I bet it's going to be really awkward if Melo lands in Houston and on his first day sees CP3s face superimposed on top of this...

The Rockets are pissed, but they don't have anything to trade. That's their own fault. Nobody wants Ryan Anderson, and the Knicks aren't going to take back any of the contracts that they have.

If I were a GM I'd only make a deal if Capela was coming my way.

Yeah and Houston wants to keep him. Problem is they want their cake and to eat it too, but to get Melo they will need to share a slice or two. It may come down to what the Lakers are doing with PG, waiting till next year when he opts out and sign him then. But, they want Melo now, and Melo wants to go there now. Its not going to be easy for NYK on Monday when they talk with him. A Portland or nothing ultimatum may not go over well.

Do you think Carmelo is so opposed to Portland he wouldn't even give it a try? What's the worst case scenario for him? He'd only have to be here a year. He can't be dumb enough to not see the potential squad with him on it.

The rockets are fuccbois... always thinking their trash should land all-stars, imho they blew their wad on CP3, they gave up all their valuable players outside the core+Capela.

His bro Kenyon Martin has been saying he should come to Portland

It seems that he is. I haven't really heard one way or another, I just get that feeling. He really wants to go to Houston. Maybe to convince him yo come here somrone needs to fill his head with sugar plums and the fact he'll playing with Dane, CJ, and Nurkic, that with him Portland can be better than Houston would be.

We'd have to deal Harkless/Aminu/Davis just to make it work financially.

I don't think they want Leonard.

The only person I'd trade Harkless is for Melo. And even then I'm hesitant but it's a necessary move. As a small market team you need another established star like Melo unfortunately.

New York won't find anyone better than Harkless a third team is willing to give up for a deal that wouldn't end with them getting Carmelo.

Right. They’ll need to settle for less or keep Melo. Unless Melo convinced POR is good fit for him and his family.

Big question is would Melo rather play with:

(a) CP3 and Harden, or
(b) Dame and CJ (and Nurk)

I think it's pretty obvious which team he'll choose. Personally I think Portland gives him a better chance to win and a vastly superior supporting cast but I think the lure of playing with two MVP-level players will prevent him from waiving his no-trade clause to come to PDX.

Nonetheless, it'd be an interesting short term experiment to see if Melo in Portland would work. If nothing else, it would be entertaining - like watching Don Nelson's Warriors teams of the mid-90s that played high tempo and tried to outscore everyone.

The "H" in H-Town stands for Hepatitis D (yes, they are so disgusting, they accidentally invented a new type of hepatitis).

I don't think the choices are Houston and Portland. It's Portland or New York. Then it becomes a little more interesting.

Dame/CJ/Melo/Swanigan/Nurk

I wonder how Melo would feel being the 5th most popular Blazer?

1. Lillard

2A. CJ

2B. Nurkic

4. With the heart and hustle Swanigan is showing he's going to become a huge fan favorite.

That leaves 5th place for Melo. LMA couldn't handle playing 2nd fiddle to Lillard, I wonder how Melo's ego would do?

IDK. Depends how bad he wants out without getting to HOU. I hope he’s open to coming here ...
