Damn. Thats a hell of a spike. Fucking sucks.

Like, I get it, its holidays and its lonely as fuck. But you wanna know whats a more lonely feeling? When they dead and you don't get the next holidays with them.

Its ONE year. And if people comply, they get as many as nature allows after that.

Why the fuck are people so myopic in this?

I digress. I also shouldn't lump every sick person to the holiday. But its just frustrating.

If you want to work in a school, you should get the vaccine. If you are too scared to do so, there are plenty of teachers willing to fill in

Schools are an interesting place to take a stand IMO. Children are nearly unaffected by the virus. I would think elder care facilities and hospitals would be the big ones, since the sick and/or elderly make up an overwhelming majority of the fatalities.

60% Latinos. Gotta target that demo most to stop the spread.

Just close the schools. If workers don't go to work, kids don't need to go to school. Let them learn how to use a computer and learn online. It's the future

Then convert the buildings into shelters, half way houses or low low rent homes for the homeless.

Homeless should be provided food and shelter in exchange for freedom, but with work skills and mental health care provided. Their presence on the street is a public health hazard, and they need to learn how to get out of being homeless.

That could be part of the deal too. I was just providing a solution to get them off the streets.

LA is a total shithole right now. More than usual.

Poorly ran, city of squalor. Even the nice areas suck right now.

No surprise we have probably the worst numbers around

I know they can learn from home, the last year showed us that. I just worry about mental health and the ability to socialize. In the bigger picture, a lot of domestic issues have arisen as a result of lockdowns as well. As much as I think government is inept in most areas, I think public school has it’s place in society.

I think the consequences of having kids sitting at home for this long are huge. Education, social, physical/sports, it’s been awful. Are they “learning”? I guess maybe a little. But it’s not even close to being there in person. I watch my 8-11-14 year olds sitting at a desk for 7,8 hours with little breaks here and there and it makes me sick. Adults shouldn’t do that, let alone kids.

I'm hoping this all ends soon so I can have a sick bachelor party. We'll need more than COVID-19 Vaccines tho.

We know no such thing. There is only 6 months of study data.
Which is more than enough to know that a larger percentage of the overall population gets sick or dies from covid-19 than the percentage of vaccinated people who get sick from the vaccine and covid-19 combined.

And it's not close.

Smartest thing I've read you post yet!

This vaccine release is a cluster fuck. People should be fighting in line to get it. We need to get politics out of the way, and bring in marketing professionals to handle it. I am coming out of retirement to show you kids how to make everyone want the vaccine.

Almost everyone consumes products proven to cause negative long term health affects. Combine the vaccine with these products, and everyone will be vaccinated.

Place the Vaccine in sugary soda, beer, and pot. I'll take my vaccine in a cigar. There are tons of options to fit any need.

Covid is gone, and everyone is happy getting there.
I really like the cigar method since I don't drink that often and I gave up weed a long time ago.

If you believed my analogy yesterday was messed up, I'll try to do better today. My intent is to bring non-political levity to the lousy situation we all face.

Rediculous reason #2 why you should take the vaccine.

Today, you are 007, James Bond. Driving your special car while being chased by billions of bad guys that want to cause you harm, or worse.

The bad guys are close enough to shoot at your car. Quick, speed up and get out of range (social distance).

Oh no, thry are attacking from a helicopter, and one of the bad guys is on top of the car. Lock all the doors and close the vents (wear a mask).

Darn the bad luck. The bad guy on the roof is Jaws. He just ripped open the roof and is now sitting in your passenger seat ready to do all kinds of nasty things to you. This is the end.

No wait, you have one more trick up your sleeve, push the ejection seat button (vaccine).

The threat is gone, you live another day. Enjoy it resting on an island full of bikini clad babes all competing to please you, the only male. Thanks covid vaccine.

Darn Youtube, they now have a ton of old James Bond movies up, for free.

Oh I dont disagree there either. I was more just saying psychologically why it may be easier for a person to light up the cigarette or place the bet or what have you, and not for a contagious disease. They already have all the foundation in their brain to make the decision in an addiction and the cognitive dissonance to do it... though I suppose there's cognitive dissonance in not wanting to get vaccinated as well.

If I were to be fair, I feel like I'm arguing semantics more than anything. But that is how psychology works... within the grey.

Myself, im gonna wait and let the people that need it more than I to go first. Not because I'm afraid of the side effects, but moreso just needing to see what kind of effaciy this brings.

Fauci did also say that it should be about late march/early April for people with no underlying conditions to get the vaccine, and probably around fall when social limitations will really ease up and "normalcy" may come back. However, im probably getting the vaccine earlier for the pure fact that I work in a Healthcare setting.
Psychological addiction is called habituation and is different than a physical addiction.

If people won't wear masks do you really think they're going to get the vaccine?

"Normal" might not happen for years.

The people not wearing the masks are the same kinds of people that I am okay with not getting the vaccine. Survival of the fittest, just in this case it's mental fitness.

I would agree with you except that with them not getting vaccinated, it prolongs achieving herd immunity.

Unfortunately you’re correct, and that’s what these selfish assholes don’t understand. Although we may all be individuals, we all make an impact on our society and community as a whole. This is why anti vaxers are so incredibly dangerous.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, suffered an anaphylactic reaction that required hospitalization and monitoring, and will not be receiving the second dose of the vaccine, officials said during a press briefing on Wednesday. She had no prior history of allergies and took a Benadryl to relieve the symptoms but it did not work.

Once she was admitted to Bartlett Hospital's emergency room, her symptoms resolved within moments of receiving epinephrine. She also received Pepcid and Benadryl via an intravenous drip, according to a press release. She is in stable condition and is scheduled to be released later Wednesday.

"We expected that a side effect like this could occur after reports of anaphylaxis were made in England after people there received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine," said Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anne Zink. "All sites that are approved to provide vaccinations in Alaska must have medications on hand to deal with an allergic reaction and that was the case in Juneau."

Alaska health officials said there would be no changes to vaccine distribution plans following the incident, and that the woman had been excited to receive the vaccine.

The adverse reaction is the first such instance in the U.S.

I went into anaphylactic shock about 5 years ago. My airway was blocked and breathing was extremely difficult. Fortunatly I always have a benadryl handy do to a bee sting allergy.

What caused my anaphylatic shock? Alcohol. I drank alcohol for years, but developed an allergy to it at an old age.

So using your logic of not taking the covid vaccine because a few people are allergic to it. Everyone should stop drinking alcohol because a few people are allergic to it.
