Zombie THE 2012 BIDEN/RYAN DEBATE - THE BATTLE OF CHAPLIN HILLS II

Yawn.

You don't need to be a Democrat to know who dominated this debate.

The CNN poll begs to differ.

Well, here's one independent vote for Ryan. Biden's constant eye rolling, head shaking... is what I see attorneys with very weak cases do in court. Juries hate it. Also, and this is no surprise, Biden lies a lot. He always has. That said, Ryan isn't immune to spinning things. If it were a fight and I were scoring it, I'd say Ryan 123-119.

I could see how, if you were one of the diehards that thought Obama "tied" last week, that this would be a "domination"

Who was the last Democrat you voted for? Honestly.

All the poll means is that more Republican's decided to take the time to vote than Democrats.

Republicans don't watch CNN or vote in their polls.

Certainly not in bigger numbers than Democrats.

Oh, I just thought it had a few somewhat interesting remarks.....including this:

BIDEN:Yes, maybe the giant grins and verbosity were a little much, but Biden is Biden — a regular guy who loves combat. He dominated the debate (which, in my opinion, isn't the same as saying he won it) and showed more energy in the first five minutes than Barack Obama did over 90 minutes last week. Democrats dispirited by Obama last week got a jolt from Joe.

RYAN: Overall, a perfectly fine showing. But the longer the discussion went on any given topic, the weaker Ryan looked. He is three decades younger than Biden and did not do much to narrow that maturity gap. More importantly, though, he held his own and probably fired up many Republicans.

Who was the last Democrat you voted for? Honestly.

The last election I voted close to 50/50. When I lived in Oregon I always voted for Wyden and Kitzhaber. I plan on voting for the democrat running for the US House from my district.

VP Debate Results: Biden Tears Ryan Apart

Biden came out swinging tonight and landed some solid hits tonight. Right out the gate he was stepping all over Ryan's arguments and trashed Ryan's critique of the stimulus by pointing out how Ryan himself had begged for more money for his district. This debate has also clearly revealed just where each ticket stands on foreign policy, and the GOP is not on the right side of it on Afghanistan and Iran. Ryan's reputation as a truth teller has been effectively shredded, with most people on Twitter seeming to laugh at his "honesty" remark. He also didn't have the gravitas to compete against Biden, giving a tone of voice that made him sound whiny rather than giving the impression that he is having a heart-to-heart with the American people. And I expect that Romney campaign spokesmen will be denying some of his comments on Afghanistan after this too.

From this link:
addatz: What national security threat justifies the defense spending increase? Ryan cites defense cuts, but Raddatz notes those all come from the drawdown in Afghanistan. Ryan's basic rationale is that we can't cut the Navy below WW1 levels as that makes us week. Even though no one else's Navy is remotely as strong as ours, by a factor of ten.

Leaving out of it completely why our Navy should be large, we're not even the largest Navy in the world, in terms of people or ships. We have half of the world's aircraft carriers and over half of the cruisers, but China has more submarines (and about the same # of ships, total), Russia has about the same # of ballistic missile subs, etc. Credibility loss.

I highly disagree that Iran has no weapons system capable of utilizing the enriched uranium.

"they're spinning the centrifuges faster" - Ryan. I know what he's saying, but spinning the centrifuges faster isn't what's happening.

You think they do or don't have weapons systems that can deliver a nuke?

I don't think they need a rocket. They just need a suicide bomber.

Do you have any facts to back that up?

They were all watching Fox News or listening to Rush Limbaugh, right?

(Actually, you'd think they were all watching Fox - or in enough quantity that they wouldn't overwhelm democrats on CNN's site(.

Presedential candidates.

I voted for Jimmy Carter in 1976. Last democrat I'll ever vote for in the presidential elections.

I voted for Reagan twice. The only republican I ever voted for, period.

I voted for Harry Reid in 2006 when I lived in Vegas. I regret it, big time. At the time, it seemed like having my state's senator as leader of the senate (majority leader) would be a good thing.

EDIT: I voted for Jerry Brown for governor of California.

CBS News poll shows Biden won 50-31.

Big difference between nuclear bomb/missile and a dirty bomb. Dirty bombs are severely overrated as people-killers, and go off of scare tactics and people's lack of knowledge of radiation and effects.

But even a "fizzle" of a nuclear bomb (or one carried on a short-range missile) would do some heavy damage.

Put it this way, even the relatively crude weapon tested by NK in 2009 was 5-15 kT, between half of and the same size as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

I wasn't suggesting a dirty bomb. Those could be made without anything Iran is doing.

You're a Republican.

I started as a registered democrat. Then I switched to republican. Now I'm a registered independent as I learned that neither party has all the answers. I would say over the last 3 elections I've voted 60/40 republican.

I see what you're saying. While you could, in theory, have a suitcase nuke or a tactical nuke that just required someone to drop it off, you're not getting one into, say, Israel or NYC. If you want to have a fission weapon, there's a significant radiological signature that comes with it, and you can't just import those.

The thing about nukes is you don't have to be so accurate.

I don't think they'd try to ship an assembled nuke into NYC. More likely they'd assemble it on a boat and park it in a harbor.

I don't think they need much of a rocket to deliver a nuke from Gaza into Israel.

Bottom Line: I'm not keen on our national security leaders laughing off Iran's nuclear program by saying "don't worry about it...they don't have a weapon to put uranium on if they had it!"
