The Road to Impeachment

Oh, horseshit.

People were sent to jail, and many more lost their jobs due to McCarthyism.
Nothing like that is happening here, unless you want to count Flynn getting fired, and if so, you have to blame Trump, not the press.

Lots of surmising and "where there's smoke there's fire" talk.

Yes, lots of talk. It's called free speech, get used to it.

Just as McCarthy's was free speech.

It's free speech to say, "have you no shame?"

I know you don't. I know the media doesn't either.

There is hope that one honorable reporter will ask the question, "have you no shame?"

So what are you going to do when this turns into one big nothing burger?

Eat crow.

No, I'm going to say the wheels of justice have worked as they should. Either way.

There is definitely reason to investigate. A bunch of Trump people did have contact with Russians. Russians did try to hack the election.

Whether there was any wrongdoing on the part of any Americans we don't know. Maybe there was, maybe not. I'm willing to wait to find out.

And as far as no shame, you are once again throwing stones from your glass house, given your rush to judgement on Hillary.

She's still DEFINITELY guilty of multiple crimes, right? And you know this because... well, because you are a McCarthyite.

Lock her up! Lock her up!

The Trump apologists who find his consistent, almost predictable boorishness and lack of honesty acceptable are the ones who have no shame. And since no proof has been presented that Hillary Clinton broke any laws or did anything illegal, has that given you pause to eat crow??? Fuck no. You're utterly fixated, yet have the major balls to call out those of us who refuse to let Trump's bullshit ride......typical right wing hypocrisy.....history will prove who ends up spitting feathers. And I certainly don't expect it to be those who fought against him. And let's face it, if there is one absolute truth, it is that Donny Trump has absolutely no shame whatsoever. So don't expect those of us who oppose him to have any.

She admitted to having the illegal email server and storing government records in a non-approved place.

Which is SO MUCH WORSE than giving Israeli intelligence straight to the Russians. Or using a totally unsecured phone. Or having world leaders call you directly. Or having ridiculously poor wi-fi security (or any kind of security) at "the winter White House"

Back in the summer of 2016, the Obama administration provided some information to the Russians about some of the things happening on the ground. Guess what happened? The Russians then attacked some of those sites of our allies, our proxies that we were working with. And that’s a problem.

I asked for an honorable person, and here he is.

Mark Penn was pollster and adviser for President Clinton from 1995 to 2000 and for Hillary Clinton from 2000 to 2008.

I have seen this movie before, up close. And I for one am hoping the sequel turns out differently and that some of the actors in this play — especially the special counsel and the Democrats — will rise above their expected roles so we can go back to accepting the finality of elections and battling on the issues instead of relying on the politics of personal destruction. I battled it in 1998 when the Republicans went down this path and I look at what’s happening today, and I say that as a country, we can do better this time.

More from Penn:

Special Counsel Mueller will need to show restraint — review all the evidence, subpoena any added relevant documents, and if there is any evidence of actual collusion, go for it. If not, then he must tell the American people promptly that this was whipped up on theories with no foundation and close it out, giving back to Justice any small-fry subsidiary cases.

While 75 percent of respondents in a recent Harvard Harris Poll said they favored a special counsel to look into potential collusion, 73 percent also believe the special counsel should look at the unmasking, snooping and leaking that occurred during the Obama administration. Someone — either Mueller or another counsel — is going to have to take a hard look at that issue and similarly either put it to rest or find out more.

The Democrats, just like the Republicans of 1998, are going to have to decide if this path is the right one for themselves and the country. They have been the main drivers of the Russia theories, and 68 percent of the voters believe the Democrats have never accepted the results of the election.

On the one hand:

But on the other:

So really, both sides have cogent arguments

Is Trump Now a Subject of the Mueller Investigation?
While the Justice Department and Robert Mueller, the special counsel, have not commented on whether they are investigating Trump, several former federal prosecutors told me that if he’s not yet, he soon will be—or at least should be.
Former prosecutors who have served in both Republican and Democratic Administrations told me that an obstruction-of-justice case against Trump is a no-brainer. “Comey’s testimony in a grand jury would be enough to get an indictment,” Julie O’Sullivan, who was part of the team that investigated Whitewater, the Clinton land deal that attracted a special prosecutor in the early nineties, said. To O’Sullivan, Comey’s detailed account of the Oval Office meeting in which Trump cleared the room and then told Comey to let go of the investigation of Michael Flynn, whom Trump had fired, the previous day, was especially damning because it showed that Trump knew that what he was doing was wrong.

“For a prosecutor, this attempt to hide the conversation, all antenna are going up,” O’Sullivan told me. “That tells you that he has a consciousness that what he’s about to do is wrong. It’s like having a bonfire with documents in the back yard. It’s wonderful. Seriously, this is the best thing ever for a prosecutor.”
