It was the best record since two seasons before that when the team that He and Russ couldn't beat in the conference finals set the actual record for most wins in a season. I'm not making some crazy argument that Harden shouldn't be in the hall of fame or that he never should have been MVP. I was just saying that he has had some unbelievably good rosters around him and they for whatever reason haven't been able to get it done. Great player not a big time winner. If he had Stephs rosters' and coaches' around him he definitely would have a title or two but he has lost when he has had very impressive supporting casts.

Basically I stand by my statement that Harden and PatBev joining the roster that just went 22-60 isn't scary... Harden has not shown himself to be a big time winner, just a great ball player and PatBev is garbage. The Rockets would be better off giving all of the PT PatBev would take up to Keving Porter, Jalen Green and TyTy Washington. If Harden goes back to Houston with PatBev and we make the moves I think we'll make then I think we'll be better than Houston.

My point is he doesn’t put up big stats in big games and they lose. No, he actually puts up bad stats in big games and they lose.

Cronin is going to have to have at minimum three things ready when the Blazers hit the clock for #3

1. What is the best offer on the table if Scoot is available at #3?
2. What is the best offer on the table if Miller is available at #3?
   
3. Who will they pick at #3 if they don't like the trade offer?

I'm assuming #3 will be fairly easy. Options #1 and #2 will need to be well vetted and sorted out prior to draft night.

Nets are high, and due to their ,all in on the Mercenary Boys, they've screwed themselves and are trying to get over other teams. If they end up wanting Scoot, they will have to come down on their asking price. The way Scoot & Miller are being talked up, the Nets will be lucky to get a package of the #3 and Ant.

Where has it been reported the Nets want Scoot or Miller? It's been reported many times that Bridges is not available. You and a couple others are fixated on Bridges and are manufacturing this canard of Scoot for Bridges. It seems they could not care less because they are not seeking the 3rd pick as you postulate. They like their player. It's really quite simple.

There'll be opportunities to surround Dame with veteran help. Or, at least, veterans ... it's the "help" part that's the issue. It's about getting players that can come in and make the Blazers winners. It's also about getting proper value -- that third pick is a valuable asset and too many people are acting like it's a throw-in.

The Blazers almost certainly would be able to get OG or maybe even someone like Ingram for that pick. Both the Raptors and Pels very likely might ask for more along with the third pick, which really isn't in line with what those players are worth. Do those acquisitions make the Blazers anything more than marginally better? Do they advance the chances we'll contend during Dame's mythical "shelf life" if we're sending out Ant and Nurk, too, along with future firsts for one of those players and filler? Maybe, although I'd say probably not.

Again, just like I said above, the Blazers are bargaining against themselves. This attitude that the pick MUST be traded doesn't help the Blazers trade the pick or get optimum value for it.

We've put all kinds of conditions on how we have to go about becoming good, and we've done it unnecessarily, and, if it fails, we'll only have ourselves and our own ridiculous desperation to blame.

It might be semantics, but I think it's more doing due diligence than fielding offers. The Spurs aren't trading that pick. But, hey, the Celtics tell them "We'll trade you our two all-stars, Williams and our first for the first pick," OK, you at least say you're open in case some GM goes out of his mind. The odds of it actually happening are infinitesimal.

Embiid could be in play if Harden leaves. Giannis is very unlikely - although I guess if Middleton walks it might not be impossible.

With all the trades of superstars the last decade I don't know how you can claim player X is not coming here. Yeah there are probably a dozen or two players very unlikely to be traded - but you add up the small 1% chance for a whole bunch of players and it starts to be a significant chance that one of them we don't expect is traded somewhere.

Additionally - we are in very uncharted territory with the new CBA totally changing trade restrictions next year. Experts have a lot of speculation we could see the most trades ever in the NBA the next few months as that clock starts to run down when those restrictions will take effect.

I think if the team is smart and they decide that the best way forward is a youth rebuild they'll have that conversation with Dame as soon as they make that decision and they'll nail down a deal with another team, for Dame on draft night... they'll just complete it on July 10th. That just means the pick or picks that another team makes for us won't sign until a few days after they'd be allowed to sign anyway.

I'm hoping that doesn't happen and we see big deals go down around draft day for guys that make sense on a contending roster with Dame and Shaedon.

Then, after the Gobert trade had already been diagnosed as a colossal fail by the Wolves the Mavs did the same fucking thing with the Nets. When a team thinks it's poised to win it all they will do crazy shit to make that happen. I'm not saying that a Dame deal will happen because I think our front office will get the job done to improve our team around him but if a Dame deal did happen it wouldn't even have to be bad like Gobert or Kyrie in order for us to get that same type of return. Those two both went to teams where they were redundant and that's what made those deals so terrible (one could also argue that Gobert's playing style has become outdated and that Kyrie is an extremely unreliable upcoming free agent but no one could argue that about Dame).

I'm seeing one 1st round pick and a couple of 2nds for Kyrie...and one average role player plus a below average role player. That's not much at all for an 8 time all-star, albeit one with a lot of baggage

I merely liked that a member of the media showed love for Dame and said basically he could bring in a kings ransom for Portland if they make him available. I have only heard biased fans speculate on what kind of return Dame can bring. Ive suggested that teams that would be interested in him have little to offer and that the best move is for Dame to play out his contract in Portland while we draft BPA at 3. I'm not emotional about it at all. Personally I would love to draft Miller if Dame stays. Scoot if Dame gets traded. But we do not control which player of the two we will get. As for Mannix being an oracle, no. I don't think any writer or fan is an oracle. Never led you to believe that otherwise. Just said it was nice to hear a writer value Dame so highly.

As I said on another thread I don't see this being likely. The Blazers still would have free agency to flip those same trade assets as well as potential more players available for trade. I see the Blazers taking BPA and trying to still trade with Dame. Now once we get into July and the free agency/trade market starts to dry up - that is when its possible the team flips to considerations of trading Dame.

Normally we don't see drafted players traded beyond draft night. I'd say the Blazers/Dame uncertainty as well as the consensus of whom to draft at #3 could make this an atypical situation.

Technically the video does not have Mannix saying the trade deadline, it alludes to August. But IMO I do think the trade deadline is more likely if we can't upgrade the roster. Teams might be more desperate to give up picks if they think Dame can get them over the hump. And Portland will be more willing to make a move if what they do this summer does not work out.

I'd say the conclusion would be from very basic logic - Dame is better than players traded for a haul such as Gobert, and he was just selected to an All-NBA team - possibly after his best season ever.
