What's to get? During the run to the WCF, the Blazers were playing well as a team. There was a definite sense that the whole (while flawed) was playing greater than the sum of the parts. This season has had the opposite feel. Even when they win, it seems to be a product of individuals (usually Dame) playing really well, but with indifferent support. The pieces don't seem to fit together right.

When the roster is dysfuntional, the only solution is to change the roster.
Do you really see the roster as being that out of sorts? I mean they went against a team that's considered to be co favorites to win it all. Yes they had 3 key guys out Leonard, Harrell, and Bev. But the Blazers were missing Whiteside, Ariza, and Hood. If both teams are healthy it's gonna be a battle royal. It's not like the Blazers were dominate the whole game. The Blazers controlled the lead most of the way, and it took multiple things to go right for the Clips to win today. Like CJ's fouls, Dame's FT misses, and a double digit FT attempt advantage to name a few.

4 guys scored 80+ points - and we still lost to a team that was only half trying. What does that say about the rest of the roster?
Hey, I hate losses as much as the next guy, but that will never change my support for the team and rooting them on. It's pretty disgusting how some of these posters respond to a defeat. To me, being a fan for a team is like a marriage vow, for better or for worse.
WORD!

I know I'm not off the bandwagon. Before the Clippers were sitting everyone, I had this down as a loss anyway and still thought we'd make the playoffs. So we should still make the playoffs but that's not enough for me. CJ is a bad fit on this team and I have been saying that for four or five years now. The guy is an amazing scoring guard with the ball in his hands which is completely redundant when paired with Dame. Then there is the fact that he is an absolutely terrible defender which Dame isn't a good enough defender to make up for. So, especially with the emergence of Gary Trent Jr. you really need to trade CJ and try to get a three and D SF who is at CJ's talent level or maybe just a little worse if you can save some money. We might also want to get Dame an actual backup at PG. If we do those things and get one other role playing front court player this team will be moving forward in the direction of a championship and that's all I want. I'm not fickle, I'm actually really consistent with my fandom.

We were up 5 with just over a minute left. CJ refused to pass to an open Gary Trent Jr. He passed the ball the opposite way and it ended in a turnover. The Clipper fast breaked and CJ fouled. He is a terrible defender and is selfish. I agree he and Lillard are redundant because they both need the ball.

If you’re going to use the marriage analogy, if your wife was an alcoholic, you wouldn’t want her to change and improve herself? Or are you just going to sit idly and do nothing?? Being supportive and wanting someone to improve themselves aren’t mutually exclusive.

It says we can use a move or two and are sorely missing Ariza and hood. Who would be the guys guarding pg btw.

doesn't mean blow the team up and if Dame doesn't play well, we lose.

I am a bigger Blazer fan than anyone. I am so pissed that we lost because I am invested in the team. I will always root for the Blazers. I will always support them. But, as a fan I can show my anger too

OK using that same thought process. If your wife's an alcoholic are you going to verbally abuse her and cast her to the side. Some of the fans in here act like that when they lose.

you gonna have a quick line building looking to question that first sentence!

Also if you don't feel the exact same as certain fans, then you aren’t a fan at all. You aren't allowed your own emotions and you must be robotically positive at all times or you just aren't a fan!

lmao! That was a piss poor analogy. The Blazers are in no way equivalent to an alcoholic. Besides, as a fan, I have no control over what decisions the Blazers make as I can cry from the top of Mt. Tabor and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.

I strongly suspect you are joking....but that is only a slight exageration of how some folks here seem to feel!

It was your analogy...

no you aren't, and making that comment is very offensive to the rest of the fans. I saw a few posts of yours giving up on the season also and anger leads to irrationality and poor decisions. It's better to keep the emotions under control.

It was your analogy...

WRONG and where did I say anything about an alcoholic? Here's a clue, I didn't, you did. You simply twisted my analogy into your own so that's on you, not me.

I'm a fan dammit. The Blazers biggest fan

Plus he agreed with Shit Bayless. That's grounds for Blazer Fan demotion right there.

Well here comes all negatives commits I still Zach going good ball player he made some good defense stops at the rim. 7 points 7 rebounds 1 block 1 turnover +8. He was playing on the point guard at the start of the game. Now do I think 1/2 step slow sometimes sure. Does need continue get stronger sure. But you who I am blaming is olshey we got 6 players contribute anything and one game Whiteside came to play. We go from 6th player to 12-15 player on team coming off the bench. Olshey had chance to sign a couple good players and he just sign g-league player. Olshey dealt Stotts a bad hand for this bubble.

once again, you fabricate crap to fit your agenda. Nice try butters.

Yes, I am. Sorry, if my Fanhood offends you. I have never given up. I have gotten angry. I have been dissappointed. That is part of Fanhood. But, I am always here rooting for the Blazers, louder than anyone.

You said like a marriage, for better or for worst. I was just giving an example of a time that could be worst. It could be an alcoholic or any other issue. But you can be supportive of your wife while at the same time wanting them to improve themselves.

I didn't agree with Bayless. I am just tired of seeing Lillard not be able to play as well as he can because the Blazers can't figure out double teams.

Well let's use your analogy that has nothing to do with basketball. So you divorce your wife if she has a drinking problem, or do you try and help and support them?

Are you even married and ever been divorced?

We didn’t attack enough. Force the issue. Plus critical missed free throws.

Need to win out

Who was really out there? Maybe Neil tried to get Trevor to opt in as well. I just don't see Neil as a do nothing GM. I think he tries to improve this team. But i didn't see any player that was available other than end of bench guys.

well, the Clips also sat PG13 and Lou Williams down in the 4th Q, so they were 'missing' a lot at the end.

but it's not the same; the Clips were resting players. Portland is missing 2 of the 3 you mentioned and neither will be joining the team any time soon. Hood may never be anywhere close to the level he was at, Wesley Matthews never was, and Ariza is 35 and it's not a certain thing he will even be on the team next season

so, the roster comparison doesn't really fit

and again, the Blazers have been invested in the Dame/CJ back court for 5 seasons now. The team has been built around that. And in that era, when the Blazers have made it to their close-out series in the playoffs, their record is 1-16 and they have lost 14 in a row.

3 straight sweeps is bad enough, but the problem is the opponent formula to crush Portland has remained the same: take Dame out of the equation with doubles, triples, and traps and force the rest of the team to win games; and they can't do it. And that's what happened today. The Clips trapped and doubled Dame for most of the game. As soon as the Blazers stopped shooting 60% from everywhere, they lost control of the game

that's a roster problem
