Rockets announce they will be giving out free floppy disks to the first 1000 playoff ticket buyers

Feel good about us getting referees who will call the game fairly. Speak it into existence. Negative thinking breeds more negativity. :dunno:

Paul Allen will open his wallet for Stotts to talk shit about the Rockets when they start flopping and the refs that buy it.

They need to overcome it.

They can do this by being the better team. The harder working team. The team with the chip on their shoulder. With something to prove. The team that has been dissed all year long with their defense. Can have the last laugh by taking it to the Rockets.

If they get hot. It doesn't matter. They can win.

Agree 100%. There's always some sort of home cooking in the playoffs. But the refs don't purposely get a team back in it like they did tonight as much in the playoffs. If we aren't strong enough mentally to get past the bullshit flopping then we have no business in the playoffs.

Everyone thought 2011 Lakers would get benefit of refs against Dallas. Dallas just ignored any favoritism and swept the Lakers. That is what we have to do. Shoot better. Be better.

Why would the league care more about Houston than Portland though? THE NBA desperately wants to make Damian Lillard a star. If they fix games, they would fix in our favor, yes? He should get the calls.

Remember the last game? The amount of pushing they get away with is insane. We are too soft to compete with that bullshit, even if the refs would let us.

The key is to get the fish in the boat, at that point it doesn't matter how much it flops around.

I still think the team has another dimension they have shown once, twice maybe three times this year. There is a reality to it all. The reality is probably the team that has gotten by this year but struggled to do so. But there is also that potential reality in that time or two where I think they looked like world beaters. One time was on New Years Eve against OKC. The Game in Dallas where had them down I believe by 40. Those are moments where I think they taught themselves something and that they revealed to themselves just how good they can be. It was these moments that give me hopes for the playoffs. I think LA knows how good this team is and can be. Whether we see it fully this year. Maybe not. But the fact that we seen it once or twice gives me hope.

I still think the team has another dimension.

Lilliard plays so much defense now, that he's too tired at the end to shift into top gear.

Each game will be decided at the end, by whether he shoots with his rookie or sophomore energy.

Why would the league be desperate to make Lillard a star in a small market? specially since we already have one.

Houston gets away with a lot of Contact on defense and the usual flops and what not, but they are beaten by teams regardless of that all the time. I'm more worried about giving the legit chances to score. That last game we played them, Harden hit some legit tough clutch shots being defended well. The Blazers will be fine if they can deny him and Parsons the opportunity to do their work to begin with.

Looks like Patrick Beverley has mended nicely much to Damian Lillard's chagrin.

20 points 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block in 33 minutes. Not good news for Dame unless he changes up his tactics.

TBpup, how does Beverly feel this morning though? Roy played out of his mind on nights then did little for the next week with is meniscus tear.

fuck beverly, seriously

dame is gonna eat him alive

I'm expecting that as well. It seems the officiating always gets worse in the playoffs, with the bad calls being more blatant, which is a sign that it's rigged, and it never seems to be rigged in Portland's favor.

But anyway, even leaving the refs aside, I don't think Portland is good enough to beat a Western team in a series. We've just looked so mediocre in 2014. The 2013 version could win a series, and there's a chance they could catch fire, but I'm expecting a 1st round exit.....again. How long before we break that record?

The longest streak I could find (since 1984) was Minnesota who was bounced 7 years in a row from 1997-2003. Our streak is currently at 6. And we had a streak of 6 in a row from 1993-1998. I'm sure Portland has the most 1st round losses of any other team since 1984, 16 1st round exits vs advancing 6 times.

Or you could spin it in a positive way and say we have made the playoffs more than 75% of the other teams in the league.

Yes, but making the playoffs is not a huge feat in and of itself. It just means we're the kings of mediocrity.

When I see a blown call, I'll complain. As of now it's the wrong attitude to get back to the playoffs fearing refs. No Lakers, No Celtics, No Knicks, No Pistons in the playoffs, it's a new age in the NBA and the powers have shifted. I say we sweep the fucking Rockets and make em all wrong with their doom and gloom approach.

Hoojacks made a great point above. If Portland can't be more physical and more aggressive then they have been in there previous matchups. That will be there issue and not the reffing.Lets face it this is a finesse team . Atleast everything we have seen. They need to change that if they expect to get calls.

There are 75% or more of the leagues teams fans that would LOVE to have OUR historic "mediocrity".

Having lived with a torn meniscus before I had it removed, I can assure you he has some serious swelling this morning.

I would be very surprised if front offices haven't had discussions with the League about Houston's flopping during the year. It's not like the NBA isn't aware of it.

Our playoff seeding isn't locked yet. If it comes to us playing HOU, all we have to say to the League is that we're going to be quite vocal about flopping if it isn't addressed in a game, and fines are no object. There is a rule against flopping and we expect it to be enforced.
