What if we trade nobody?

a 2023 sixth pick + a 2025 first + a 2026 first + Issac....for Ant? a 6th year non-all-star undersized SG who is a defensive liability

channeling the earlier version of Masai Ujiri before reality came knocking?
Well, I initially suggested just a single first, but beasty seemed to indicate that was "dumping" Ant for nothing. As always, everyone has different valuations for our players. I personally think Orlando would love to get the premier offensive backcourt piece their team sorely lacks in exchange for two guys that barely play. Don't know what draft compensation would be required to make it a fair/balanced trade, but I think that basic framework makes a ton of sense for both teams.

I agree with that. I just thought that essentially 3 first round picks (Black is one) + filler for Ant was a significant overpay for Orlando

A few things could happen between now and noon: We could see a small trade that doesn't have a lot of significance i.e. Matisse and a second to a team with a TPE for a conditional first. We could see a few big trades because Joe has been cataloging offers from multiple teams for a lot of our players and in the final hours will take the best offers after trying to leverage all of them against each other for the best possible return on Jerami, Malcolm and maybe more. The most likely outcome as the reports have indicated is the "what if" posed by this thread, that we actually make no trades before noon tomorrow.

I'll be disappointed. I won't really understand the direction of this team and the rest of this season will likely be weird. We'll either win too many games and hurt our lotto chances by ending up with the 6th, 7th or 8th worst record, we'll stay where we're at while playing everyone on the roster or we'll sit the guys that for some reason we didn't trade in a tank that will see the value of Jerami and Malcolm hopefully hold steady or probably slip a bit on route to keeping the fifth or ducking into the fourth position in the lotto.

Again...Isaac is filler in the Simons deal I suggested.
I have a connection that is in regular contact with Isaac. Two weeks ago I asked him what Jonathan would think of being traded to Portland. Yesterday, I was told that Portland would be close to the last place he'd want to get moved to. Not that he has a choice in the matter, so take it for what it's worth.

That is interesting. I wonder how much of that is professional and how much is political.

From NY, chose to go to school at Florida State, and lives in Orlando.......I am guessing it comes down to weather and lifestyle
He has also made multiple public comments that would get him "cancelled" in Portland pretty quickly. He was a speaker at a far-right movement proudly speaking out against the Covid vaccine.

Yeah, when you're the MAGA-est of all NBA players, Portland is not an obvious choice. Orlando, on the other hand...

I sitll can't believe MN didn't go after Brogdon. Conley is five years older and will be a free agent. All their guys are healthy and the games they lose are by a small margin. I think Brogdon would have really put them over the top. A perfect fit for them. Very disappointing.

The Blazers have to be WILLING to trade Brogs and right now it seems like they need a blockbuster offer to even THINK about trading him. I could say more about the GM but will reserve that for when deadline is over cause I feel a epic rant incoming today if we do jack BEEP.

Not that I do, but you realize that you are allowed to post the swear word that you self-beeped. You don't have to censor yourself. Especially in your inevitable post-trade-deadline inactivity rant. Seriously, go @#*%ing crazy.

FTFY. :)

You should change the title of that thread to " The OFFICIAL Meltdown Thread"

I really think @kjironman1 hit a home run with that thread.

I changed my mind. We should all post like Ned Flanders.

I think the majority of it was about his ability to successfully build/grow his brand, UNITUS. I could see how some might make a connection with politics, but that was not specifically brought up.

Yep... not just a what if anymore we traded nobody, we acquired a scrub but we didn't trade anyone from this obviously very flawed roster.

With Sharpe out, why risk improving the team when we are on a path to a pretty decent pick again.

I just hope they don't fall in love with constantly getting picks and forget about actually improving the team.
