Brent Barry not only went to OSU and played for the Sonics....he's a smart guy who's been coached by the best in the biz....he's working in the Spurs front office now I believe and if Pop trusts him to be an assistant GM, I'm sure there's a reason....I also like him because he's young and knows the modern game ....we have a rookie coach....pair him with a Brent Barry and we're no longer a cloak and dagger front office. I'd give him a shot...he also was interviewed this summer...I hope he's the guy and not Ainge

yeah...when Ainge retired from a major market where he had all the power I don't think he was thinking of a new job. I don't want a guy who's got retirement on his mind before he starts a new chapter of Blazer ball...Barry is young and connected...from one of the best basketball pedigrees around...he grew up in it. Young folks don't know yet that when you get Ainge's age...you're not exactly a bundle of energy any more...go with a youth movement and let it have room to grow..if not Barry then someone from his generation would have room to grow with the organization. You'll be replacing Ainge in short time if you hire him.
 
In my personal perfect scenario we would see a great new owner step up and buy the franchise in the mold of a Cuban or Balmer. A guy like Paul Allen that is very interested in the game and team and wants to build a winner. Then i would like that new owner to hire a new GM that can run the team well. Until all that can happen i would like to see Olshey either step down gracefully or they can fire and pay the guy what they owe him. Then they can hire an interim until there is new ownership and these choices can be made the right way.
Any way you look at it i would like Olshey gone and new ownership.
 
What owners would that be? Who's got $2 billion and would be a great owner in Portland?
 
The question remains, is Neil fired for cause (investigation proves fruitful) or is he let go and J. Allen is on the hook for Neils contract.

I think announcing the investigation has sealed NO’s fate with the franchise. It’s over. And since it’s not my money, and J. Allen is big-balls-rich, I don’t really care how the investigation ends.

HAHA, Quick now saying they haven’t found anything yet with regards to the investigation, the GM’s are now forming an association.

But wait, according to Quick we are a crumbling franchise lmao.

This shit is mostly being driven agenda based by Jason Quick and Canzano, the two biggest media cancers in Portland for years.

This in return is going to look bad on both of them! When are you guys going to open up you’re eyes about these two assholes!

There is a reason many players stopped talking to Quick when he was working for the Oregonian, who got let go from the Oregonian years ago. Or Canazno who isn’t allowed in Blazer press conferences.

Boycott these two along with Blazers edge and they should be fired! I like how I am doing this right now :)

NBA general managers forming association to support executives amid Portland Trail Blazers investigation, sources say

While these steps originated in March and predate the organizational investigation into Portland Trail Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey, that situation has further convinced front-office executives of the need for such an association, sources said.

Dozens of executives told ESPN that Portland's internal probe has stoked fears that organizations can make decisions to fire top basketball executives for any number of traditional reasons -- team performance, personality conflicts, differing philosophies -- and search simultaneously for ways to pursue "cause" violations in contracts.

With declining revenue and dwindling attendance across the league coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, many top team basketball executives are fearful Portland is creating a blueprint for other ownership groups to invoke firing for cause and sidestep payment on contracts.

On Nov. 6, the Blazers announced they'd hired the law firm O'Melveny & Myers to "conduct a fair and independent review" after a complaint was raised to the organization's human resources department of "concerns around workplace environment by non-player personnel at the practice facility."

The firm has since interviewed dozens of former and current employees about Olshey and their experiences around the team's suburban practice facility.

In his nine-plus years running the Trail Blazers, the NBA has received no calls to the league office or its tips hotline alleging workplace complaints against Olshey, sources told ESPN. The Blazers' human resources department received no complaints on Olshey until recent weeks, Yahoo Sports reported.

Olshey signed a three-year contract extension in 2019 after the Blazers made the Western Conference finals. It kicked in with the 2021-22 season and extends through 2023-24. Olshey, who was hired in 2012 after nine seasons with the LA Clippers, has signed two extensions in his Portland tenure.

When the Blazers announced the extension in May 2019, owner Jody Allen made particular mention of the franchise's culture under Olshey: "...I have great confidence in the culture he has created in Portland, and I look forward to seeing it thrive and grow for years to come."

The Blazers have had little turnover in the front office or coaching staff and have reached the playoffs in eight straight seasons -- the longest active streak in the NBA. The organization and Olshey had been widely criticized for a lack of transparency on the research they did before hiring first-year coach Chauncey Billups, who was accused of rape in a 1997 civil suit. The team commissioned an independent investigation into the allegation but said details of that investigation were "proprietary."

Olshey has not publicly addressed the current probe into Portland's workplace environment. The Blazers haven't suspended Olshey while the investigation is ongoing, and he's continued to carry out his duties running the team. Once the Blazers elevated the HR complaint to the hiring of an outside firm, the leaguewide belief has been that Olshey's job and contract are in jeopardy.

Portland is 8-8 to start this season as All-Star point guard Damian Lillard has shot a career-low 38.4% from the field and averaged his fewest points per game since his rookie year. Lillard had expressed frustration over the summer at the team's lack of playoff success but has since affirmed his commitment to the franchise.

Terms reported by the media like "toxic environment" and "hostile workplace" felt to rival GMs as a campaign to trigger a firing for "cause," presumably a tactic to set up the voiding of the remaining years and salary on Olshey's contract. That's what worries rival executives and has hastened the urgency of finalizing an association that could help support front-office executives in situations like the one unfolding in Portland.

So Woj & Ramona (presumably being the mouthpieces of Olshey) have all but explicitly said this investigation is stemming from ownership wanting to void his contract as a way of saving $.

Weird contradiction considering they're paying Stotts still.

I imagine there are some legal reasons why the Vulcans wanted an investigation. But there has always been the simple fact: if Portland wanted Olshey gone, they could make it happen in a minute

now, in the off-chance that it was just corporate headquarters doing an independent, due-diligence investigation due to the weight of complaints and charges, and they weren't looking for cause....then if Seattle also feels like Woj is Olshey's mouthpiece (and they have to be blind not to see that possibility), Woj suggesting that the Vulcans are engaged in some dirty tactics isn't going to make the Vulcans happy with Olshey. That seems counter-productive for him
