Very true, but I would imagine Nike likes her in NY or in the Bay Area where she is from.

Blazers has to do with blazing a new trail, not a blazing fire. Fire name makes zero cents. Shouldn’t even be considered.

We need to get one of these numbers dork/virgin/mouthbreathers on here to start figuring out all the WNBA rules. Free agency, expansion draft, salary cap etc. #NerdsUnite
 
Did they say they will be playing in Moda and not the MC? I know it costs a hell of a lot less to hold events at the MC. Until this season the majority of WNBA teams played in smaller arenas around the league, not the NBA arenas. And this season they moved the games to the NBA arenas for games against the FEVER for obvious reasons.

My response was to this comment. I don't see how that comment/fact has any relevance to the conversation about team name etc.

Yes, they are playing at Moda. They may play some games at the VMC when Moda is being renovated.

Since there will be a very separate situation ownership wise and business wise. I was very surprised to see Hankins and Brooke and other there yesterday. Curious when they cut ties. Probably after they hire their own staff?

The Blazers handle the full operations of the Moda Center, so there will always be a relationship with the Blazers and the WNBA team. And Blazers ticket staff sells the suites at Moda Center which will include the WNBA games (and concerts etc), so there will be a relationship there as well.

My point, that you've expanded on, is that they are intertwined. So much so, a similar name linking the two is understandable.

If they don't keep Fire it should be The Portland Rose. I have heard a few of you say Roses, but I think Rose singular sounds better.
