this 'CJ-would-be-an-all-star-in-the-East' narrative has been around for a while and I just don't think it's based upon reality
the idea he's be a good number one option is also highly questionable. He has had only average efficiency as a scorer and shooter so far, and that's with Dame getting all the attention of the defenses. He's never had to play through and overcome an opposing defense when it has been prepared to make him the primary focus. He's drafted off of Dame for 4 years and suddenly, he'd go to the East and be 'the man' for several teams? No team with CJ as the number one option is going anywhere in the playoffs IMO
stick him on some generic east team and give him 3 more shots a game (and god knows how many more dribbles). He'd then be 2nd behind Harden in the number of FGA's a game and he'd still only be 15th in the league in scoring. And that's under the highly questionable assumption he could maintain his current efficiency without any drop-off due to defensive attention
5 guards in an all-star game. I'm looking at those lists and seeing 8 or 9 players that are better than CJ. And for every player like Kyle Lowry who would be dropping out due to age, there are young guys like Trae Young and Sexton and Richardson on their way up
