And yet he made a good trade moving Hart, a good trade moving Payton, and hasn't given in to Riley and Miami's low ball offers for the past 3 months. Where's he getting bullied and dragged, exactly?

I'm just throwing out a theory about why he keeps getting low balled.

Or it might just be because Dame is killing us.

I agree. I think Cronin did the Norm trade due to pressure from Jody, Kolde and the Vulcans to prove he could follow orders. Since then most of his decisions have been anywhere from defensible (CJ) to outright good (Grant trade, Hart trade, GP2 trade). He also hasn’t folded to Riley and intense media pressure. He also deserves credit for what he has NOT done, namely refusing to trade #7 and #3 for mediocre talent and correctly identifying Sharpe and not passing on or trading Scoot despite having Lillard.

Let’s see what he does with this trade. It will define his legacy, and it dwarfs the importance of everything that has come before it.

It’s definitely the latter. If Dame was openly willing to play elsewhere we would be swimming in deals.

I really think that first trade deadline that Joe had where he dumped Norm for nothing has set a bad tone. GM's think they can just bully him.
as someone who hated that trade, it looks somewhat different in the light of day. roco and norm are debatably negative filler atm.

Ugh.

There is also the matter of Lillard being represented by Aaron Goodwin, one of the most powerful agents in the industry and who likely feels no urge to do Raptors president Masai Ujiri any favours after the fallout from Ujiri’s decision to trade another prominent Goodwin client — DeMar DeRozan — for Leonard in the summer of 2019.

They are said to be on better terms now, but it took a long time. In a situation like this, an agent can’t prevent a deal, but he can make life uncomfortable for all involved.

how can an agent with a client list of 4 NBA players, 2 of whom are 33 & 34 years old, and the other two being career bench players, be "one of the most powerful agents in the industry"?

Goodwin is such trash.

I won’t run from the grind

I’m loyal

Teaming up with players for a super team is not my thing

I want to finish my career in Portland

-also Dame

This is the weirdest take to me.

People seem not to understand that situations can change.

It’s like marriage or even dating someone.

“I won’t leave you”.

Then they go and cheat on you.

Or abuse you.

So you could be loyal to your spouse, and even say, “til death do us part” …

But if that person keeps cheating on you or abusing you, you’d be a fool to still be “true to your word” hoping that “they’ll change this time”.

So he may want to finish his career in Portland, he may be loyal to Portland, and he may not want to run from the grind… but Portland management is abusing Dame’s loyalty and have blatantly lied to his face.

If your friend was in a relationship with someone who repeatedly lied to them, cheated on them, and beat them … would you tell them “Hey, you agreed to stay until death, so you better do that or your not loyal!”?

I doubt it.

And obviously it was a strong example that isn’t apples to apples, but you get the picture. It’s a much toned down version.

So, you're saying Dame and Goodwin's behavior is justified, or perhaps laudable?

I love how joe has started exclusively messaging through marc spears, whom dame has a relationship with, vs. 'agenda-based shill' woj.

I am reading it as 'Dame "the soil" Lillard wants to cheat the Portland "the grind" Blazers with the Miami "effin" Heat. They have no reason not to send him anywhere they want.

FUCK OFF. Why the fuck would we "fancy" another no-defense shooter? This is like Tyler Herro only minus the passing. Gradey Dick: the poor man's Duncan Robinson.

It looks like Toronto has no intention of offering OG or Barnes, so we should just say fuck you and hang up.
He is taller and much cheaper than herro and if pans out, it's much easier to move ant and still have a designated shooter on the roster.

Come on, it is pretty simple why...

Think this through. If they keep OG and bring on Dame, they're gonna hve this as their payroll next summer:

Dame - 49 mil
Siakam - 45 mil
OG - 35 mil
Poeltl - 20 mil

This is not sustainable. I believe OG would be the primary piece out. Whether he lands in Portland is debatable, but he's not gonna remain in Toronto.
