You can always use the block feature.

But more importantly, make the discussion you want to see. I disagree all the time with people in here. But I make my case and always enjoy when they come back at me. Otherwise it would be really boring if everyone agreed. I don't care if people disagree with me, and sometimes get a little upset, because I know I'm always right. Okay, just kidding about that last part.

If you want more positive content, post it and I will try to post more of it also.

Have you seen the Blazer History thread? Post a picture, share something fun about your fandom. I've read enough of your posts to know you have a good story or two.
ya maybe I'm being harsh good discussions still take place here.

Criticism is part of the game I understand that but it's just goes over the top sometimes IMO but that's just me.

Notice that you're portraying being unbelievably patronizing about athletes as somehow virtuous. Don't you think athletes should see Muhammad Ali as a role model?
Should? Thats a hope for ideal. A vast majority of the better athletes I've come across (mostly through being a pretty good hooper) were absolutely not people I would want others to emulate. If I were to place real value onto what I've found to be the morality of top athletes, I wouldn't be a fan of sports. I'm resigned to hoping those on the teams I root for to be figuring life out and holding them to not being flagrantly awful. Sorry but thats been my repeated experience. If someone on a team I root for were to be as rightous as you seem to expect them to be, that would be something to celebrate. But again, if I'm being realistic about my experiences & if I'm to remain a sports fan (and entertainers in general) I have to lower that bar considerably.

btw, the best guy who was anything close to a pro level athlete I ever came across was Portland's Terrell Brandon. In-fucking-credible talent, but just a solid real person.

Maybe not the anti gay, anti-Semitic, or hypocritical adultery part. I was a big Ali fan, but he certainly was far from perfect. No one is

The team earned the 7th seed by beating the 8th place team on the road. That's certainly more than "making the play-in" which means ending in 10th place or better.
Really? If a team wins the championship, does that mean they didn't make the playoffs?

Yes, the Blazers made the play-in. They also lost in the playoffs. I had to look it up, since it's such ancient history, but thank goodness you reminded me.

Now that I remembered that, obviously the team's future is much brighter.

I feel ya. I just dont care for mediocrity anymore. Been through this so many times. Going through the Roy, Oden, Aldridge experience was rough.
The end result was rough... but there was so much potential. Two of them broke down very quickly, but it was fun while it lasted.

This roster... no potential. No fun capable of ending in heartbreak.

(I'm essentially agreeing with the rest of your post, for the record :) )

They clearly stated MORE THAN made the play in. I dunno what you're trying to get at by your dumb championship comment. But then again, I dunno what you're ever getting at. Bitch and moan, disappear for 2 months. Come back and do the same. Not even a normal contributor. Just a bi-monthly shit poster.

Don't get me wrong, I loved that era. It just broke my heart.

The only other team I really felt like that was with Dame, Wes, Batum, LMA, Lopez when we traded for Afflalo before Wes got hurt. I thought we had a chance.

I've liked parts of the Dame, Cj period, but I never felt like we could contend. Everyone knew we were gonna get smoked by the Warriors.

Who is "they"?

I said, "We (Cronin) built this roster to... make the play-in. We did it. Yay."

You said that they made the playoffs, which is not making the play-in. Which makes no sense, since that's like saying a team didn't make the playoffs if they won a championship. It's really not my fault that you can't understand pretty basic logic.

Anyone who is NOT shit posting given the state of this franchise and roster ... there's something wrong with you, IMO. That's OK, but to criticize someone who has been right so often about the team in spite of my irregular postings strikes me as odd but relying on a term like "shit poster" is consistent with your inability to follow along with my posts.

"They" is the person you replied to. Sorry you can't follow along. And a "TL: don't give a fuck" on the rest of your drivel.

You hated the Dame pick because he was so old (22), and thought he couldn’t improve beyond what he already was, because you thought that way about all four year college guys. You’re smart, and you’ve been consistent the entire time I’ve known you (god, 30 years now… going back to the BLT days) but don’t self-aggrandize; you’re dead wrong as much as anyone else here.

If you are a true fan of a team, you don't need to be won back.
Rip City Runs Deep. Go Blazers!

Was BLT right before Fanhome? I joined the group at Fanhome then made my way over to bbb.net.

A team can get complacent when the fanbase is never critical; at some point the hardcore fans, those who have been fans deeply and for a long time, need to be able to express dissatisfaction with what’s happening. And I also think negative feedback is important, if it is specific, actionable, and measurable. They don’t grt to take my $300 for blazer cable (for me and my mother) for granted. If I’m paying $250 for playoff tickets I want a better effort than I got out of Game 4. I’m small potatoes as a spender of money, but that doesn’t mean I have to be called a fake fan because of it or because of my annoyance that the new owner seems to be a cheapskate. After this post-season, especially the way Tom acted, and the way the team played on the court after winning Game 2, I don’t really feel like spending money on the team until they prove they’re going to take care of me as a fan.

I think so. For me the path was Blazers List Talk, ESPN (was that fanhome?), bbb.net, rc2
I started out on rec.sport.basketball.pro. Anyone remember Roy "Pinhead" Navarre? Alan Sepinwall, now a quite well-known film reviewer, was a Knicks fan on there in the early-mid 90s who wouldn't shut up about going to Penn.

Nah, Fanhome wasn't ESPN. I feel like there were some people here (that were at bbb.net) that were also at Fanhome.

Here is a nice walk down memory lane

Ahhh! I might have been on there too after ESPN but before bbb.net… i’ll have to search for my old username but I recognize nearly everyone on there
