If his knee has not recovered after 3 years of rehab, when is it ever going to recover?

well, to be fair he had surgery in Feb of 2012. Don't know if that's the knee he had swelling in.

Oops...Sorry about the clutter. I guess I was just super stoked about my very first thread!

Thanks for linking me with BD!

He should really call it quits although I know he wont. Oden is just doing more damage on his knee every time something like this happens and he tries to come back.. It's really hard giving up something you've worked so hard for. Hopefully this will be the last time. He can get a job on TNT or something.

LOL! There's nothing to be sorry for.

Also don't waste your first thread on a broken down player like Oden.

He needs the million bucks. We paid him $23.3 million and Miami is paying $1.0M. Divide by 100.

Imagine if you had made $233,000 in your career, injury (there is no Workers Comp) ended your career, minimum wage is 9 cents per hour, you have nothing to offer TNT and they know it, and some sucker in Miami offers you $10,000 for 9 months of work.

Go for it. Pretend there's a chance.

He probably goes though more money in a year than he makes or close to it. It's easy to do when you see a million dollar paycheck and you think you have a lifetimes worth of money in a 3-5 year span.

No, I think he has saved most of it. You always see party pictures of a sofa straight out of college life. He doesn't pay for glorious, rich man parties.

I feel badly for Greg. I think it would be great if he could achieve some basketball success. So then, why do I feel relieved when I hear his knee is swollen, which implies he may never?

Oden is a party animal and he drinks a lot.

because (at least for me) it kind of validates them waiving him and we won't hear from a couple posters how it was a big mistake he was waived and that he can still dominate.

I have same feelings. I feel bad for GO, but at the same time somewhat relieved. (And how bad can you feel for someone who made multi millions of dollars in professional basketball even though he has a body that can't play at the NBA level for a long period of time.)

I don't feel bad at all for Greg. Sure he had unfortunate injuries, but the dude had the world in his hands, made .millions and decided to become an alcoholic. Waste of talent and an idiot.

And he'll become much more than an alcoholic if he goes down again.

When know (or atleast I think we do) that if he did just stay healthy. He would be awesome. So I agree this is tough that this problem is going to stop him from leaving a mark on the history of the game. Feel for him.

He left a mark on the history of the game, just not the good kind.

You're a bit unclear on what an alcoholic is, I see.
