The long wait is over, and the news is good: The Force Awakens heralds the new dawn you hoped for.

First things first: remember that trilogy of prequels (aka Episodes 1-III) from over a decade ago? We can finally file them away as the cashing-in cartoons they always were.

The Force Awakens is a real Star Wars movie, a proper entry in the canon which can be held to the same lofty standards as the “original” trio of releases.

While this alone would have justified the price of admission, The Force Awakens is always striving to do more than just restart the engine of a stalled franchise.

To the legion of fans for whom the Star Wars experience is almost a way of life, the prolific and multi-talented director of The Force Awakens, J.J. Abrams will be the person to thank.

Abrams has handled this new instalment in the long-running saga with exactly the right mix of gusto and good humour that was required.

That was in reply to KS

Really? What does that have to do with what @KingAlbertoJrSpeed posted?

When I tried to get tickets last month, it was already sold out at our movie theater in NYC til Dec 25th. So that's when I'm seeing it.

My son inlaw has been getting bit parts in tv shows and movies. No speaking lines. He was onscreen in the recent Steve Jobs movie for several minutes.

LOL, someone pulled the fire alarm at the Grove mall in LA here (really popular spot to watch movies). nerds are in uproar.

hah, I can buy tickets for the 10:30 show tonight. kinda drunk though. we'll see

Omg I'm mad as fuck.... That I have to wait 2-3 more years!!!! Sooo fucking good.
There's going to be one movie every year.

2015 - Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens
2016 - Rogue One - A Star Wars Story (set between Episodes 3 and 4; about how the Death Star plans were stolen)
2017 - Star Wars Episode VIII
2018 - Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo (set between Episodes 3 and 4)
2019 - Star Wars Episode IX
2020 - Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett (set between Episodes 3 and 4)

Holy fucking shit. That wasn't just a love letter to the fans; it was an apology for the prequels. All is forgiven.

I agree with all of this. Finn is awesome and Rey is amazing. Everything felt RIGHT. And for a movie this stuffed with stuff, it was pretty restrained.

And shit, the ending!

I just got back from seeing it, opened at midnight here last night, so 16hrs ago, i went to a midday session.

It was fucking AMAZING.

JJ Abrams should make any and all movies even remotely close to being in the ballpark of SW, he 100% gets it.

The new cast was really solid, the new girl is fantastic!

Good amount of humor and the talk/style of speech is definitely modernised - but overall....... 9/10 easy - could be more....

I can't think of another movie that I've lusted for pt2 of as much in recent times. going again saturday!

If anyone has any Q's - shoot me a pm! :)

Yeah. I saw it tonight and recommend it highly. It was obvious they had the fans in mind with this one. Somebody should give the casting director an Oscar. And getting Lawrence Kasdan on board this time was probably a major reason it's so good. He's one of the best classic screenwriters in Hollywood history.

Has the rapture happened??? Are we all in heaven? It sure feels like it...

I actually enjoyed it but the experience was ruined by a group of 6 dorks immediately after the movie in the way to their car freaking out and analyzing shit

sent from a phone you've probably never heard of

This movie doesn't open in China until next month! Is it normal for big movies like this to be released so much later in China?
