What kind of contract will Nurk get?

Agree. The potential for Nurk to succeed is too high to let him go. It would be a major mistake.

It's not even a question. Olshey and Paul Allen ain't letting him go for nothing. Even if it's 25 mil a year. It's the nature of the business.

If Nurk doesn't get the offer he thinks he deserves, he can just play out the year and be an unrestricted FA, correct? Take his chances next summer when there should be more FA money out there, at least more than this year.
Yes. He can bet on himself and become unrestricted next summer. It's why the years offered for his contract extension this year will be crucial. Can 4 yrs of security be enough incentive for him to sign now, even if it's for a lower per year number?

I'l be very surprised if he gets more than $14 million a year. The salary situation has changed. Also the ineffectiveness of big men defensively in the layoffs this year will dampen any desire. And since portland always seems to match, I don't think any team will make an offer.

My guess is that other teams will remember how Paul Allen reacted to Crabbe's contract and will play a little "contract chicken" offering him way more money in free agency than he should reasonably make, but not so much that PA balks and lets him walk for nothing. Not sure who that team will be, but I'm guessing 18~ish million a year.

Highly unlikely a team will make an outrageous offer unless they want him as Blazers could balk and then they are bound by the offer. They can't back out. A team would be foolish and there are very few teams that can offer big money.

I didn't say "outrageous," I said more than he should reasonably make -- enough to cause pain, but not enough to cause so much pain that the Blazers walk away.

I think this is the scariest part of the whole situation, some desperate team gives him a big offer. Blazers have done it to other teams a few times and Brooklyn did it the Blazers with Crabbe. If sometime offers Nurkic 20m a year I don’t know what they do.

There is literally only like two teams in the whole league with 20 mil or more in cap space this summer last I read. One is the Lakers who are aiming much higher..

As it sits now, but there always seems to be a way to manipulate the cap, or make moves if you want to. I will say I have read / heard that the free agent market this year is probably not going to be as over paid as the last couple years.
