We weren't that good in 2013-14. We hit a miraculous shot to win the first round and got our ass handed to us in round 2
It wasn't a miraculous shot. It was a wide open 3 and we won in 6 games. We never trailed in that series. We won 54 games in the regular season. That's not good? But now that the "not good" guys are gone, we're only going to win 24 games this year??? Makes no sense. Your argument that season was that we had no frontcourt depth if there was an injury. This year, we have incredible frontcourt depth. You make no sense.
You go KingSpeed!! I think you're overhyping this team but I love your enthusiasm. I hope you hang onto it because we're gonna need it if we hit some real rough patches and the rest of us are grumbling. And I guarantee you, if this team wins the championship this year, I will personally pay for your airfare so you can attend the victory parade. You deserve that for your faith alone. Having said that, how you get back to NYC is on you.......
Hahaha, thanks!!
While I think KS is greatly exaggerating how good we are, I do think we're going to do a lot better than people expect.
We have youth and length. All it really takes is to play good defense and not be sloppy with the ball on offense (stupid plays, turnovers, etc.) and you can keep the game close. .
Keep the game close?? We're blowing teams out this year.
They will never understand, Alberto. We'll have to run them off the forum just like we'll run teams off the floor.
Exactly.
Why can't people enjoy the win AND be able to keep things in perspective? It doesn't have to be black or white, all-or-nothing, the best or the worst, after every single game. I finally watched the first half from last night, that was fun. CJ looked amazing, and I love what Ed Davis brings.
I never said we were the best team. Never said we would win the championship this year. I said we are clearly BETTER than last year. Anyone with eyes can see that.
Perfect post! After we lose in PHX, it isn't the end of the world!
Who said it would be? Every team in the league loses games. It's the way it goes. I've never said we wouldn't lose games nor did I say I would panic if we did.
No. They are not better. Not yet.
They haven't ACHIEVED what the last year's team did but the pieces are better and the chemistry of those pieces is better.
Never have I said not to enjoy the win.......I am! I'm about to hop on a plane to Phoenix with 30 other people that are VERY happy. But I damn sure know Coach Stotts and Dame won't be jumping up and down about 1 god damn win over a tired injured team. Handled their business and now we move on to the next one.
I love seeing everybody freaking out about a win, but HATE seeing them jump off a bridge win we lose a game we should. Keep that shit real is what the players would say never too high or too low.
Who has jumped off a bridge when we lose a game? And since WHEN "should" we lose a game. And guess what WE have no control over the outcomes of the games. The players need to keep an even keel. That is their job. As a fan, it's not my job to win games. It's my job to cheer for them. We won't play better if I don't get too high after a win.
Yes we know; you artificially lower expectations to safeguard yourself from the pain of disappointment.
Then you belittle people who don't share your lowered expecations. Well I'll belittle you my man.
Exactly. It sounds like HCP is the one that wants to jump off a bridge after losses so he's overcompensating. As the season goes on, the word people will start using is "overachieving," but that is not what is happening here. The team is actually better. We are far more talented and deep. Last year, we had to heavily lean on our starters and 2 of them, Batum & Lopez, sucked. This year, we're 2, sometimes 3 deep at every position.
Pardon me for getting a bit salty, but who gives a shit what the players and coaches do or how they view a game or a win or whatever. We aren't players. We aren't part of the team. Our job isn't dependent on keeping a "proper mindset" regarding the team and its fortunes.
We're fans. We're emotionally invested in the team. We're not supposed to be rational, or be "never too high, never too low". We're supposed to care, maybe a little more than is healthy or reasonable.
If you want to keep yourself bottled up, and wait until 50 games into the season to decide whether or not the team is any good, that's your prerogative. But STFU with all this "that's how Dame would view it" shit. We're not him. We're fans, and fans are going to be fanatical. Deal with it.
Amen. Keeping yourself in "let's wait and see" mode after early season win accomplishes nothing. You don't help the team by reserving your opinion of them. I mean, after CJ hit his first three, should the crowd go silent and say "hm. It's early. I'll wait and see if he can make 5 and then I'll cheer." That is bullshit.
