So like.... are we too good to tank now?

Lol, I'm glad I'm living in reality cause wooooooah boy this last page.

You seemed to have quit watching the Blazers back on December 7th because there was nothing of interest. Are you making evaluations from the box scores?

I haven't watched a full game in 2+ years.

Until they care, I won't. But I am appreciating that I have the reality standpoint! Tells me what I am doing is the right way.

Which "they" need to care?

They sure are playing like they care and after the last game, Ayton said “I love it here.” I would highly recommend you watch them now. They’re a lot of fun to watch.

Ant is easily capable of eclipsing Dame. He's significantly taller, he's got better reach, he shoots better. Come on. Give him some credit and build him up and watch him fly.

The kid is just coming into his "I'm ready to rock" phase.

LOL

the "kid" will turn 26 in 4 months. 26 is the average age of an NBA player. Simons isn't a kid anymore. According to combine measurements, Simons is a half inch taller than Dame with a 3/4" advantage in reach. That ain't much

he's more than halfway thru his 7th season; this is his 4th season as a starter, and in the last 2 seasons, he's had a completely open runway to launch his career and "easily eclipse Dame". He hasn't even come anywhere close to the zip-code that is a couple of zip-codes away from where Dame was in his prime. And as poor as Dame was/is at defense, Simons is quite a bit worse

* by the way, the idea that Ant "shoots better"?....he has a career TS% of .565; Dame's mark is .590. Ant's best mark as a starter is .593; Dame's best is .645
* Ant's career PER is 13.8 and his best is 15.9; 14.7 this season (NBA average is 15.0). Dame career PER is 22.3 and his best is 26.9
* Ant's career assist rate is 19.1 and his best is 26.7. Dame has beat Ant's best in 12 seasons and his career mark is 30.7
* Ant's career winshare/48 is .054 and his best is .078 (NBA average is .100). Dame's career mark is .175
* Ant's career BPM is -1.3 and his best is 0.2, the only season he wasn't a net negative; Dame's career mark +4.6 and his best is +7.5

I remember hearing similar crap constantly about how CJ could end up better than Dame; how CJ would be an all-star if he only got away from Dame's shadow and had his own team. CJ got away to another team but he's never been an all-star and will never be one. But CJ has been better than Simons. Simons will have "eclipse" CJ before he sets his sights on Dame, and the clock is ticking

I still maintain that if CJ had been moved in his prime to some shitty team in the east, he could have been an All Star. Just look at Tyler Herro lol.

Word. Spittin' straight facts. I hate this idea that we have to get better players, we have to get more top draft picks or well suck!!! It's so untrue. Any NBA player can become an all-star/even superstar, especially players that show skills and talent like our current players. You just have to stop the stupid fucking tanking. Stop trying to be greedy and go for more or better picks. That holds your current players back and is stifling to them and most importantly (or egregiously), it tells them you don't have the confidence in them to ascend and you don't believe they can. You want someone else, someone new, shinier, "better". Fuck that.

Just stop trying manipulate things and play hard and with heart every game. Develop who you have. For God's sake, Anfernee FRICKIN Simons has scored something like high 20's in one quarter multiple times. If that isn't a "Batman", what the Hell is???? And people want to trade him away. People don't believe in him. The dude could be Dame 3.0 given the right coaching and support and opportunity. We have Deni and Tou now to provide the guards with that killer wing support. Let's fucking GOOOOO!

Even Jabari Walker has plenty of skill and talent to be a great wing, but there is the matter of opportunity; he has to sit to give minutes to his superiors. It is good to have the depth in case of injury, though. I think coaches should play deeper into the bench and bring out fresh legs more often and mix things up. Banton and Walker are perfect examples of this. It also throws a wrench into the opposing team's strategies. Murray and even Rupert (who was playing like a Camara protege) are also capable.

Anyway, you don't need a number one.

Look at fucking Banchero. Numero Uno Banchero. Absolutely right, we fucked him up TWICE and manhandled him like Shaq playing against a 12 year old kid.

We are ready now. Tanking is the worst thing about the NBA. On so many levels. The current draft system rewarding losing teams is braindead, but until they change it, you don't have to embrace it.
Never go full Kingspeed

that is unrealistic too.

We are in agreement with these 4 words.

In almost every scenario the odds are small, whether it is winning the lottery, trading a player for a pick that will actually make a difference, or getting our players to take a pay cut.

There was also one season he was going to be an All Star when he was with us but he got hurt. Everything I read online or heard in podcasts, they all believed in him that year if he didn’t get hurt.

I don’t know, but one thing I know is I haven’t been this excited for a Blazer game in awhile..

There’s been times this year where I turn a game on when it starts and within 10 minutes I lose complete interest

What's our playoff-push rotation? Will they stick with the Ant/Deni/Grant/Tou/DA starting lineup? Or will Scoot and/or Sharpe push their way in? If we actually reach the postseason, RW3 has to be ahead of DC on the depth chart, right? Whither Banton?

I think we'll still make trades. I know we're seeing a lot of success now and that should drive up the value of some of our guys. I guess we'll all know on Thursday.

I was dubious before this streak. At this point, I'll be shocked if they trade any vets. I think Cronin had been hoping for this all season, and these past two weeks have (in his mind) vindicated his team building. I bet he's fully convinced that this team as currently constructed can make a playoff push.

I think RWIII is gone. They aren't playing him deliberately. I could see him going to the Lakers.

You're probably right but I still hope for some action because I still don't think we are competitive in a playoff series if we can even get there. I still don't like Jerami's fit on this team. I still think Rob should be traded to a team that can use him to win now because I sincerely doubt he'll still be in the league when our team is ready to contend. I also still think if we can get any value for Ant we should... he's just not a great fit IMO.

Again though, you're probably right. This probably is vindication from Joe's perspective, so I should probably expect zero moves or if there is one for it to be on the fringes... like Duop for a second rounder or some shit.

Like I said in the post above this one, I think he should have value for a team ready to try and win it all right now but for a team whose best shot at titles is still a handfull of years away, I just don't think you can count on Rob's knees to hold up that long.

If this mother fucking team doesn’t sell at the deadline because of these asinine wins I’m gonna be pissed
I don't know if you're being sarcastic but this is my actual mindset. Take all of this momentum and sell Ant, Jerami and Rob. Each of them has shown in different games where they can be effective for a team trying to win now. I think we can get a better third guard to go with Scoot and Shaedon than Ant. I think moving Jerami will free up more minutes for all of your young talent. The reasons with Rob are just his health and whoever has Rob on their roster going into the playoffs should have a realistic shot at a title because he's too good and seems to have too short of a shelf life to not be playing in meaningful postseason games right now.

No sarcasm.

The tears of the tank boys are so salty but I don't taste them directly. I employ a warped minion to carry out such a foul deed.

It is still rather delicious to sit back and watch all these 3rd rate fans throw a fit about lottery odds and rage about trading talent away. Wow, what must it be like to be so blind and confused when it comes to the game of basketball.

Wookee said it best. Fuck tanking.
