Tank for Wembanyama

Much greater chance of picking #1 than drafting at #5.

Here's the chart. Currently only a 2.2 % chance at the #5 pick.

Am I reading that right (I probably am not) that Detroit has almost a 50/50 chance at getting completely boned (getting the #5 spot)???

And if Portland finishes in the #5 spot, thats the least likely draft spot they'd end up in??

I'm confused (someone tell me how it works, and imagine you're talking to HCP).

I do get excited when they are able to figure out what team to see show up letting us know Portland moves up, etc.

Add column 1. Should add up to 100. From there the NBA decided spots 1-3 get even odds, 14%. So on and so on. So 1-3 get 140 balls, #4 gets 12.5%, or 125 balls. All math from there.

Wizards play the Magic on Friday. Thats a crucial game. One team that worries me is the Pacers

Tankathon has the Blazers taking Edey in the second round.

I'm just trying to picture a summer league team with Wembanyama, Edey, Badji and Butler.

Yes, you're correct on both of those. Detroit has a 47.9% chance of getting the 5th pick.
And for the Trail Blazers, other than the 9th pick (a 0.7% chance) the least likely ending spot would be the 5th pick.

It’s @THE HCP bro!

This shit is so confusing FAMS! How can the team with the worst record in the league have the same chances to get the #5 pick as they are the top 4 combined!!?? What kinda shit is that?

Detroit always gets hosed in the draft. They're in a perpetual state of crumminess.

This was absolutely insane. I remember calling my girlfriend (now my wife) maniacally telling her we won the lottery. Much to her disappointment she thought I was talking about the real lottery.

Let’s replicate these vibes this year!

Looks like someone makes a cameo in this as well.

This might be the happiest I've been as a Blazers fan since 2000; crazy to think that has now been 23 years!

Houston 0.9, OKC bye bye, and Denver game 7 are the other 3 highlights

I often peruse this board,
though sometimes I choose to ignore.

With the team near the bottom of rankings,
the idea appears that we're "tanking".

I laugh at this silly notion,
as if losing is a magical potion.

Without some young development
it's hard for a team to get relevant.

As I ponder this thought with disdain,
it's the fans that can't handle the pain.

So they invent a ridiculous theory,
season's losing has made them all weary.

To hell with this team and it's stanking,
I know.....they have to be tanking!

So I'll yell it from top or' the mountain,
the anger, it flows like a fountain.

In the end, every win is precious,
and losing is never "selfless"

The team I want, is a hero,
if they fight till the clock reads zero.

I've pondered this poem for a minute,
concerned I might push all your limits.

Since you've read this and lingered,
You're welcomed to give me the finger.
I like the Doctor Seuss X vibe.

Hard to say right now since additional players will rise during workouts, but I was thinking if we land 1-3 we keep it.
Anything after that we look to trade the pick. However, now I am leaning towards only keeping it if it is #1.

Last year I wanted to keep the pick no matter what, and I feel justified in thinking so. This year, even though it is supposed to be a deep draft, I am not feeling it.

my take is that it's almost always best to keep a top-10 pick and roll the dice

and I think that's even more the case now because teams aren't just demanding a 1st for a non-all-star level player...they are demanding multiple 1st's. We heard that Toronto was demanding three 1st's for Anunoby...fuck that noise

I'm convinced the Blazers should keep their pick this coming draft. That's mainly because I don't believe there will be a good enough player available for a top-6 pick

I agree to a point. Teams like OKC are stockpiling picks and might as well overspend to get a good fit. It's not like they can keep all the players when you are limited to 15 players on a team. But teams like Toronto aren't demanding multiple lottery picks, just multiple 1st round picks? So maybe someone like Scoot Henderson could help bring back a damn good forward from a team who has multiple wings and no PG.

Yeah I think you can count the number of players who would be "worth it" and also feasibly attainable (even when what-iffing playoff fallout drama and whatnot on one hand...) Embiid, Giannis, Jaylen Brown, Kawhi, maybe Jimmy Butler? Everyone else is either unobtainable or an overpay, I think...

Given our draft pick position and other picks/players available, I’d say we are a likely suitor for a trade IF we lose the lottery and the winning team is willing to trade Wemby.

Everything you hear makes him sound consensus.

Would be so wild if we won the lottery.
