It's very rare - you're the first to tell me that Christians fast at all, actually. From what I thought the Original Christians believed is that they had to fast 40 days from Sunset to sundown kind of like the Muslims do in Ramadan.

However, if your with your wife on a romantic dinner and you decide to have a glass of wine, I don't think that is sinful. Even if you do drink beer, you can always stop, God will forgive you.

About your anology with the two guys - that's not for us to decide - we don't know...we are told as long as our good deeds outweight our bad deeds than we go to heaven. and 'forbidden' doesn't mean going to hell - it means if you do that forbidden thing than you get bad deeds for it.Really, Islam is a very clear cut, straightforward religion - you just need the right person to explain everything to you. The reason it was sent down by Allah was because the words of the Bible were at some point altered by humans, and thus weren't truly the pure words of God. Islam is basically the "last chance" that Allah gave to humanity to follow his path to salvation. Like, Reppin' said, what he meant wasn't necessarily that all Muslims abide 100% by the rules of the Quran, because quite frankly that just isn't going to happen in today's world. He meant that the Quran was basically blessed by Allah so that no human can alter it's words, that's why the translations aren't always a 100% concrete resource. Again, the Quran and a Muslim scholar can obviously explain all this better than we possibly can.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I wanted to show my thoughts.If yall didnt know, Im very into history, dont know why but I love it with a passion like I do with basketball. From what I have learned, the only differences in Islam and Christianity are1) Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet, nothing more than that2)Ishmael was the father of the Holy people3)Muhamed was sent to save and preach of God(Allah)ok, im sure theres other stuff also, but those are what I have learned so far. Obviously the general difference between Christianinty and Islam from Judism is Judism doesn't study the New Testement and the books of the Old are in a different arrangement. Personly, I think we are all praying to the same God and are obeying generaly the same laws of man. The muslims you hear about on CNN and etc. are extemist, they are kindve Muslim versions of Hitler(a christian extremist). So personaly, Im a christian, but if I had to pick another religion it would be Islam then Judism. I think Islam and Christianity are the two more logical religions. But Buddhism isnt bad either, the origional teachings of Buddha were understanding life, the religion now is alot different. Buddha himself never denied the extistence of gods or a God, so I guess you could study that also.please correct me if Im wrong about any of my Islam/Judism/Christianity differences statements.
