You are spot on. This morning on Golic and Wingo, Bruce Bowen said the NBA is too good to be running junk defenses (what he was calling that Box and 1). He shared a story from his playing days that they went out against the Knicks and Ewing and started the game pressing and Ewing looked at him and laughed. Bowen's point was these guys have too much talent to run gimmicks against. Toronto got lucky the Warriors weren't taking what the defense gave them and missed quite a few wide open shots, it wasn't the brilliance of the defense - although in my mind, good on Nurse for taking a shot and making it close in the end.
I thought there were a couple of factors. It's not a great defensive scheme in the NBA because of the talent, but GS isn't used to seeing it, so it seemed to catch them off guard. Also with Klay and KD out, they're really hoping to get stuff at the rim, and for Curry to hit shots. That defensive scheme isn't that "bad" when they don't have scorers out there. Also I thought GS was trying to kill clock and just get out of there with a W. They had shots and weren't taking them, and some of those same guys had those same shots earlier and were taking them.

Yeah, an obvious adjustment that:
1.) We were all calling for
2.) Shouldve came before game 1
3.) An adjustment the team wasnt ready for because that was the first time we ran that defense all year.

I have no intentions of defending Terry when it comes to defensive adjustments. But I do think the fact Toronto played at home in their last game vs the Bucks and then had 4 nights off before playing again at home to play the Warriors and then another two nights off before playing the Warriors again at home in game two.......gave the Raptors a little more practice time then the Blazer had who played in Denver in game 5 and had 1 night off before game 1 in Oakland.

All true.

Looney out for the rest of the playoffs with fractured ribs. Thompson questionable for tomorrow. Durant better speed up his healing.

Oh, the irony.
I honestly believe Dame initially hurt his ribs in the OKC series. there was a play I believe in game 3 where he came up clutching his chest. Im sure Looney diving on him (Still not sure how thats not a foul...) sure didn't help though.

I love that Klay hurt himself flopping. Karma at its best! Well, Harden and CP hurting each other on the same flop would be its best best...

FUCK. YES.

I never laugh about injuries. I'm gonna giggle my muthafuckin ASS off about this though!!

That's what the FUCK you get Klay!!!

Curry does the same shit! I hope he gets injured flopping too. #yesisaidit

Cant cheer for injuries, cant find it in me, but it did make me smile a bit that he injured himself flopping trying to get a call.

It was a stupid injury. Who shoots like that?
I have a nephew that watches these guys and tries this crap all the time. Sick and tired of telling him to shoot correctly and the rest will take care of itself.
He is so into falling over after shooting a three he forgets about clean solid shooting form.

Let him know, if I referee him and he does some floppy crap like that, I'll leave him on the floor and chuckle on the way back to my spot.

Look bro, If you flop, you're a liar, a whiner, and you deserve the consequences from being a dishonest complainer.

Who the Hell lies and then whines to the dude he's lying to that they fucked up?? Really MF??? I JUST watched you flop!

I hate and don't wish injuries. I hate flopping even more.

Lying + whining + acting = Flopping.

Actually Canadians also refer to themselved as Americans. Just like how we may call ourselves, Oregonians, US Citizens, or Americans. We typically tend to think we have a monopoly on being “American”, but we don't.

Edit: Dont know if the central Americas and Mexicans refer to themselves as Americans or not, but they could and they’d be correct.
I covered Canada for 25 years and never heard any Canadian call themselves Americans.

I understand all that, just dont like guys getting injured.

A lot of the time flopping cause more harm on your body than good though, so if you’re going to practice flopping and putting your self in positions to get hurt, then expect to get hurt... I definitely dont feel sorry for him.

I'd hate to see that. The double teams in a box and 1 come from near everywhere. Terry Stotts would not be able to adjust.
Gonna disagree with you on that and leave it alone.

Kind of depends IMO, is Nurk / CJ playing because they should be able to pretty easily beat a box and one healthy. I think what made the box and one so effective was really the only big scoring threat was Steph. The other guys out there weren't very reliable, Cousins had a good game but he definitely isn't back in game shape yet. Now playoff time, Dame / CJ / Stotts do tend to do a lot of try to beat guys off the dribble instead of move the ball and take good shots, and it might work against them.

I think that depends on how the box-1 is played. There are many variations. You can coach it so the ballhandler always has an on ball defender and players in the gaps and help line.

I think it would frustrate Stotts personally.

Come on now, I'll admit that curry will flop (and I hate it) and do the crap where he jumps into the defender but Klay doesn't do that stuff. Watch the play, are you saying he wasn't bumped? After jumping straight up his body moves to the left as green runs into him. I love that these playoffs have been very physical and I don't think there should have been a foul called on that play but to say he flopped, and then gloat about an injury...not a good look.

NO. He was not bumped.

If he was, the contact was marginal and that floppy BITCH deserves his injury. That's what he gets for calling their whole team "light work".

I hope he's injured for the whole series for being a flopper.

And realistically, I could care less what a former Laker fan thinks. You probably just became a Warriors fan and don't even know who Mookie Blaylock is...

What a load of crap. I bet it didn't take much for you to subscribe to that bullshit notion.

He jumps straight up into his vertical plane, and lands in the same spot with NO movement either way, except spreading his legs like an IDIOT.

He gets what he deserves.

When does he get bumped? Green seems to jump behind him while closing out from the side. Klay's Form seems fine, then when he realizes Green didn't hit him at the 4 second mark, he kicks his legs out trying to get contact, which caused him to land awkwardly and hurt himself. I see this as just straight up acting/flopping, he tried to initiate contact by throwing out his legs, it's literally a play that if he had made contact with green it should've been an offensive foul.

Not really sure how to post video here but this angle shows it pretty clearly I think.

And just for the record, I’m one of the real warrior fans, since run tmc days. I think I’ve probably even got my old starter jacket somewhere! The bandwagon guys piss me off too, lol
