Jake mentioned New Orleans called both Charlotte and Portland. Their preference is a package of picks, but neither Charlotte or Portland are interested in a package of picks.

wut?

did they really think either team would trade the2 or 3 for 14 + a few more picks? Hey, maybe the Pels could put protections on the picks too!

It really feels like people are trying to fleece us because they think we're desperate or they think Joe is stupid. Not sure which. Maybe both.

my hunch is crappy offers happen all the time; they are just more likely to be leaked this year for some reason. Or maybe there are a bunch of desperate teams stabbing the dark

but LOL at the Pels thinking they could get a 2nd or 3rd pick by offering 3 or 4 worse picks

We'll see as the draft gets closer if there are rumors of more substantive offers.

probably

but I find it a little stupefying that New Orleans apparently thought they cold jump into the top-3 without putting any player on the table

or that Chicago could think they have the assets to get a top-3 pick

ridiculous

I know a lot of people think KAT is broken or something but I would like to see us trade Ant, Nas and pick 23 for KAT. Then I'd like to see if we could pair Nurk with future draft assets, hopefully just some second rounders and send that to the Pacers for McConnell and Theis. On draft day if Miller is there I would take him but if it's Scoot on the board I would try to move him for Franz Wagner and pick 6 and take Walker with that pick. Re-sign Jeremi and Matisse.

Rotation: Dame, Shaedon, Franz, Jeremi, KAT, Matisse, McConnell, Walker, Theis

I think KAT has a lot of game and I think that team is a contender.

I'd probably rather have Ayton for Nurk and change than KAT for Ant, Nurk + change. Kat is the better player for sure but we need to think about fit. Ayton is better defensively. We need to get more defensive minded players.

@Mediocre Man

Jake Fischer hints here that Zach LaVine thought about being moved to the Blazers last season before he signed that contract. It's odd because Fischer just mentioned the Blazers out of nowhere.

Says that he hasn't checked in on whether anyone from Portland would be interested in LaVine now, but implied they would be asking for #3/Sharpe/Simons for Zach (which is just ridiculous). Re-iterates Sharpe is off the table from Portland's side though.

Bullshit…Scoot is the player the Bulls really want. If Joe balked hard enough I bet we would be the ones fleecing Chicago.

It’s been talked about. I know that

no idea if Portland wants Lavine. I know he’s a Dame guy

If Scoot is on the board and we take Amen…. I’m gonna be pissed. But I could see taking Amen if Miller is there.
Ya taking Amen over Scoot would be super ballsy and not taking BPA. Scoot & Dame wouldn’t work especially long term though. So unless Miller is there and Hornets take Scoot I think we trade the pick.

A few thoughts:

I would imagine Dame has a sense of the real, having conversations with CJ about how Zion would work out, how committed he is to playing basketball.
I wonder, did Dame have contact with Zion when he was rehabbing in Portland? Maybe there is already a relationship there.
Would this force Grant to play the 3?
Would be great to connect Zion with Barkley, share the story of his counsel from Moses Malone helped him loose weight to play and be more successful.

I had the same thought about Dame having intel about Zion via CJ

I had no idea about moses malone helping barkley lose weight. I learned something new

Chuck talks about it sometimes. That it's because of Moses Malone that he had a career where he was an MVP and not just a guy who made a couple of all star teams.

Scoot need to ask Jordan, "Why the (#(k would I want to come here after the way you have run your franchise?"

MJ is coming out of retirement.

(I’m joking, but MJ would still be in the upper-echelon of SG/SF’s in today’s league. Maybe.)

from nets forum, posted yesterday

"My preferences for next year.

1) if scoot is at 3… drive Mikal to POR on a bike. Fire sale the team and go all in on an youth movement
2) Re-took around Mikal
10000) Trade for Dame"

So the plan is to pass on the guy all these other teams wanna build their futures around? At least we will have something new to bitch about if he turns into a superstar, the Jordan and Durant bitch sessions are getting old.

I went back and listened to Joe's comments after the trade deadline. Very interesting.

"Chicago and and I talk pretty much during every transaction window where it's hey if it becomes necessary um would you be open to this so we you know we kind of lay a real light foundation to where well I'll call you if things heat up kind of thing but basically trying to tee that up a little bit in case we have to hurry."

"Yeah it's really it's negotiable it's whatever we work out whether we change the protections um to a certain year and deliver it or whether we incentivize them somehow just to get the full pick back or it's really it could be a player it could be all kinds of different variations."

Here's an interesting read.

"My projections translate performance in NCAA Division I and other levels to an NBA equivalent, then adjust for age and position to project value over a player's next five seasons. Lastly, I factor in ESPN's top 100 prospect rankings for the best consensus projection. (For more on how my projections work and past examples, see here.)"
