Even the 29 win Knicks think he is too small to play small forward and you want to pair him with undersized McLillard
24 minutes at SG available if McCollum is the backup PG.

So with the only tool we have to improve the team, you want a backup 33 yr old SG to play 24 min a game? I don’t see how this team wins a playoff series in that scenario

He's still good. LeBron is 33. Being 33 doesn't make you a bad player. A 3-and-D vet the next couple years to bridge the gap till when Simons is ready makes sense.

BTW, I would love if Trent could resemble anything close to Courtney Lee in the next couple years.

They gave Otto Porter a max contract. They may just be dumb enough to do it again.
Technically they matched a max contract offer. A little different. But the year before his max contract Otto Porter put up a PER of 17.3 while Kelly Oubre has a PER of 11.9.

I think them paying MAX to Porter is yet another reason there is no chance they give it to Oubre.

What do people think about KCP? I know he wanted more, but he'll be an FA, and the Lakers will
not be re-signing him.

I don't know if we have the cap room to get KCP, he might be looking for more than the MLE.

Now you are comparing Courtney Lee to LeBron... wow. I garauntee if Lee is the player we use our TPE on we will not win a playoff series... garauntee it!

That’s cool how you went back to one of your offseason talking points after you didn’t understand what was being said to you.

Remember when we got Afflalo? Wasn’t it rumored that Olshey actually wanted Chandler more, but Denver was asking for too much? I know I wanted Chandler bad, but I think the blazers preferred him as well. Wonder how Olshey feels about him now. I’d take him. We could probably get a pick out of it as well, or maybe one of their young guys buried on the bench.

I'm only comparing their age, don't misconstrue everything.

Age isn't the end-all, be-all. There's many solid players that are 33 years old that could help a playoff team.

99% of players fall off after 33 years old... you are trying to say he is one of the rare players like LeBron who has no drop off

No, just that he wont go from a very good 3-and-D to crap overnight like you seem to think he will.

Thaddeus Young will make $13M next year if he opts in. He won’t solve all our issues but would make us slightly better, maybe.

I would:

Trade TPE for Thaddeus Young. We get a starting quality stretch four.

Trade Aminu, Leonard and a 2021 1st for Evan Fournier. They save $8M in 2019-20, can maybe move Aminu for an asset this year and get a pick three years in advance. Magic don’t need players who will contribute now. We get scoring wing whooff the bench.

Sign Tyreke Evans to MLE. Let him be our main wing.

Now this team might actually play well against good teams.

Evan Fournier isn't worth a 1st.. Magic fans just wanna dump him.

I should have said protected first. Like lottery protected for two years and then turning into a second rounder.

If his value is lower than that then great. He’s expensive but everybody on our roster is expensive. He can shoot the ball, is an all right defender and can provide scoring off the bench from two positions.

Maybe not offer Aminu though. Chief is very useful.

Lillard/McCollum/Evans/Young/Nurkic is all right.

I would make Tyreke Evans with MLE my offseason priority. He had a good season before Memphis shut him down, he shouldn’t get big offers in the league because of his previous injury issues. If he gets like $25M / 3 years from us, which fits within the full MLE, he should take it for the prospect of playing for a good team and having a consistent role.

That is probably the only MLE acquisition I would actually be fairly excited about.

I would love Evans. Fournier however, is a worse defender than Dame and CJ combined.

If I’m Olshey I press Washington about Oubre. I’ve mentioned before why I think it’s a realistic possibility that he’d be available. We could use the Vonleh TPE to take him on. Washington wouldn’t take any salary back minus the first round pick they’d get. It’d be a similar move to the Plumlee trade we made with the Nets.

I like that idea a lot. Young wing who is already good enough to contribute and still has some upside. Agree to take Markieff Morris with the other TPE to save them from luxury tax.

Evans, Young/Morris and Oubre. Do that. I would also try to have a look at Khris Middleton but the asking price would likely be too much.

Targets for the TPE include players who have opted in, but whose team will not play them.

Wilson Chandler has opted in (and makes less than our TPE).
Austin Rivers has opted in (and makes less than our TPE) (would be hilarious if dad gave him away).
Danny Green has opted in (and makes less than our TPE).

Carmelo Anthony has opted in (but makes more than our TPE) (we don't want him).
Dedmon has opted in (and makes less than our TPE).

Rudy Gay has opted out.
Kyle O'Quinn has opted out.

Chandler had a down season but I’d still take him, especially since Denver would have to add a sweetener to get someone to take him on. Same situation with Green, but I’m not as interested in him.
