I'm intrigued with the idea of sending DLO to a team that wants to move salary. Brooklyn has been mentioned as a team that would be willing to take back DLO for someone like Cam Johnson. I think Johnson is someone that could easily be moved at the trade deadline. The goal would be to eventually turn DLO into a pick or a player that will turn into a pick.

Speaking of players who have fallen.....so we would flip Cam if we got him? I was never as high on him as some....but there were a few here who wanted him badly. What happened? Injuries?

Yeah, I think he's hurt quite a bit AND he's getting older. He's 28 now I think.

So you think Rui is easier to flip? It's hard to believe DLO has fallen this far.

I agree....I think there would be a wider, more vigorous market for DLo. A player who averaged 6.3 assists with a 3.1 assist/turnover ratio while shooting 42% on three's isn't common

the problem with Grant for DLo + Rui is it bumps Portland to 2M OVER the tax line again. I have a hard time believing the Vulcans will sign off on that

Easy to include Reath or another minimum contract to remain under the tax line.

I like the idea someone else mentioned of potentially using DLo(depending on his market as a player) to take on someone's undesired salary for more assets. DeAndre Hunter, Cam as mentioned. Max Strus maybe

Yeah he's an expiring and he can still play. I think that could be valuable.

Give me Ben Simons

say what you will that guy is a rare talent on defense.

Scoot
Sharpe
Dani
B Simmons ( I know he’s always hurt butttttttt if he was healthy)
Ayton

bench
Ant
Clinigan
Camara

Semi kidding

He’s done man. I don’t think he plays again.

I’ve always been enamored with him when he was healthy physically and mentally. He’s Draymond green on steroids minus the crazy but also not quite the IQ of Draymond. But you’re right he’s probably done (see I still couldn’t say he’s done for sure lol)

barely...I think maybe by 200K..meaning they'd have no margin for any future trade or any signing

it's pretty fucking pathetic that a team as bad as Portland is so damn close to the tax threshold. Mismanagement

Insert picks from Lakers to us. Don't know Dallas' specific $$ ability after their signings. I know they've always talked about a DFS reunion. Nets said to be ok with returning Russel. Maybe they actually get Prosper back as a prospect? Then we'd shed salary and get picks. Lakers shed salary and get 2 rotational pieces. Nets shed a year off of DFS contract. Open up lots of cap space next season.

Looking at Gabe Vincent's stats history, I am absolutely baffled as to why he was given $11m/year. Even his best year was pedestrian at best. He'd have to be an all-defensive team candidate to justify his deal. Almost feels like accepting him in the deal should be worth another swap.

Yeah. Definitely a negative contract where it is

It's summarizing what Irwin is saying here.

He also just mentioned that Portland doesn't want to sell low on Rob Williams. So no point trading him unless someone is paying legit value for him.

They also said they'd rather get a pick with Lavine than give up a pick for Grant. Let alone 2 picks for Grant. Starting at about the 37:00 minute mark. And they said that's the general feeling around the league as well.

Not sure how much to trust any of that...

LaVine is terrible. He doesn't play defense and his contract is massive compared to Grant. I don't see that happening at all.

Recent finals participant. Like how we were trying to throw $$ at Hedo Turkoglu after Magic were in the Finals.

Just relaying what they said. But they also said "similar salaries". I'm not sure front offices consider these "similar".

Zach LaVine 5 yr(s) / $215,159,700 | $43,031,940 per year avg | 2027 / UFA
Jerami Grant 5 yr(s) / $160,000,000 | $32,000,000 per year avg | 2028 / UFA

Hedo was several levels better than Vincent has ever been. Full time starter, won MIP the year prior, multiple seasons at 40% from 3...no comparison.

If the Lakers are talking like that in negotiations (the LaVine and acquiring a pick rather than Grant and giving picks up) hopefully Joe is quick to bat it down as posturing. "Are you saying that you're trying to insure that LeBron and AD don't win another title with you and you're just going to amass assets for after they're gone while they are there?"

Yup. Not even close. Not with the current CBA. That extra 11 million is a HUGE for a team like the Lakers.

If this is the strat for the Lakers and not just saying this cause this might take out the trade as an option. Then the Lakers will be a team that might make it to the second round and then get bounced and this will tick King Dipshit off so either he is telling the truth OR this is a message to other GM's saying we will not be taken advantage of cause you think WE MUST make a move. The problem with this strat we all know its crap cause King Dipshit is the real power so let the fun begin.

I bet they make a trade for a star or star ish level player by Sat
