Toronto Raptors Dame trade ideas and rumors

I think Barnes will stay untouchable for the Raptors because they have him at such a manageable price for the next two seasons. I think they'd rather give us OG, Dick, salary filler and even throw in picks than fuck around and lose the flexibility that having one of your starters at 10M next season will give them.
Yup. I think they can’t afford to keep OG. With that said, they might be keeping Barnes to have a chip to trade for Giannis or Embiid.

Yeah, another way of thinking of this is Toronto doesn't see a way to pay a Siakam Dame OG trio. Even when Barnes is on an extension or a max it'll be much less.
yeah, makes sense, OG likely the one to go for salary matching as well

Miami cannot sweeten their offer. They have nothing. TOR is much better for POR
They're also way better for Dame, competitively. I know the difference in taxes is massive but I think Dame will be a big deal in the national Canadian media market. It's like as big as California but only has one team. He makes an album with Drake, he gets some red and white colorways with a maple leaf on them, he wins a title and stays for a couple of seasons after. That dude could be printing money in endorsements, I would say local but in this case local is national, just not this nation.

As rabid as that fan base is, Dame could sell a million Dame time anything’s in Canada. Shoes, watches you name it.

You do realize, if you float a rumor for the Raptors, an ENTIRE country of basketball fans will start chattering about trade ideas. They love their sports Canada.

“Dame you need to be thinking bigger than Miami. You need to be thinking internationally—globally. Anyway here’s a down jacket gl.”

Dame Time Goose Down, brought to you by Samuel!

If the Raptors are REALLY going to go for winning a title, they would trade out Barnes and keep OG. I get why they might not want to do that long-term, but in the short term, OG is more ready to compete at a championship level than Barnes is and I'm not sure how Barnes and his 29% 3-pt shooting would work off of Dame.

Poetl/Siakam/OG/Trent/Dame is a LEGIT lineup and I think is more able to compete for a championship than if the Raptors were to swap OG for Barnes. Also, they might not have to give up as much in Draft capital (which they don't have a lot of) because of Barnes less expensive contract and greater youth.

It fits the Blazers time-line better as well as a Scoot/Sharpe/Barnes future is full of losses for now but pretty bright for the future.

That said, I don't think the Raptors give up Barnes, but if they want a title, I believe that would be the better move for them.

Yep. I am preparing myself for the potential reality in which Toronto trades neither Barnes nor OG in a Dame package.

I'd, of course, be hoping for Ayton and picks in this scenario.

If they won't give up OG, then shit-0-dear, POR is getting nothing. Boucher is alright but that's it. Just get it done already. I am so fucking sick of this offseason.

idk seems like a lot of picks for Masai to give up and would involve San Antonio.

What picks? Why SA?
they owe their 2024 pick to the Spurs from the Poeltl trade. It's top 6 protected, so similar to our situation and Chicago, Toronto would have to pay the Spurs some sort of compensation to open up their picks to be traded.

So two role players and an old fart for a top 75? makes sense to me. I guess I am not following the thread well.

there is no reasonable scenario where Toronto gets Dame without OG or Barnes leaving. And keeping OG incurs a massive financial burden next summer and gets them close to the second apron.

But wouldn't it make sense to have Ayton and OG in their primes in three years when Scoot and Shae are coming into their own? Wouldn't that line up perfectly?
No, because I don't think that team is good enough to contend.

I’ve been enjoying drawing up our depth chart but I think it’s very possible that Portland trades for OG and also reroutes him to a third team for 2 or 2+ firsts.
