The Nurk injury update thread

Make sense when you talk.
No one can prevent injuries. Nor can they be legislated out of the game.
How bout you take your own advice bro? SMH. Along with KS, you say some of the most non-sensical shit in this forum. Just cuz your a ref doesn’t make you an expert on anything. And try to comprehend the message I was trying to communicate before responding with your drivel. Did I say anything about refs in my post? So, to you, I say “make sense when you talk.” And maybe you should learn the difference between “talking” and “posting”. How ‘bout you start there DA? Lol

I thought the refs in the Brooklyn game did a bad job at setting the tone to give players space to land long before the Nurkic injury.

I'm not sure why.

There were multiple foul calls rewarding 3 point shooters in that game. Dame consistently gets those calls. Zach was called for it twice.

Dame got kicked in the knee and they literally called a call we almost never see.

They were obviously watching legs of the airborne shooter in that game.

Stop blaming refs. It has nothing to do with them.

Actually, it does fucking make me the expert.

In the paint that game there were guys undercutting each other basically from the tip. Has nothing to do with 3 point shooters, though Zach should try to stop fouling them...

Didn't Blame the refs.

But Stotts said he will use the rest of the regular season to tinker and experiment with lineups and rotations, searching for combinations that can keep the Blazers afloat as they chase home-court advantage in the playoffs. Members of the Blazers coaching staff held a brief meeting with their big men during a Tuesday shootaround to tell them their roles would be expanding and the team would need more from each of them moving forward. Then, Stotts and his coaching staff gathered Wednesday morning at the team hotel in Chicago to bat around ideas for how they would move forward. In addition to Kanter, Collins and Leonard, Stotts said the Blazers will likely give third-year big man Skal Labissiere an opportunity, too.

“We had a good discussion …” Stotts said. “We’re not looking for answers right now. We’re looking for possibilities. And the next two weeks we’re going to be able to sort through some things.”
This is the right approach. https://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/...ocker-room-during-first-game-without-him.html

Stotts just got a lot thrown on his plate with back to back disasters....I think he is fucking busy trying to adjust with the playoffs around the corner...he's doing a lot right now and when he can take a breath and Nurk isn't stoned on morphine I'm sure he'll get together with him in Portland.
Nurk is getting plenty of love from the team and Stotts is part of that.

"If Nurkic follows his recovery plan, he could return around October.

With his toughness, medical squad, teammates and Rip City behind him, it could be sooner."

there's some contradictions between what the doctor actually said and what the writer speculated.

the doctor said it took an average of 41 weeks for a return. And that was for just a Tibia fracture, not for when both leg bones had been fractured. And obviously, that average wasn't an average among 7 foot tall 290 pound people

the first of October is 26 weeks away, almost 4 months sooner that the average for a single bone fracture...and this OLive writer is suggesting it could be sooner than that? Sure seems like he's just pulling that out of his ass because it doesn't match what the doctor was saying

On the other hand, Nurk may decide not to play BBall again and live the life of a king in South Bosnia. Hell, His country may recruit him for whatever nefarious plan they need done.

I agree. February seems like the very soonest.

The next Season is going to be so damn brutal to watch if Neil wont be able to do something magic this Offseason. Probably no Kanter, no Hood and no Seth anymore on the Team and Nurk out for the most part of the Season and we have to watch Meyers because nobody wants him. Fuck my life

I have a hard time imagining Nurk coming back before the All Star (vacation).

Can't we see what actually happens this summer before complaining about something that might not even be as bad as you make it out to be?

2016 a lot of teams gave out big (and mostly bad) contracts, so i assume theres a lot of guys who this summer become “expiring” contracts, how do you think ET and Meyers compare to some of those other guys?

I don't think it matters really how those guys compare to other players on expiring deals. What matters the most, in my opinion, is what teams are willing to give up along with those expiring deals. In theory at the draft Portland could offer to take someone with their pick for another team and include future 1st rounders in 2020, 2022, and 2024. Throw in guys like Collins, Simons, Skal, and Trent and we can come up with some pretty good packages for stars that might become available. If CJ is healthy and on the table then that becomes an option too.

I still think that by the end of this season when all is said and done no one will want to get rid of Collins. He is about to get some major run and it will include playoff games.

Yes, but that also ups his trade value in a deal for someone like Anthony Davis though.
