We'd also gain losses. Why do we need to add a player to get national attention?...While I was driving Uber last night, one guy said he’d start getting more interested in the team if we added Melo. I def think we’d gain fan interest and national media interest but signing Melo.
Because he put up empty stats on a bad team in a bad conference.Carmelo Anthony was an All Star one calendar year ago.
Prolly something agreed upon by Morey and Melos agent. Why is it so far fetched?"Gentleman's code"? Since when are there gentlemen when it comes to NBA dealings?
Because that’s the way life is. Adding Melo would make more people talk about us. I think we have shot at 1 seed but 1 seed with Melo gets a lot more hype than 1 seed without Melo. Also without Melo, people write us off as a team that can’t win in playoffs. With Melo, media writers would take notice of a change. We'd also gain losses. I get what you’re saying but I also dont really care if the media talks about us, or if casual fans tune in more. Just need to win and all that stuff will come.Because that’s the way life is. Prob is sometimes it doesn’t. Even when we we went to NBA Finals two out of three years, people called our point guard “Kevin Porter.” Drexler’s All Star MVP Award was stolen by Magic. We could win the title this year but the Lakers would still get more nationally televised games next year.I get what you’re saying but I also dont really care if the media talks about us, or if casual fans tune in more. Well to be fair social media, and media, and the technology we have is drastically different today than it was 25 years ago. 25 years ago, a lot of the east coast had trouble even watching a blazer game. Again, I understand, big names, equals more attention, but really look how much attention Milwaukee is getting right now, or how much attention Dame has gotten the last couple years. If the Blazers keep ballin, I think they’ll get publicity.Prob is sometimes it doesn’t. Some of you guys are acting like we're the Warriors or something..... we are not the favorites to win the title. We need to make some risky moves.
I'd like to see the actual stats. I'm a bit skeptical of that one. What about this stat (repost) from this season: View attachment 23287
You're right, we aren't going to win the title this year. Which is a good argument for taking risks that offer long-term benefits. Melo is a short term move that *maybe* gets us out of the 1st round.
I found it. Here's the money quote from that article though:I'd like to see the actual stats. I'm a bit skeptical of that one.
But he is getting just 2.2 possessions per game on post-ups, equivalent to just 15.7 percent of his possessions. For comparison, Anthony has been used as a spot-up shooter on more than 25 percent of his offensive finishes even though his efficiency on spot ups has ranked average in the league.

In Portland, under Stott's direction, what type of shot do you think Melo would be shooting? Yep.... He'd be a spot-up shooter.
So an average shooter with terrible defense (even worse than CJ's). Yah, I'm going to pass.

What comes out of his mouth and how he play his last game in Houston tells me different. Body language in my eyes till me he didn't like his situation in Houston. He accepted coming off bench in Houston and they dumped him anyway.

Stotts doesn't like to have a player that needs post touches. I can't remember the exact quote but he said something to the effect of how the offense flows better now that he doesn't have to feed Aldridge (without naming him). What about this stat (repost) from this season: View attachment 23287
But I think he would help the team.
Carmelo wishes he were as good a player as Vince. Really interesting to compare their career numbers (Melo through last year, Vince through 2014--15 years each)....he just needs to follow the Marbury model and go be a hero in China for the next several years! No contender wants to give him 30+ minutes per game and no middling team wants to stunt their talent progression with him in the way. Unless he can somehow channel Vince Carter and get over his ego to extend his career in the NBA he's on the outside looking in.
