small $$ savings, and stretched out, a smaller cap hit. If Martin is bought out, instead of 7a year for 2 years, they can stretch it to that 14 against the cap over 5So what's the advantage of buying out a player? I've seen that a lot this year, but don''t understand what advantage it is to the team.
Why are the clippers wanting to trade Crawford? He's been great for them hasn't he?
LOL biggest bust ever?
That's not fair to Bennett, he should have never been taken #1. That's on the Cavs. Dumbest #1 pick ever, perhaps.
Two things that won't work. To claim the player, the team with the worst record has first dibs, then so on. Second, you need enough cap space to absorb his total contract, because you assume the contractual responsibility for that player. We could just claim Martin before he clears waivers to guarantee he comes here, right? If so, trade for Chanlder, and claim Martin. There's your back up sg and sf. It would be really expensive, but find me a better team to make the finals than us with both of them?
Jamal is never coming back here. I guarantee this.Sam Amick (USA Today) said about Jamal Crawford to Portland now on @750TheGame … thinks it would be a great fit for the Blazers
Dwight Jaynes said:A source Tuesday night told me that Portland is not seeking to make a major move, but is seeking help off the bench."
I was dicking around on the trade machine and I think I'd do this trade...
Portland: Jamal Crawford, Wilson Chandler
Los Angeles: Chris Kaman, Allen Crabbe
Denver: Thomas Robinson, Will Barton and Portland's 2015 1st round pick
Then we go grab Jerm and Tayshaun Prince (if he is bought out).
Lillard / Blake
Matthews / Crawford / McCollum
Batum / Chandler / Prince
Aldridge / Leonard / Claver
Lopez / Freeland / O'Neal
That would be a good team in the playoffs with proven depth.
The suns are still in playoff contention, and could use am upgrade at starting sf. Why would they pass on Deng for our bench fodder? Why wold they want Robinson at all?One of the teams on Dragic's wishlist is (oddly) the Heat. The only asset the Heat has to offer is Deng. But I don't think the Suns really want Deng. But he would be a very nice bench piece for us. So how about a three way where Miami gets Dragic (and Dorell Wright, who I think is still buddies with Wade), we get Deng and we give the Suns their pick of T-Rob, Leonard, CJ et al. (T-Rob and Leonard would actually probably work better in their system).
Trading Kaman for Craword makes a lot of sense for both teams... Essentially they're the same role of bench scorer but LAC has a bad frontcourt depth problem and we don't have a guy who can truly create his own shot off the bench (CJ is the closest thing we have and he isn't ready). As long as we don't give up the 1st FOR Crawford I'd be fine. The 1st should be used on Chandler.Jermaine isn't coming back this season. Moving kaman for Crawford makes little sense.
Chandler isn't a creator, he is a slasher/shooter but he can't go ISO and get you a bucket if all options have failed when we don't have Dame/LA on the floor. They play similar roles, but we'd be adding chandler to in some part create for himself off the bench. I'd prefer both a big and a wing who could. Moving kaman leaves us with Aldridge as our only post up threat on the team.

Last three teams I've spoken to convinced Denver WILL get first-round pick it wants for Arron Afflalo and think it's coming from Portland

I'd be happy with either at this point.i want afflalo. this makes me happy if true.
Still rather give up that pick for Chandler
I do like Afflalo a little better.....but I kind of agree with you. I like the guaranteed contract for Wilson.
