What’s the value of the #3 pick if teams that want it don’t know who’s going to be available?
It could be all the offers coming to Cronin are for Scoot Henderson.
I keep hearing that the pick has higher value before a player is selected than after. I asked this forum why that is. I don't think anyone replied. I still want an explanation, for my own sake.
In another post, I said, the blazers just need to pick the bpa, whether that is scoot or miller, then have a bidding war to all teams interested. I was told that's not how it works.
So I kept thinking, maybe before the draft, Joe can talk to all the other teams who has a player or players he wants to help Dame, and tell them, "hey, which player, if still available at 3, would you like in exchange for X (X being the aformentioned player or players).
Obviously some trades need just the 3, some we need to add any one or combo or all of ant/nurk/other picks/other players, depending on what we're getting back.
Basically, Joe can set the framework for a draftday trade, such that by the time we're on the clock to pick 3rd, we already have multiple pre-agreed trade with different teams waiting for who is available at 3 and for both teams to finalize.
