Just reading the tea leaves, but Woj is Neils mouthpiece, and Haynes is Dames. Earlier in the day Woj came out with the prospective names which didn’t include Kidd. Immediately after we got Dames public statements through Haynes endorsing Kidd.

We know Dame has a direct line to management. It’s likely he expressed his desire for Kidd and it wasn’t well received, which is why it went public through Haynes so he can put pressure on the FO. But the FO likely knows that Kidd is a bad hire. They just need to play the game the right way to not piss off Dame.

but dame also endorsed Billups?

I mean clearly Billups is the second choice for him. I think he wanted to gauge the reaction to Kidd for one.

I mean sure but its like me liking pizza more than burgers. I’d still be happy with the burger

I actually agree with you. Personally I don’t want Jason Kidd. Not because of his past. But you gotta understand in this climate there’s a lot of social stances that takes priority.

FUCK these social stances. This is a high-stakes professional business with millions of dollars and championships at stake. This is not a fucking High School drama class. I am beyond sick of hearing about this bullshit being injected into sports.

In as far as Kidd goes, I can look past the DV charge under two conditions: 1) it sounds like he has a drinking problem, and 2) it may have been mutual, according to the divorce proceedings.

However, as someone who has had 10 run-ins with drunk drivers, including a double-fatality, the one thing I cannot look past is his 2012 DUI arrest.

Kidd married his first wife, Joumana, in 1997. In January 2001, he was arrested and pleaded guilty to a domestic abuse charge for assaulting her. As part of his plea, Kidd was ordered to attend anger management classes for six months. Kidd completed the mandatory counseling and continued to attend on his own. He and his wife were both active in their church and were thought to have completely reconciled. The incident, however, would be considered a catalyst for the Suns to trade Kidd to the Nets that year. On January 9, 2007, Kidd filed for divorce, citing "extreme cruelty" during their relationship. He contended intense jealousy, paranoia, and the threat of "false domestic abuse claims" to the police as reasons for the divorce. On February 15, 2007, Joumana Kidd filed a counterclaim for divorce,[88] claiming that the NBA star—among countless instances of abuse—"broke her rib and damaged her hearing by smashing her head into the console of a car". The couple have three children: Trey Jason (T.J.), born October 12, 1998, and twins Miah and Jazelle, born September 26, 2001.[89][90]

On September 10, 2011, Kidd married Porschla Coleman, a former model.[91] They have two children.

On July 15, 2012, Kidd was arrested by Southampton Town police and charged with a misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated.[92] According to police, around 2 a.m. Kidd's vehicle struck a telephone pole and ended up in the woods a few blocks away from his home.[93]

He clearly has a drinking problem, and I don't want this guy anywhere near this team. Too much baggage, and not good enough to make it irrelevant.

My mom always said that once the milk spoils, you can't unspoil it.

Dame going public feels like the first sign of milk spoiling, I am so sad to say.

Well, this is what happens when you piss away a dude's prime. He's not young anymore. He realistically only has a few years left at a high level. I can understand him wanting to take control of things..... however I'm not sure his judgement is very good and honestly his suggestions have been pretty bad.

I mean if we get bounced in round 1 next year after the coaching change we will probably have to trade him.

I’m not worried about Dame until his agent gives Woj a list of 4 teams he wouldn’t mind playing for.

Dame would give that to Haynes.

Olshey is the one who gives info to Woj.

You’re all over the place. So yes or no? No because off court issues? Or yes who cares? Pick a lane

This season, as the defense continued to be a problem and Stotts struggled to find a fluid rotation, he struggled to reach his players. Behind the scenes, there were growing concerns about his ability to make in-game adjustments, a fact illustrated in April in Los Angeles when the Blazers played at the Clippers.

According to two sources, Lillard was taunted throughout the game by a Clippers player, who mocked that the Blazers didn’t have a coach who could adjust to the Clippers’ trapping defense on Lillard. The Blazers were stifled 133-116 in that game while Lillard was held to 11 points on 2-of-14 shooting.

lmao wow
Its suprising that it took this type of incident for Dame to notice

Dame is probably the reason stotts was not fired years ago. Sad to think what wr could have done with another coach, but the real cancer of the team is cj, he should be a 6th man not a 30 million dollar #2

I honestly believe that if this team hires Jason Kidd I will be done. I just don’t think I can root for him to succeed.
If we hire the worst coach possible, I could still hope for the best and rally behind him/her, but hiring someone who pled guilty for domestic abuse and a drunk driver, who was so drunk he hit a damn telephone pole, would probably end my relationship with the team.
So the good news would be
1. A pair of season tickets would become available
2. The forum wouldn’t have to deal with my snark any longer
