Ariza? He may not be able to play for the seeding games but he can definitely play in the playoffs if we get there.

Right, but it seems our GM could have been prepared for different outcomes (like visitation ending early) and done this differently.

That's really annoying. Does Dame have enough pull with the league to get them to make an exception?

Maybe Neil did try that, but Trevor said it was cut and dry on his visitation time frame.

I still can't fault or dislike Ariza or any other player for not joining during the pandemic.

You didn't read the article. It said his visitation time frame got moved.

Against Boston, Terry Stotts blitzed one time defensively, and it lead to an open 3.

Last night me & @hoopsjock went in on all the (fixable) reasons why that blitz failed (it wasnt "personnel"), and why it shouldnt have resulted in us abandoning the idea. Video starts at the beginning of our breakdown.

Terry on the radio this morning said the top five defensive teams in the league allow the most 3PT FGA.

Rockets will shoot 60 FT tonight

This is true but a bullshit answer. Of course the best defensive teams have a lot of attempts against them for 3 because they are usually blowing teams out.

It's so fucking bullshit to say attempts and not %.
