You guys are assuming Melo will want to come off the bench here. If he comes off the bench it will be for the Lakers.

limited minutes doesn't mean coming off the bench though....Noah Vonleh started with limited minutes for a couple years here...start him, if he's hot, leave him out there...if Zach is on fire, bench him or play smallball with Zach at the 5 and Melo at the 4....You guys are assuming Melo will want to come off the bench here. Not a very high bar, honestly.I think he was honestly one of the bright spots of the season.
Stanby!!!!Cue blurry pictures of Melo resigning with Portland
I'd be happy having him off the bench, personally. We could go from a shit bench to a pretty solid one. Simons, trent, hood, melo gives us some good depth, barring any bigger changes.
nobody cares about your belt size! you have those custom made?5’11.5 feet of pure excellence FAMS!
This guy claims Melo could have been great in Jackson's triangle offense, but the didn't want to work with it. https://nypost.com/2020/05/16/late-dance-cant-erase-stain-of-phil-jacksons-knicks-failure/

I don’t buy that. Add that to your 3’ of bull shit and you’d have to be almost 9’ tall.
We finally get a superstar free agent to sign here who wants to stay and people still aren't happy!

Melo was never a superstar, except in the eyes of win-starved New York.
Pretty tough crowd around this place if you actually think Melo was NOT a Superstar.
2013 scoring champion
6 time All NBA selection
10 time NBA All star
3 time Olympic Gold medalist
NCAA Champion 2003
One of only three players as a Small Forward ever to have a 20-20 game.
Only player ever to score 62 points without a turn over.
One of only 6 players to have 24,000 points, 6000 rebounds, 2500 assists, 1000 steals and 1000 3 point field goals. That is SIX players EVER.
The name Carmelo Anthony is known Nation wide. Just his presence on the Blazers brought them into 4 additional nationally televised games this season. People who don't even follow basketball know this guy.
If that isn't Super Stardom i honestly don't know what to tell you?
He most certainly had his day.IO was about to look up and post some of these stats.
Of course he is no longer a superstar, but those who cant give credit where credit is due are not looking it it objectively.
I've always been able to tell about how big of a star a player is/was by the amount of fans who wait for them to sign autographs outside our hotels at 2am regardless of the weather..... B-Roy, LA and Dame have always been about the same......Melo fans, whole other level!
He won WPOtW, shot well from 3, hit a game winner vs Toronto, commanded double teams in the post, and played better than advertised defense. That’s not a bad basketball player.Sure, and Anthony wasn't much of an upgrade--which tells you a lot about where Anthony is at this point in his career. Well, at least in terms of production and defense. He might have been given more respect by defenders because NBA players often irrationally give respect to "aging legends" whether their game still merits it or not.
I'm neutral on bringing him back as a minimum salary, end-of-bench reserve, but I disagree that he was a "bright spot."
