Dame is not the kinda guy to go about this clandestine way to get Olshey fired. If he wanted Neil gone, he woulda told Jody straight up and it would be done without much noise (like the situation in Minny where they got Rosas out in a single afternoon). All this investigation does is shed unnecessary light on a potentially bad situation. Still not sure I get the motive. Perhaps they didn't anticipate it getting out in public.

He drafted CJ, Trent and Simmons as examples. Simmons has been bailing out and finally showing his potential, and he is so young and not ever near his potential. Remember when some were saying Neil’s love for Simmons was a problem and blah blah. We still got to the Western conference for the first time in 20 years, and no matter how you want to spin it that’s an accomplishment.

He has done some bad too, and can come across as certain way to some people. And he can be at fault for not making changes soon. But then how can you blame him if say he did finally want to make changes, hence the Simmons for CJ trade, but Sixers are turning that down so nothing he can do there right. But one thing I will tell you, is this Portland media, and Canzano and Quick are just as big of a cancer if you think Neil is too, they are assholes if you think Neil is one too. Dickau and the Clippers assistant that came out, and guys saying look that’s two examples, those two came across as the bigger douche than Neil if you ask me.

I don’t like that Neil threw Stotts under the bus in particular, saying it wasn’t a roster problem. And now if we don’t do well this season or blow it up soon that comment will come back to look bad and tasteless.

But regardless, the way some posters are out for him and have a agenda against him, and a certain two posters in general, I don’t like it and I don’t like the way he is going out.

Not defending Olshey; just don't like the way he will be going out. I can tell you, from personal experience, that in an investigation like this, there will be people who hold an old grudge or just want attention, and they will literally just make shit up.

There is way more people like this, and especially in Portland lol. that’s why I will always wait for all the facts to come out before I jump to conclusion

No agenda here. We all just realize he isn't the right gm for us. His personality has always been used car salesman that rubbed some of us the wrong way. It is time to move on. He won't do what we need to become contenders.

I read that number a lot later than 5 years ago...it was listed recently as a matter of fact and included owning the arena....I'm not surprised it's gone up since the real estate explosion though.

I have heard much of the same. Doesn't necessarily change what he said, but I think we've all grown up with people who were entitled clowns who thought they worked hard (etc) and in reality they were incompetent.

i think it is most likely also a CYA move. If they fired him without an investigation for these allegations, he could sue for wrongful termination. By doing an investigation they can point to the due diligence they conducted.

I would hate that move. Dude was the guy who took Telfair ahead of BRoy. And he has no loyalty whatsoever and clearly has rubbed players the wrong way because he sees them only as assets. Boston was as bad a Portland in drawing FAs while having a much more storied history and in a larger market.

If Dame wanted him gone, they would've just canned his ass. The team is worth 2+ billion, they can afford to pay off the remaining bit of his contract IF it pisses off the best player to ever play for the team (esp if he wants to stay).

Why pay him when the don't have to? If there are offenses which technically break his contract but were not seen as reason to risk making Dame mad...

Plus, you want to get somebody good in, and you don't want them thinking Dame will be able to fire them if he doesn't like them.

I'm not sure I buy this theory, but I wouldn't be surprised if they ran it past Dame before proceeding with the investigation.

I think it's more likely this is an attempt to protect the organization from liability. To shield against future lawsuits pertaining to hostile work environment. They may even have got wind that a lawsuit was being considered. Thing is that if they do find 'evidence' of that (and the decision to expand the investigation seems to imply they did), they'd leave themselves more open to that liability if they didn't fire Olshey

now maybe they aren't finding much at all and the expanded investigation is just due diligence. That's possible. But another explanation that kind of fits with the Vulcan history is that the investigation taking weeks longer is intended to keep Olshey dangling and pressure him to re-sign. That would be some rough justice, IMO

I really hope not. As noted earlier, I think they've done some more leg work on potential replacements than has been made public. Keep coming back to Barry.

Ainge chose to be out of work...he didn't lose his job...Boston still pays him as a consultant....he said he wanted to retire....that's not exactly fear of unemployment by any stretch..I think the Ainge deal is some journalist trying to fill in the gap in the non story

I have to disagree. If they just quietly fire him and he gets another NBA job, the Blazers will get blamed for any misconduct at his new job.
