We're in violent agreement.

On another note. How often do you change your Denny Crane Avatar? I got a good one for you:

Tyreke Evans. Because he's on a 1-year deal, the Blazers won't have his bird rights this summer. Meaning that if they want to keep him, they'll have no more than the taxpayer MLE, or about 5.5M to offer him. He'll almost undoubtedly command more than that, meaning that even if they trade for him now, there is virtually zero chance of Portland keeping him beyond this summer.
If we get under the luxury tax enough, we'd have the Full MLE, correct? That's ~$8.5M. EDIT: Just saw BNMs post.

The NBA should let teams sign player a to mutli-year deals with raises based on exceptions. Ex. Evans Yr1: $8.5M (MLE)
Evans Yr2: $14M (Early Bird)
Evans Yr3: $18M (Full Bird)

I'd support getting him and trying to win him over. He could make us much better this year, and if that's possible for someone were gonna lose anyway (Vonleh) and a 2nd round pick which we could buy back in the future, theres really no risk.

We'd have to be far enough below the apron that using the MLE wouldn't put us over. That'd be about 5M under the tax line to start. And then we'd be hard capped at the apron line.

Would y'all do Turner and a 1st for Evans and expirings? Could shed us Turners contract for a 1st, which is already an option we should look at. Opens up full MLE to resign Evans, who s basically a much better version of Turner. Memphis is already in cap space he'll with Conley, Parsons, and Gasol, and can't land FAs anyway, so maybe they'd value the pick enough to take Turner?

Please, please, please don't let him go to OKC! I'd definitely be in favor of Olshey cock blocking Presti on this one. Unlike Rod Strickland - The Sequel, we actually have a need for Evans. He could immediately be penciled as our starting SF and would be a HUGE upgrade.

With all things being equal, it'd work with simply shedding Turners or Leonard's contract.

In a heartbeat. Zero chance the Grizz would be interested in that though.

Sure if we could get Evans for the the MLE....but that sounds extremely impossible. And I think Memphis is happy with Brooks so not sure while they rebuild that they would want ET

Yes. And the apron is actually $6M * whatever the percentage increase of the cap is this year. If the cap goes up 5%, it's 6.3M over the tax line. So to offer "full MLE", we'd need to be sitting around 2.5M under the tax line without it.

It's not like they'd have to play him, just take on his contract to receive a 1st.

Then I'd raise the offer to:
Turner, Vonleh, 2018 POR 1st, 2019 MIN/LAL 2nd
Why would they want Turner at all? Surely Vonleh and picks isn't enough compensation to get them to take that albatross off our hands.

I'm only trading Napier for Evans if we at least get back the (best of) MEM/CHA 2nd round pick MEM has. Maybe would ask for two 2nd round picks. Napier is controllable for years and Evans is a likely rental.

They wouldn't want Turner, I'm just wondering if they'd take on his contract to receive the compensation. I feel like they might. Turner doesn't hurt future flexibility, as they have none. They're also not at the point where Turner would get them deep into the tax.

That's the kicker. We'd be hard capped at approximately $127M. So there would be a legitimate chance that we would be unable to re-sign Nurk, Ed, or other FA that we'd like to. Also, we wouldn't be able to trade taking on any more salary.

Give them Meyers, convince them he is the next Marc Gasol.

No chance Memphis would do that.

They may consider something like Turner + Meyers for Parsons + Evans... but I'm not sure on that.

Neil better get on this quick or Evans is gone
