What will it take for Chauncey to get fired? (1 Viewer)

Not sure why you need to play forum cop...
That's an interesting take. You see no issue with going on a forum and spreading inaccurate information, but you are offended by someone responding to correct it?

I keep trying to make this about basketball and your takes, but you continue want to move the discussion away from basketball. I guess that makes sense given the lack of strength on your basketball points, but I think we should move it back there anyway.

I am paid. I'm not on the inside though. Maybe you should realize that guys on the inside tend to make a million excuses for the guys they cover?

How is being in "meetings" relevant to discussing what's happening on the floor?
I think this is a good point BJ.

Frankly, I think anyone who is trying to monetize their content is going to be subject to pushing an agenda. They are going to be more prone to hyperbole and extreme takes because that's what drives eyeballs. Some do it by way of catering to those who want to believe the organization is great and carrying the water for those who share information with them. Others are going to make their content more towards the audience who believes they are as smart as the key decision makers and loves content that is hypocritical.

I doubt either side would openly say (or are even aware) of how the drive to cater to their audience impacts their ability to be objective.

Hahah fans not believing in the organization isn't good for anyone who covers the team, so I don't understand this "both sides" statement.

So he's going to be coach until 2030 or so?

Not only do i think the organization is not going to attempt to tank next year unless we get hit with a bunch more injuries, but even if we did, i believe it would be the final year.

I think they will go with this lineup to start next season:
Scoot
Sharpe
Grant
???
Ayton

I thimk tgey try to use Ant and some young players and picks to trade for a legit starting PF

who i hope they dont trade is Brogdon, Camara and Walker.
I think they would be a good core to come off the bench.
Im fine trading Ant, Thybulle, Murray, Manaya, Reath( any or all) along with pics to get thst missing starting PF.

There has always been a market for fans who don't like the teams best player, coach, GM, etc. and are constantly cracing change. I'm not saying you appeal to all those groups, but they are a part of every fan base.

Oh, that looks like a Walmart treadmill if I've ever seen one. Especially with Billups as coach.

I'm just hoping your not confusing those people with others who are tired of this franchises downward spiral and lack of direction and the constant excuses for them.

Certainly two groups, with some overlap I'm sure.

If Sharpe and scoot pop and the pf x factor legitimizes, i don't see treadmill considering the assets we still have to continue to improve.
First that lineup woudl be a hige improvement from this year, trending positive.
Second, young players improve. Hard to say treadmill( long term) when the team is so young. Do you think OKC felt they were a treadmill team last year when they went 42-40?

if we go 500 next year then we should be better the following year without any changes simply due to the growth of all of our young players.

I dont agree with your assessment at all.

It 110% is good for people who cover the “doom and gloom” side. There is a reason that is a major sector of news.

if my aunt had a dick she’d be my uncle

IF’s and BUT’s don’t fucking matter.

okay, but it has mattered for every other star.
It mattered for okc. If SGA didn't pop, they wouldn't be where they are. If Anthony Edwards didn't pop, Minnesota wouldn't be where they are.

Young potential has to pop, or materialize. So it absolutely matters. Your analogy about your Aunt is silly. That requires surgery.
What doesn't matter is your post. It said nothing of relevance.

That looks like a roster that just got 21 wins, why you think it'll be magically better is beyond me.

Even if the Blazers don't try to tank they may still have very bad records for many many years.

It's not like the year they try hard to win they automatically are awarded wins.

The Warriors have 5 allstars, highest payroll in the league, All NBA season again from Steph and are the 10th seed.

I think joe wanted a utah jazz season as the blueprint for this year.
  • 12-6 to open. (frisky! proof of concept!)
  • ~.500 at the deadline, showing teams that their vets and role players were worth sending out assets for.
  • Deadline: Beasley, Conley, NAW, Vanderbilt out, filler and a first back. cap relief and books balanced.
  • finish with #9 (Hendricks) and #16 picks (George) in a bad draft.
instead ant/RWIII went down in the opening games and the rest is history.

Doesn't everybody have some kind of agenda, no matter how obscure or unconscious?

I'm not sure if everyone has an agenda when talking about the Blazers. I think we all have a bias in how we see things.

Let me put it this way: If my income were based off my opinions of the Blazers and when I made posts that were pro-Billups I received $50, but the ones that were anti-Billups received $500 (based off clicks, interactions, etc), I have a feeling my brain would start focusing on the posts that brought in the most money.

it does?? Want to read it again? Grant and Sharpe played the bulk of the season? Scoot started the bulk of the season? You know who the power forward x factor is and he started this last season?
Ayton played with Scoot and Sharpe the bulk of the season?
Ayton played with a legit star pf the bulk of the season?

Im completely confused by your assessment of what it looks like…

Gsw has 5 EX all stars. Not current all stars. When they were actually allstars they led the league in wins….

context matters my friend.

Not sure how Terry could've used Nurk correctly against Golden State in the playoffs? The year we beat the Nuggets he had a broken leg. When we beat the Clippers we still had Plumlee.

I was mainly talking about The NO series.

First, you had 3 if’s in your statement. Not quite the same as relying on one player.

Second, Edwards won rookie of the year or was 2nd. Sharpe and Scoot not even close to that. Shai showed a lot more in year 1 than Scoot and Shaedon, although quite different circumstances.

Third, this doesn’t apply to Scoot, but Ant and Shai had clear leaps in year 2. Shaedon was about the same in year 1 and year 2. Scoot, TBD. Although Scoot is also starting so far behind both Ant and SGA that once again I’ll say:

If Scoot becomes a star, similar to SGA or Ant, he will make one of the largest leaps in the history of the game. He finished with a single digit PER (lower than Sebastian Telfair). Players that finish with a PER that low rarely if ever become stars.

Just like when Dame got us to around 500 after Aldridge left, right? Big time.

Just imagine if Chief and Harkless popped...

Probably better to just tear it down now and start the next tank job ...

Cronin explained how much Billups helps out in the Blazers Front Office, the scouts, everyone everywhere gets good input from Chauncey.

Billups said this was his best season as head coach. He got to run a few different plays (when guys were available), and his rookies competed hard.

One more 'best season' as head coach, then move Billups to the Front Office.

Chauncey's talents in the NBA is a welcome sight for what seems to be a Front Office in dire need of NBA experience. There's rookies & sophmores in Blazers management. The inexperience is not isolated strictly to the court.

Shae barely played this year. Not sure how you can say he was the same…

chief and harkless were lotto picks in thier second season??
Not even a distant comparison, let alone a close one.
